Everyone's home is set up differently, I know.
But sometimes we have stuff that's different-different.
In my home, you will find that there are about 50 spoons, and 50 forks. No, they don't all fit in the utensil drawer slot all at once. Yes, I have some stashed. It is a workaround for a member with hoarding tendencies, whose forks and spoons don't always make it back downstairs. Or need to be tossed when discovered.
You will also see a rectangular basket heaped with white hand towels (well, really bar towels, because they're less expensive, but whatever) in the kitchen. Why? Because another member has contamination OCD, and can't use the same towel as others, or over and over again (working on it, but you know...) The use of paper towels was exorbitant and wasteful. It costs much less to launder 100 hand towels.
In my freezer, you might wonder why there is a tupperware with banana peels and coffee grounds in it. It's heading to the compost out back later that day, or maybe tomorrow morning. Freezing it ensures there is no smell and no insect problem.
Anyone wanna share?

I will often have a silly amount of potatoes on hand. There's only 2 of us and we don't even eat potatoes more than a couple of times a week but I have a dread of running out for some reason.

I have a collection of 'trash' for the cat to play with, empty boxes, paper bags, milk carton rings, plastic pots (does he own every toy Amazon has to offer...yes, does he want to play with those toys...no!) I keep all sorts of things that I know he'll enjoy.

That must be the same reason why I have an absurd amount of rice in my pantry. An unopened twenty pound bag, and a half full twenty pound bag, so about 30 pounds all together.

Cats are so funny about toys, always wanting the things that aren't really toys at all.

A 3 tiered cart with IgG infusion supplies next to the couch.
A freezer full of bags with ends from produce for me to make stock.
Lots and lots and lots and lots of bottled water (for ds).
Thomas the Train trains all over the dinning room table.
Christmas music playing (ds favorite).

The hall linen closet is full of board games…no room for towels or sheets. Those have to be stored in the bedrooms.

And I'm the one guilty of buying it!

Shoes on in the house. We don’t have a good spot for taking them off before going in the house from the garage, and just don’t care about that at all.

Where were you and your hoard of potatoes on Thursday night? I had no potatoes and no chips to have with our chicken. Luckily I did have some sweet potatoes, but DS refused to eat them. He claims he doesn't like them. Oh well, all the more for me.

I have an insane number of assorted dish and hand towels. I have a drawer full in the kitchen and another drawer full in the laundry room. Half of them are microfiber so they have to be washed separately from the cotton ones, so I have a bunch of each. And Costco just had an eight pack of various microfiber cleaning towels on clearance for $3.97 a pack, so of course I bought three packs (took some to our lake cabin).
We also have more throw blankets than three people and two dogs probably need.

I really can't think of anything that isn't probably normal in other houses... but, we haven't used our front door in 27 days because a bird decided to make a nest in my door wreath. So we are waiting for the babies to fly.

One of my favorite features of our house is that we have a coat closet near the front door for guests and another one in the kitchen by the back door to the garage for our use.

In my home.....no one has eat anything they don't like, nor does anyone "have to" try a bite of anything, if they don't want to. For whatever the reason. I'm in a studio, so my scrapbook area is on display in all it's glory. I have more than some and less than others. Non scrapbookers or crafters, might think it's "a lot"....but compared to some of the scrapbook rooms and areas I've seen online, mine is minimal.

We are building and had to revamp our plans mid process for a variety of reasons. The area am I temporarily using for an office inside the huge garage only had high windows so we ordered a specialty window that is small and installed down very low for my small dogs lay next to and look out.

We hoard laughter in this house. We're all sarcastic, funny and silly. Though I do hope that a lot of people have a house that is full of laughter.
We have an inordinate amount of flashlights. Dh loves them and we have a flashlight for every situation.
Our cats have a small toy bucket. You can't walk around w/o stepping over a cat toy. Nothing is as much fun for my big cat as tipping an empty water bottle into the sink.

What used to be the formal dining room is now the home for about 25 assorted guitars and basses, plus amps, mics, and other similar items. The adjacent home office is my teaching studio and that's where we have the piano, two more guitars, and a ukulele.
One of our spare bedrooms is DH's hobby room, where he paints historical miniatures to use for war games. It's packed to the gills with figures, paints, brushes, books on historical military uniforms, and I don't know what all. Our garage is home to tens of thousands of painted miniatures all neatly boxed and categorized. When DH goes to game, he just pulls out the boxes he needs for the battle being planned.
Our little rescue dog refuses to potty outside, so we have a stack of washable/reusable puppy pads in the corner of the family room. One is always out for her to go on. Her poo gets picked up and flushed and we put down a clean pad at least once a day.
My kids would say what is different in our house is that we rarely have food, just "ingredients." What they mean is that we don't often buy the pre-prepared foods or snacks they see at their friends' houses.
We're pretty weird, I think. We will almost certainly have to move out of this house and have it staged as a proper house when it comes time to sell it.

We also have more throw blankets than three people and two dogs probably need. I too have more throw blankets than one person needs. They were in constant use when my late husband was sick. I have ones for pretty much all holidays and seasons. Many are gifts from friends. I find a lot of comfort in wrapping up in a soft throw when I am feeling down. It's like a long distance hug from my husband in heaven.

I have about 5 or 6 empty, as nothing in them at all, kitchen cabinets! We got rid of so much when we moved there is nothing to put there. We have a HUGE (10ft x 6ft) walk in pantry, and it's half empty. We are determined not to fill things up & store "stuff"

So we are waiting for the babies to fly. My neighbor used to have a cute painted rain boot that she would fill with silk flowers and hang on their front door in the spring. Occasionally a bird would make a nest in it and they couldn’t use that door until the babies left the nest!

We have some hooks on the walls for coats but mostly everyone takes their coats to their own closets. Our closet was converted years ago when my boys were young. Games have changed over the years but it’s still full!

At ds's house in Georgia he's turned their entire garage into his hobby room, totally packed with stuff. My dh has basically taken over the basement. SO many miniature figures, paints, brushes, etc., etc., etc., etc., He and ds go twice a year to the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society convention, usually held in Lancaster, PA. Dh is usually a game leader for some of the time. This year's game that he's running has something to do with Civil War gun boats, but that's all I could tell you. I try to avoid most of it.

Is it normal that we use our garage for our cars?! 🤣 We also store all our shoes by the door from the garage to the house. We have musical instruments in the dining room (piano, guitar, ukulele).

Everything about our house is weird, but one thing my son always points out as particularly so is that the light switches are odd in every single room. Several rooms have no light switches at all. A few have them, but smack in the middle of the room. Two have them hidden behind the door. So you have to enter and close the door to reach the switch. There is exactly two rooms with switches when you first enter the room, but they are both different types of switched than others in the house, one being a dimmer switch and one where the switch toggles left/right instead of up/down. We also have one switch which inexplicably was left as a push-button type when all of the others got replaced with toggle switches (and later the one dimmer switch). The hallway upstairs can be lit from a switch down near the front door or exactly one switch in the middle of the hall upstairs, which isn't next to any of the bedroom doors at all. We have to warn anyone who ever stays overnight here to be careful moving about the house at night because finding a way to put on lights is so tricky. My one son just always gives his friend a fresh flashlight to use.
