I counted my points for July...sorry team. This month, I have the prep class for the VB workshop that is taking place in Sept & Oct (I'll rack up a ton of points those two months between the workshops and a weekend crop). My calendar is better this month - less appointments and more social activities (ie photo ops).

How is everyone doing today? I have the company of an 11 year old all day, and we just spent about 90 minutes out in the garden picking peas and weeding. Before he came I managed to slap together a quick anniversary card for his mom to pop into the post office this morning. August kinda took me by surprise, so that one had to go out QUICK! Do you have the 11yo with you all weekend? Hope you’re having lots of fun even though there’s no crafting time. Those events at the beginning of a month are sneaky - I’ve had to put reminders in my phone one or two weeks ahead for birthdays in the first week of any month. This morning the cool marine layer rolled in so it’s a bit gloomy but it won’t get quite so hot today. But without the morning sunshine I’m a bit slow to get going. Is anyone else solar powered? I don’t need to be outside in it but I get energized by bright skies, especially in the morning. Time to get my gardening clothes on and make things presentable for the garden tourists. Very much so!! My energy and mood are infinitely better when the sun is out! The garden tour sounds lovely...I hope you have fun with it today!

Thanks Linda - I know it's for fun I was just hoping I'd do more. I cleared my desk so I can craft tonight and tomorrow. I should pull out something to start for when I get home later.

How did you do in July? Have you added up your points yet? I have slightly modified gramma's fabulous sheet, so that it calculates everything automatically. The only thing I haven't included yet is the points for comments, and organisation. What is ahead in August? My trip to Thailand!! What is your go-to if you need to make a quick page or card? I will use a digital template that I have purchased, or one that I have made myself previously.

He was here Thursday morning to this morning He is a hyperactive boy, but crafting seems to help him calm down, so he spends time making cards when he is here. So that is cool He helped in the garden and baked cupcakes

Anyone have fun or crafty plans today?
I'm finishing up storm prep - housework, bringing in yard stuff, baking cookies, charging all the things. Hoping I can scrap this evening and tomorrow.

current predication puts us on the eastern side of TS Debbie (which typically has heavier rain/wind). It'll probably be a hurricane when it makes landfall but back to tropical storm when it crosses over us. The big concern is that it's looking like it might stall over us and just keep dropping rain. We're currently estimated at 8-12" but possibly as much as 16-20".
Ironically back in 2012 - TS Debby took a very similar path and stalled over us flooding the entire region. We're hoping not to have a repeat but...forecasts aren't promising at this point. Our house is high and dry (as is our old house) but there is a creek just down the hill from us that goes under the only road out of our subdivision (we are closer to the exit than the creek but the majority of our neighbours are on the other side of the creek). So that's a concern for them.

I have a little pile of scraps on my desk to add to the insides of cards I’ve already made and maybe I can squeeze one more card from them. I’d like to do that this afternoon or tomorrow because a Pea lent me some Hanukkah stamps to play with I need to look for some inspiration but I know there’s not much out there. I guess I have to make my own!

Thanks joblackford these pics are from 2012 - the first is a road that washed out and the second was our easement (dirt road from our driveway to the actual road)

Yowza! Debbie is supposed to hit NC just as my mom is leaving to head north...hopefully she doesn't end up driving in it the whole way!
Yoga was cancelled yesterday and I didn't realize in time to take the 7:30 am class on Thursday instead. Probably just as well since I spent Thursday morning doing a little more last minute organization of a donation to a charity here that collects furniture and home goods for people moving out of homelessness or away from abusive relationships and dropping that off.
azcrafty needed a break, so I've taken over posting the SLoCs challenges for a bit. Puts a bit more urgency on making my set, so I tackled that yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon's adulting included finding the actual floor of my closet, vacuuming it, and putting things back in a more organized manner. There were a few things that got tossed, recycled, or added to other donations.
This morning, I finished the last card for S&CT's Christmas in July event and went on the dog walk for the first time in a while. Now I'm sort of packing the craft room away. My mom will arrive Thursday and stay there for two nights. I'm going to Maine with her just for Saturday night and taking the train home Sunday, but won't get home until noon, so no crafty time next weekend most likely. I have a couple Club Scrap card kits cut and ready to assemble, so I'll bring those and maybe one or two of the AC card kits I just bought at door buster prices at Joann. I plan to pack that all up and get it ready to go today.
I'm doing a couple loads of laundry while I tidy and pack in the craft room. At some point, I'll leave here for a pedicure and then grocery shopping. Once I return, I'll teleview while folding the laundry and getting my August Pea birthday cards ready to go. Once the laundry is put away, along with a couple other finishing touches on the closet clean up, there's left to do but fret about tomorrow.

Shakti - hopefully your mum will be able to stay ahead of the storm. Sounds like you're having a busy and productive weekend. That's great that you've taken over the SLoC challenges - everyone needs a break now and then.

Linda--prayers for you as you shelter from TS Debbie. Have never had experience with flooding, just power outages and winter storms etc. Hope your neighbors are OK and that everyone is safe!
christinec68--I've not done my points yet, but am sure it is not much, but it's all about having some fun while we can!
joblackford--you kinda live in an area NOT known for lots of sunshine except a few summer months. Having lived in the PNW much of life life. You learn that when the sun is shining you get out and enjoy it! At least a bit of a relief from the heat wave you've had this summer. Do you have AC? Many don't in that area.
grammadee--you are a great gramma! All kinds of grandkid memories for that kiddo!
Shakti--just reading all you got done just makes me tired! Good for you! It may be that I am still in recovery mode?
I did get to spend many hours on the lake yesterday, and it was beautiful! Our little yacht club hosted a fun regatta. DH is not able to sail yet, but we went out and helped move buoys, and upright boats that capsized. Plus take photos. I drove the boat and watched. They had a good turn out. DH was sad he didn't get to sail. Last year he didn't have the "one design" MC Scow and was going to sail in the open class with DS, but DS hurt his hand badly just the day before so that was out. But at least this year we we out on the water in sunshine, warm weather, with the right amount of wind for the races. In the afternoon the lighter sailors needed a crew to keep their boats upright.
Between watching Olympics, having a house guest, and feeling tired I'm not getting much done but the basics. Glad DH is finally on the mend and can tie his own shoes Doing PT twice a week and OMT adjustment ever other week. Kind of slowed down our summer though.

At least a bit of a relief from the heat wave you've had this summer. Do you have AC? Many don't in that area. Yeah, the dry sunny season is pretty short here in WWa. We only have a window AC unit in one room and fans to pull cool air in at night in two other rooms. When it's really hot (90s and up) we get pretty uncomfortable - anything above 83 inside is pretty miserable! And the basement is unfinished - much cooler, but a bit spidery and not much fun to hang out in. This area is funny because the second we reach the 60s in spring you start seeing guys walking around town with shirts off and ladies in tube tops, so different from their winter fleece hoodies, but when it gets over about 85 everyone hides inside and moans! It doesn't help that Puget Sound is glacially cold year round so most of our water is not safely swimmable. And I live near a naval maintenance facility that can't be trusted not to accidentally let toxins into the water (or so I've heard) so I've never actually touched the water down the street from me. That's quite an adjustment after growing up a short drive from literally dozens of delightful sandy beaches. It sounds like you're loving lake life

Linda - you sound prepared but I hope it's not as bad as they are saying it could be. Stay safe. Shakti - I hope your mother doesn't get caught driving through the storm. It's nice that you're giving azcrafty a break. angel97701 - I am glad you got to enjoy the lake and more importantly that your husband is feeling better. I caught up with some friends yesterday which was fun. One friend I've known my entire life and the other 2 we know from HS. I wasn't really friends with one of them until more recently but we figured out that we went to the same kindergarten. So crazy! So today, I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find my class picture from kindergarten. I didn't find that but was immediately reminded that this is a situation I need to address. There are 1000s of pictures that need to be sorted, organized and in some cases scanned. My first step was to order more boxes I can sort them into including larger boxes for memorabilia and larger prints. They'll arrive later this week and I'll do a little at a time. Then I finally scrapbooked a little and made a layout of some random picture of DH & I. As of now, there's no story but I there's a place I can add some journaling later if something comes to mind. Now, I have my desk set back up for work tomorrow. Bah!! Have a good night Peas

Good morning, Peas!
It is early here. I need to leave the house in about an hour. I've showered and am eating breakfast. I do not like eating early -- the last time I had breakfast this early was probably 6/27 when I had the on-site interviews for this very job! My typical office MO is to pack both brekky and lunch to the office. It seems like maybe I am remembering how this whole "work" thing works....
Hope everyone has a great week!!

christinec68 - it's wet, very wet. I've heard we've gotten 4-5 inches of rain overnight and at least that much still to come today. Loads of branches down and I'm feeling very thankful about the four trees we had taken down this spring. Power has been flickering on and off for a couple of hours but so far it's still on. Not true for many around here

Have a great week at your new job, Shakti! Linda, stay safe & dry. Hopefully the storm will pass without causing too much disruption or damage. Would love to take some of your rainfall, but not 4-5 inches in one night! I am hoping to put a LO together today. Wish me luck!

Loads of branches down and I'm feeling very thankful about the four trees we had taken down this spring. Power has been flickering on and off for a couple of hours but so far it's still on. Not true for many around here Glad you still have power for now... I was checking the storm news this morning, thinking of you. I'm so glad you had those trees removed. Rain and flooding are not good but wind and trees are really scary. I recently read Isaac's Storm, about the Galveston Hurricane of 1900. It was very well written but also very hard to read because so many died. I can hardly imagine what it was like back then when no one had ever seen a storm from space and the science of meteorology was still in its infancy. Some people were figuring out where storms were based on the wind patterns and predicting what would come next, but most people didn't trust weather predictions at all and had that same attitude of "last time it wasn't as bad as you said so why should I believe you?" that many still have. Stay safe!

Shakti--Hope you first day at work went well!
Blood draw for me today, groceries and laundry. Rain almost all day, but not as much as Linda I am sure. Cooler temps, below 70 for us.
Still have a house guest. He will fly his own GlassAir out tomorrow, weather was the issue for today. They have been talking airplanes for several days straight.
