So sad for all of those affected by this storm. So glad you and your family are safe, Linda . Same on both counts. Today is an in office day. I usually don't mind but I'm not in the mood today. At least I am only here until 3pm.

Trying not to over think my next LO which has been taking up way too much real estate in my head for awhile. Maybe if I can get that one glued down, my next pages will come more easily...
Starting to look for hosts for SKETCHtember next quarter. If you are interested in hosting, and I haven't included you in a group message, please PM me.

Oh wow, that's a lot of water Linda and it sounds like it will be an ongoing issue for a while. The linemen do such important work in such awful conditions. I'm amazed your services have already been restored. I have been trying to go to a new crafty meetup at my local library for a month but every week something comes up that day. I was so proud of myself for getting out of the door early today with all my yarn organized, and even my own coffee from home, ready to craft and chat. And then as I walked down the street I found an outgoing election ballot in the bushes, then another one ripped open with the ballot thrown aside, then more and more stolen mail discarded along the sidewalk. Ugh! I detoured a couple of blocks to deliver them to the police station but the sergeant said if I was willing I should take the unopened mail to the post office to be re-delivered and the ballots to the elections office (primary elections are today!) If he accepted them as found property he'd have to hold them for a month to be reclaimed or something like that... so I was 40 minutes late to the meet-up and a bit more flustered than I would've liked. But USPIS is going to investigate the mail and the elections people were very nice and said I could drop the ballots in the drop box and they would deal with them. Sigh... Hopefully starting next week I can go to the meet-up without any drama and earn some double crafty hours. The ladies seemed nice and I wasn't even the youngest person there I think I need a nap now!

Been MIA from here. Glad to see some good things. First day at a new job and no damage from the storm. That’s a lot of rain in 24 hours. I hope that the rest of the areas aren’t too bad and can dry out quickly. I didn’t get any crafting done this weekend and still need to add up points. I realize I made more cards as I did three kits not two . I watched a lot of classes last month, one 4 hour live class. That was really fun. We are trying to avoid the heat as it’s over 100 the last few days. I think it’s cooler tomorrow for a few days. I know that we broke at least one record but wouldn’t be surprised if there were more. We got a lot of stuff that had been put off for a while. I did more things I had been procrastinating for a while. Feels so good to have them done. I’m hoping to watch another class if two this week and play with some new stamps and dies. I placed a big SU order. I need to start making a bigger dent in my stash.

Trying not to over think my next LO which has been taking up way too much real estate in my head for awhile. Maybe if I can get that one glued down, my next pages will come more easily... Well at least you have something to overthink about - I haven't done a single layout this month, and we're (I'm) already a full week into August! I have made my template for Sketchy Saturday August 3rd, now I just have to find some photos for it. I have an appointment at the hairdresser tonight, and I plan to take my laptop so I can do some scrapping there while my colour is processing. I'm always disappointed when they come to take me to the basin to wash the colour, I'm like "Noooo, I haven't finished my layout yet!"

Scrappin' at the hairdressers! Not THAT is something this paper scrapper couldn't do, AussieMeg LOL. I am hoping to get a few LO's put together today at the kitchen table with a friend. No plans. Just a couple of packs of photos from this summer and my whole stash to scrap them with... No pressure to even finish any of them b/c I can add finishing touches later in the week if I need to wait for something to dry or an inspiration to hit me. I am usually inspired by a couple of things--stories to tell, and new ideas/materials to play with. I have the stories. No new summer lines or any lines, really, except for Neon Baseball. (And I do have another set of baseball pic's to scrap, so I could always go that way). But after over thinking the last LO, I am looking forward to just letting the pic's lead the way today...

scrapping at the hairdresser? what a neat idea! AussieMegjoblackford - thank you for being a good citizen - sorry it meant you missed out on so much of your meetup Scrapper100 - hope it cools off for you grammadee - good luck with not overthinking layouts Not sure if I'll get to scrap today or not. Our neighbours had a tree come down across our road overnight so we've been helping them clear that and I have PT this afternoon - after missing the past two weeks. I've had photos laid out on my desk for a while - even have a sketch but am struggling to find a colour scheme...the photos are all neutrals.

I don't know if summer is over here or what? Rain on Monday and today temps in high 60's. I guess this is just Northern Minnesota, at least we are not flooding! Got news that there was a major flood in Juneau, AK where I have family. They are OK, but I do not know about home damage.
Glad that you are safe Linda. Prayers for the community as they rebuild.
DS18 has added major drama to his situation. Got very sick with a flu bug, went to Urgent Care and could not pay for his Rx. We were in town for my own appointment and Rx so close enough to met up in person. I paid for his Rx, but he is still denying his disability and resources that could help him. We will not allow a revolving door, in that he wanted to come home "so he would be with people who really know him while he is dying". Urgent care gave him an IV and anti-nausea meds. He is not dying, other wise they would admit him. He didn't turn in his paperwork for continuation on his insurance through Minnesota assistance, so who knows what will happen. That is why his Rx payment was denied. GF is still in the picture. So many lies, don't know what to believe when it comes out of his mouth. Makes me very sad!

Sorry to hear about your son being sick and adding extra drama to the situation angel97701. I hadn’t heard about the Juneau/Mendenhall glacier ice dam bursting - that’s a scary situation! I spent all my crafty time this afternoon half-watching/ listening to videos and slowly adding handwritten messages into 61 cards. I did them 5 or 10 at a time, adding little decorative flags, and bundling them up once I had 10 done so I wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. Some days my hand forgets how to write and I make lots of mistakes but today everything flowed pretty well

joblackford - I hope you get to your crafty meetup next week but it was nice of you to get the mail where it needs to be. angel97701 - sorry about the drama with your son but hope he feels better soon. AussieMeg - impressive multitasking by scrapping while getting your hair done! Linda - can you pull the color scheme from the theme of your pictures? It's nice you're helping your neighbors. Not much to report here - it was a regular WFH day. Tomorrow I am back to the office but my office mate will be WFH which will be nice.

Not sure if tree moving is PT approved, Linda. With neutrals in the photos you can probably get away with ANY colour combo. Have you taken a look at one of the colour wheel videos? (Didn't Shimelle do a series of them?) Had a great day today, just playing with paper! Six hours crafing with a friend. Completed six two-pagers, some photo-heavy, others with more theme. Need to add a few final touches to some and will start posting tomorrow.

Thanks for the color scheme ideas - the photos are all of cats (2 grey, 1 orange) in various spots in the garage...which is supposed to be a cat-free space. So my idea is Forbidden Space or No Entry or something like that as a title. angel97701 - I hope your son is feeling better soon and can get his act together and get the insurance straightened out. Does he have a social worker or advocate? It's hard for any young adult to navigate insurance etc...and more so for young adults with special needs. joblackford - wow - that's a lot of cards. christinec68 - hope tomorrow goes well in the office AussieMeg - wow - great multitasking! grammadee - sounds like a fabulous day No scrapping for me today - maybe tomorrow but definitely Friday evening (its always blocked off for scrapping)

Good morning! A bit exhausted and very overwhelmed, but here! joblackford, you are so good, writing messages in your cards for BSTS! I know they prefer that, but don't require it, so I don't. I do make sure they have stamped greeting inside. The only ones I write in are for the Altenew parents drive and that's usually just a sheetload or two. Linda hope you continue to recover from the storm. angel97701 glad your people in Alaska are safe. Hope your son gets his situation sorted and his health improved soon. Sounds very frustrating!

Shakti - I was wondering how you were doing this week. Hoping you like the job and new co-workers! Linda - How about "Restricted Area" and make it all yellow and red like a danger zone? grammadee - what a great way to spend the day!! I'm so glad it's Thursday although this hasn't been a bad week but I'm looking forward to being off Sat & Sun.

I do make sure they have stamped greeting inside. The only ones I write in are for the Altenew parents drive and that's usually just a sheetload or two. Hope you find yourself settling in soon. It must be quite an adjustment. TBH I have never written inside cards for BSTS, but I heard many months ago that they had a lot more cardmakers than cardwriters so I told myself I should try and write inside. I'm only just starting now. Christmas cards are a relatively easy place to start because I used to have to write in them for the Caring Hearts drive. If I would stamp and write inside as I went it would be a lot easier! But batch stamping is more efficient... so I justify putting it off. I just emptied out my "clean" trash bin at my desk where I throw scraps knowing I might pull them out again to use as extra cardstock layers or to punch a few matching hearts or whatever. I decided the experimental Xmas card I threw in there last month didn't look so bad after all (seeing with fresh eyes) so I finished it I also declared vellum scrap bankruptcy and threw all my small scraps away. I hardly ever use little bits of vellum and the thin stuff is unpleasant to use anyway, so I only saved heavyweight pieces and a few bigger scraps. Yay

Hoping you settle in to the new routine soon, Shakti: actually make it more routine and less new, I guess. joblackford, I very seldom look at the inside of my cards until I am ready to pop them into the mail. Doing them all as a batch sounds like alot of work, but I can see why you wouldn't be doing that while you are focused on the front panel design. Your craft room sounds super organized. Mine is a complete mess right now. TBH it is like this a lot of the time LOL. I am always saving little tiny bits of pp and cs and unless I am on a mission to do a deep clean, those pieces just keep piling up. I have a magazine rack where I can sort the colours as I put scraps away, but when I get busy on other projects I tend to just throw all the pieces together on a pile. I really need to do something with that pile, soon.

First off AussieMeg, that photo is hilarious! Linda I hope your area continues to recover! Fun times with animals where they don't belong Shakti Going back to commuting, being in the office all day, learning new stuff would be exhausting. As a teacher I had this transition EVERY YEAR!!! Especially the standing all day, took about 2 weeks to get my "teacher feet" back. grammadee You have been super productive, good for you! joblackford Sorry to be out of the loop but what is BSTS? Hope that you can make the craft meetup this coming week. Since Covid it seems harder to be with people IRL and it is so healthy for us!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers about DS18. He is not willing to access ANY help, not even a social worker. He can do it himself, but obviously to us (DH and I) who have raised him since age 4 and dealt with all of his difficulties for 14 years . . . he is not able. To be couch surfing, working under the table, living with smokers (his complaint of why he was sick), not eating right or exercising, and so on! He's lost muscle mass since I say him at the end of May, and overall weighs less (on his print out) it is fair to say he really is not able to take care of himself even when sponging off of someone else. I had a hard time sleeping last night, I really have to focus on letting go and letting God. I cannot fix him, we've given him all we could and then some, and if he is not willing to acknowledge he has a disability then it is really on him.
I am working on organizing the rest of my supplies in the garage. DH moved some shelves over 2 weeks ago, and the boxes are still sitting there unpacked! FYI my space is about half of what I had before BUT I have dedicated craft furniture! It's a matter of having things stored where I can find everything. You know like the sealing wax supplies I've had for years and that are now back in style!

angel97701 sorry, BSTS = Bring Smiles to Seniors is a card charity shakti and I both donate to. I got some more Christmas cards stamped and written in, and added some sentiments to fall cards I made months ago. I’m still workshopping inside sentiments for those. So many fall sentiments are either gratitude based which don’t sound right when you don’t know who will get them (and I’m not going to tell a neglected/lonely senior to “be grateful” any more than I’m going to tell them to smile) or they’re about activities that most rest home residents haven’t been able to do for years. I think I’m going to go with something like “autumn blessings, pumpkin spice and everything nice” or “fall is in the air, sending autumn cozy wishes” I totally looked up stamp sets on scrapbook dot com to see what I could say!

Making cards for seniors sounds like a good cause. I wouldn’t have thought about sentiments that might not be appropriate.

I finished a genealogy writeup last night so will get that (very simply) scrapped and into the album today and hopefully finally scrap those kitty pictures that have been on my desk since last Friday. DD17 goes back to school Monday so our summer is at an end. It feels like it raced by.

Catching up on some comments and page posting this morning. Then I need to get busy with garden produce... something like “autumn blessings, pumpkin spice and everything nice” or “fall is in the air, sending autumn cozy wishes” Those sound good for fall cards. Don't write off "Smile!" or "Sending your smiles", or "hugs".

Don't write off "Smile!" or "Sending your smiles", or "hugs". I do really like "sending smiles" and variations of that, but maybe because too many people have told me to smile when I don't want to, I tend to avoid that on its own. Making cards for seniors sounds like a good cause. I wouldn’t have thought about sentiments that might not be appropriate. It should be noted that I overthink everything!! I've erased the rest of this comment at least 3 times now... sigh... I just added a "you are my sunshine" sentiment to a couple of cards and now I have that song stuck in my head. That's probably good though - some folks who have lost a lot of their cognitive abilities can still sing songs they learned as kids, so I like to imagine them singing along when they read the card.

I've started using Chat GPT to help me write the insides of cards if I'm struggling with what to say. I don't use the results word for word, but it helps get me going in a direction that I can make sound my own.

Ryann I've been using Chat GPT for a lot of things like that lately. It's so helpful although a little addictive...I keep checking for different ways to say the same thing. HA! It has really helped me make business correspondence more clear and concise.
