Taking a bit of time to catch up with more of you before supper is ready to come out of the oven. Wow! You are really current with your PL albums, paget ! I am never successful with them cuz I may have enough photos for 20 scrapbook pages from one weekend, then none for the rest of the month. Linda , you always have so many interesting projects on the go. No wonder you complete so many pages! (and you know I love your coloured card focals) I hope you get your Thailand album finished, AussieMeg . Are you going back to the same part of the country? Or somewhere different? I am not nearly as careful as you about sorting/labeling photos, and I would be worried I was confusing the two trips if I had both their books on the go. Right now I have several travel pages to do: our trip to Orlando in February, Ds's family road trip to Phoenix and the other ds's family trip to Hawaii in March, and my dgs's Mexico vacation in April. Kinda saving them all to tackle together, but meanwhile being sidetracked by dgd's grad, the boys' sports, other small adventures... Chinagirl828 I would love to see some of your pocket pages. I know the cards you make will be artful and gorgeous, yet not overwhelming. Another reason I don't do PL albums is I can never get the balance right between photos and cards. But I know you will. Starting with going through your completed pages and cards is a wonderful way to figure out what you want to do next and how you want to do it, christinec68 . I hope you come out of the organization project feeling proud of what you have already created and inspired to get more than your toes back into the scrappy pool. kitbop , the summer pages you shared at the end of June were so much FUN! So glad that you are squeezing creativity into getting used to your new digs! And you are right--this IS a chatty crowd! This post landed on page TWO already! On the 2nd! Hoping this keeps up all Quarter! Speaking of new digs, I am glad you are getting some crafty time in during your first MN summer, angel97701. I love the phrase "We had summer last Tuesday." Yup! Some years that is what it seems like, here! Are you going to be able to show your crop creations, @petscrapper ? Would love to see them! Spent a couple of hours this morning roughly designing a two page LO I don't have printed photos for. Hoping to get the pic's printed on Thursday. Tomorrow I need to make at least two cards: one birthday and one anniversary. Might just use that 5x7 card sketch from SLoC for the front, but for some reason I have been looking for fun folds lately, so may do something fun with the insides...

I am not nearly as careful as you about sorting/labeling photos, and I would be worried I was confusing the two trips if I had both their books on the go. We're going back to Koh Samui. Normally we'd choose to go somewhere different, but one of the couples we travelled there with last year are stopping off there on their way home from a trip to Italy, and asked if we wanted to meet them there. We did all of the touristy things last year, so this trip will be more about relaxation and hanging out at the pool bar! There is no risk of me getting the photos mixed up, because I don't print them out. As soon as I have taken photos, they get uploaded to my iCloud in a folder for that date. I may be untidy and disorganised in most aspects of my life, but I am meticulously organised when it comes to photos and digi scrapbooking supplies! You have a lot of travel pages to do as well grammadee . Just as well I added a travel theme in the Q3 challenges for us both!

Hello, nervous newbie here! Well I’m not actually new to the board, just a long time lurker who never posts. I haven’t scrapped in several years so I think I’m just going to jump back in where I left off which was the end of my 2010 family album. I think I just have Christmas to do. And I need to get photos printed for 2011. Planning to get started tomorrow. My husband is away until Saturday on a fishing trip so I have the house to myself. Welcome beachy ! As someone who loves summer and the beach, I love your user name! Enjoy your time alone, I hope you get a lot of fun stuff done. My DSO is going camping for a few days later this month, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to have the house to myself!! Well, apart from DS, but he's hardly ever home anyway.

grammadee - thank you. Sometimes I feel like I have too many projects simmering at the same time and none actually get finished but... AussieMeg - sounds like a fun trip - how far is the flight for you? I looked it up for fun and it's 28hrs from Orlando and I'm a 3hr drive from Orlando -that would be a long long travel day.

What is the colour combo that shows up most often in your scrapbooks?
I pretty much always match my paper/kit colours to the predominant colours in the photos. I noticed that most of my layouts in June used a mix of blue, green, aqua, turquoise. That's probably my favourite colour combination. Blue and green matches most of the pages that I scrap.

It's 9.5 hours to Bangkok, then a one hour flight to Koh Samui. All of the flights home from Bangkok (most of SE Asia, actually) leave at about 9:30pm. With a two or three hour time difference, that gets us back into Melbourne somewhere between 6am-9am. We find it almost impossible to sleep on the plane, so that means going without sleep for about 20 hours. Yep, I think that Thailand is a bit far from you! However, you are close to the Caribbean, where I would love to go. I would really love to go when Australia is playing the West Indies in cricket (usually in St Lucia or St Kitts or Barbados). Unfortunately it is just a bit far, and way too expensive.

I have some catching up to do (already) but to answer the question of the day: My projects tend to be multi-colored but I seem to lean towards blue and green.

Seeing that we're all one big happy family now I will post here asking for volunteers to help out with providing sketches for our Sketchy Saturdays. There are about 15 Saturdays with no volunteers yet. If you are able to provide a sketch for any of the weeks that don't have a name next to them, can you please post on this thread: Sketchy Saturday sign ups 2024I will jump in to fill in any dates that aren't filled, as will grammadee no doubt! And speaking of sketches..... it's always bamboozled me a bit that we don't get a lot of people doing the sketches throughout the year. But for some reason, we always have heaps of people doing the sketches in Sketchtember. Why do you think that is? And a further talking point about sketches.... Do you use sketches? And if so, what are some of your favourite places to go to get the sketches? And what appeals to you on a sketch that makes you want to use it?

AussieMeg I can take July 27th. I don't typically think to look at sketches, but when I use them, I typically enjoy the process.

Pink and yellow or pink and red. I love all those colors and how they look together. Black and white i(like black and white mixed patterns and also with one other color) shows up a lot.

I save the weekly sketches to work on but it sometimes (more often than I'd care to admit) takes me up to a couple of years to actually use them. At that point it feels kind of silly to add my layout to the thread and bump it back up, although I'm sure any weirdness I feel about it is totally in my head. I think Sketchtember is a bit different as it's one of the big events here and I know I kind of plan to scrap a lot during Sept. It helps that our weather is still often cold and/or wet so conducive to time spent indoors. I still use sketches, quite a lot these days. I've been in a scrappy slump for probably the last year or so and find it hard to get going on pages, so sketches really help. What I'm looking for really depends on what I'm making. I love double page sketches with lots of photos but also lots of space for journalling when I'm working on travel pages, and I love mixing it up with single page sketches that give me space to play or showcase a paper I can't bear to cover up.

I wonder if there needs to a random older Sketchy Saturday sketch thread in GS the way there's now a random older Sheet Load of Cards thread in Cardmaking....

it's always bamboozled me a bit that we don't get a lot of people doing the sketches throughout the year. But for some reason, we always have heaps of people doing the sketches in Sketchtember. Why do you think that is? In September, the sketch threads are constantly being bumped to the top which makes them easy to find and on people's minds. Also many people plan on September being sketchy. I know for me - I'll open the sketch thread, see the sketch, leave a tab open with the sketch...and forget to go back to it or be scrapping photos that don't work with it. In September, I tend to flip through looking for photos to go with a sketch but the rest of the year, I'm more likely to be looking for a sketch to go with the photos. It would be more work but if the sketch links in the master thread could give a few hints (one page/two page, 1 photo, multiphoto), it would be an easier process of finding a sketch at least for me since my current process is to open a couple of months worth of links and see if anything works. I should probably just print out the sketches as they are posted though (and remember to date them so I can find the thread again) And a further talking point about sketches.... Do you use sketches? And if so, what are some of your favourite places to go to get the sketches? And what appeals to you on a sketch that makes you want to use it? I DO use sketches - almost all of the time. I almost always have to adapt them because I scrap 8.5x11 and sketches inevitably are square. I look for photo number and orientation first - there's some leeway there especially when I'm shrinking the sketch. I generally avoid sketches that require big circles/hexagons in background or starburst/sunrays except for challenges - because I don't usually want to deal with cutting those (yeah, I'm lazy). And if I have papers in mind, I look for a sketch that'll work with the number of papers I have - I don't want a sketch with many layers if I've struggled to find ONE pp to work with my photos and if I'm trying to use a bunch of PP scraps - then I do tend to look for layers or fishtail banners etc... Where do I get my sketches? Here and Scrapbook Generation are my go-tos. I also like Page Maps and Susan Stringfellow. But if I don't have a sketch in my binder of sketches, I tend to type in one page scrapbook sketch or two page scrapbook sketch on Google images and see what pops up. That often, but not always, sends to Pinterest and then to an often older blog. When I do my Sketchy Saturdays, I try to find older sketches (and not from the big sketch sites) because I think they're less likely to be duplicates. And yes, I'll go sign up for a Saturday or two.

However, you are close to the Caribbean, where I would love to go. and is somewhere I've never been. IF you do go there - avoid June-November. Right now Hurricane Beryl is barrelling through leaving destruction in her wake. She's early in the season for such a strong hurricane but the Carribean gets battered just about every year.

I save the weekly sketches to work on but it sometimes (more often than I'd care to admit) takes me up to a couple of years to actually use them. Yes, this! Also, if I don't print them out, I don't look back through the boards because it's irksome to find them. Honestly, when someone does BUMP an old sketch, I will often use it then! Linda has an excellent suggestion: when we put up a sketch, to label it as "1 photo, 1 page" or "6 photo 2 page" just to get the gist. Of course, I love warping a sketch to my own needs anyways so I will probably ignore the photo number Could we start a flicker gallery SEPARATE from our 2 peas gallery just for sketches? That would help immensely. Even if individual peas weren't wanting to make a flickr account of their own, maybe someone else (cough, AussieMeg, cough, not me, cough) could take the screen shot and upload them there? Then we could browse all the sketches easily. Alternatively, what if we started a 2 peas PINTEREST board for sketches? AussieMeg, I cannot believe how long it takes you to fly from AU to Thailand! I imagine them to be closer together. My flight to Heathrow next week is 6 hours. Ironically, flying "home" to Vancouver from Toronto (for US peas, that's similar to a flight from Pittsburg to San Francisco) is 5 hours. Have a wonderful warm relaxing trip.

When I am looking for a sketch, I go to AussieMeg 's stickied thread at the top of this board to find the links, and scroll through by clicking each link in turn. I like your idea, kitbop to add a separate gallery, and would be happy to set one up and start popping sketches into it, but don't quite know how to set one up. Will check that out. Shakti , the challenges change from Q to Q, and that is kinda the point--to add some variety and new prompts to pump up some interest. But you can definitely pop in a challenge for Q-3 to "do" an older Sketchy Saturday. I like your idea to add number of pages/photos to the Sketchy Saturday thread title. Maybe we can start that with SKETCHtember? Speaking of challenges, I have no question for you today, except: what challenges would you like to add to the Q-3 Challenges thread? I am afraid we are going to lose some people to their July 4th celebrations, and don't want to lose their fun challenges. Please go to Q-3 Challenges 2024 and drop 'em in there.
ETA. I just added a couple of sketches I posted through Flickr into a new album 2Peas Sketchy Saturday sketches. I can screenshot some different sketches and save there, I think, but would you check it out, kitbop , Shakti , AussieMeg Linda, to see if that is what you were thinking of?

I was suggesting a thread for older sketches, similar to the one we have for older Sheet Loads of Cards over on Stamping/Cardmaking.
There are some challenges I find very important for helping me overcome my pack-ratty ways, so I like to make sure they get added. That would be the trash/recycle one I proposed carrying over. Don't know who added it last quarter.
Getting a point (or, really, third point) for meeting a challenge you set I thought was just clever. Again, don't know who added it last quarter but I found it amusing. If you want to reject my suggestion of carrying it over, I'm cool with it.

I was suggesting a thread for older sketches, similar to the one we have for older Sheet Loads of Cards over on Stamping/Cardmaking. Sorry if I wasn't clear I was trying to answer that. We DO have a stickied thread in challenges with links to all of the sketches, going back for years. Anyone can go there and grab a sketch to use. BTW if you take on multiple Sketchy Saturdays, even from quarters--or years--back, you can still claim the bonus points for doing that within the month or this quarter... Also did not mean--at aLL--to hand slap about your wanting to repeat challenges from past quarters. Sorry if I got the impression you were trying to point out challenges that were missing from earlier threads. If they help you, or you think they are fun, go ahead and post them in the Challenges thread.

I wasn't trying to address any issue with FINDING sketches...someone said they don't like to post their work/layouts to the old thread for that particular sketch when they use it months later. Like they didn't want to zombify a dead thread. That's what we use the old SLoC thread for in cardmaking -- not reposting the sketches, posting our cards when we reuse an old sketch.

I've created a group on flicker for sketches. grammadee , you created a new board but we can't all upload to it - only you can. This is like the 2 peas gallery where when you upload your photo/sketch, you click under "groups" to add it to: www.flickr.com/groups/14918326@N22/Hope that link works. I've put a few into it already, and grammadee , I sent your 2 sketches an invitation to join the group

Are you going to be able to show your crop creations, petscrapper? Unfortunately I can’t because it’s from a class and it’s explicitly forbidden in the terms and conditions. I’m also a very slow scrapper. I only got one page done 😆.

What is the colour combo that shows up most often in your scrapbooks? Thanks for posing this question! I definitely lean towards pastels as a preference and expected my books to reflect that. I was wrong! I also have a lot of dark toned vintage style papers I’ve previously made layouts with. There’s also a ton of layouts that run the color gamut from when I was designing & teaching way back in the day. Yay for variety 🎉 .

I love sketches and use them a lot but I am more of a scrap lifter which I kind of use as sketches as well. Sketches I mostly get from Pinterest. I find inspiration layouts mostly on Facebook and Instagram. It's very rare I'll copy a layout 100%.
