How can they say they are pro-police/anti-crime when they support felons? How many felons (or their surrogates) spoke just last night? I know Peter Navarro and Savanah Christley. Who else? Yeah, that’s normal.

Biggest highlight from last night, besides TFG snoozing, were the signs being held up with their totally chill and unifying message: Welcome to 1930s Germany. I just can't fathom what sort of person welcomes the idea of terrorizing families - including children - with raids of homes, workplaces, churches, and schools, almost certainly scooping up American citizens in the process, and dumping them in detainment camps. Do they imagine Trump will magically teleport people back to where they came from? Do they relish the thought of the screams and tears as families are broken apart, children are left without parents, and communities are destroyed? Never mind the fact that construction projects will grind to a halt, road work will stop in many places, farm animals will not be processed for meat, and vegetables and fruit will rot in the fields. It is absolutely the fault of both parties that we have relied so heavily on immigrant labor without making a reasonable immigration path for all the people we need. But what kind of monster thinks that mass detention and deportation is the answer to that? And to stand there cheering for that with big smiles on their faces. I just ... who even are these people? What broke inside of them to make that something to cheer for?

If they aren't white, cis, straight (although as long as you keep it to children and in the closet, it's fine), and "christian", there is no room for you. The fucking VP's wife is the daughter of immigrants and a POC. TFG's wife wasn't born in America. Fuck every single one of them. It's moments like this that I hope there's a Hell, because they're gonna be super surprised when their end comes.

For all their outward piety, they're not believers any more than I am. But they lack any semblance of inner moral compass and are just here to grab as much power and wealth as they can. And they certainly see the potential for using religion to control the masses on their way to the top.

It is absolutely the fault of both parties that we have relied so heavily on immigrant labor without making a reasonable immigration path for all the people we need. IMO, the answer is in Trump's response during the debate... immigrants are stealing "Black jobs" and "Hispanic jobs." The inference is that there are also "White jobs." So if you direct Black and Hispanic people down to the jobs filled by immigrants... you know, by ending DEI and all those unqualified people in positions they don't deserve... then *poof*, there are more good White jobs. Which is exactly what these folks want to hear.

Being a maga/gop christian does not make a good person! They can thump their bible all they want, but it is nothing if they don't practice and believe it's contents.

When they chose an unqualified loser just to "get the libs," it became their unifying force, their fun, their religion. The sad part is, most of us will feel a little sorry for them when they find out they're screwed along with everyone else, should he (heaven forbid) get to the White House. Ignorance can be repaired (if one wants to--TFG doesn't care about his), but "You can't fix stupid," as comedian Ron White said.

And he mentions former President Obama. black jobsAcyn @acyn Biden: I know what a Black job is. It’s the Vice President of the United States

I saw parts of the convention. Trump was still wearing his badge of courage, the huge bandaid on his ear. He went on for quite awhile about the attempt on his life. Below is some of what he said. I did catch one part where he said that in the moment, he felt "serene".
At the end of an energetic convention, Trump — his ear still bandaged, his voice softer than usual — accepted his third-straight Republican presidential nomination by claiming, like many other speakers this week, that “the grace of an almighty God” saved him from assassination so that he, in turn, could save America. “There was blood pouring everywhere, and yet in a certain way, I felt very safe because I had God on my side,” Trump said. “I felt that.”
I saw someone post something on either X or TikTok that said why did God save Trump and not the children of Uvalde.

One hour 33 minutes of lies! ABC… ”Donald Trump's acceptance speech at the RNC lasted one hour and 33 minutes. That makes it the longest presidential nomination acceptance speech in recorded history. The previous record was 1 hour 15 minutes, also set by Trump in 2016.” x.com/abc/status/1814168399536103824?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

Do they imagine Trump will magically teleport people back to where they came from? Do they relish the thought of the screams and tears as families are broken apart, children are left without parents, and communities are destroyed? sadly, in some cases, I think they DO relish the thought of this. Cue the 'well, they brought it on themselves, so...' ignorant thinking that leads people to feel glad about other people being 'lower' than they are.

Several years ago in a town down the road from me, they did several raids. One on particular, yes the father was undocumented, they went in, grabbed him, dragged him him away while his children watched while crying... The wife was not home, because she was working at their 'dollar' store, which was thriving locally.
They tossed the house, looking for whatever... Papers turned up missing including the mother's naturalization papers.. As well as all the court papers that the family was using to have the father naturalized also.
My question, where are people supposed to keep naturalization papers, passports, birth certificates etc to keep them safe, but also to have on hand to prove you belong here. I don't have all mine here. Do you?

I’m watching it. As a conservative, it is nice to see like minded people come together to support a good cause. Curious if you think the mass deportations are a good cause? Mostly a rhetorical question, it seems unlikely that you will come back to this thread.

The mass deportations signs are disgusting as well as idiotic. I don't think those Trump supporters have any idea how that will affect them personally. In addition to the obvious humanitarian reasons, we won't have anyone to pick crops, the hospitality and restaurant industries will be even more massively understaffed that they already are, construction will grind to a halt, we won't have crews to do infrastructure and road repairs etc. Not to mention sending the economy into a recession. But conservatives and right wing media have people spun up about "migrant crime" Not a fan of George W, but even he saw the writing on the wall regarding isolationism/ protectionism/ nativism/ America first. George WIan bremmer @ianbremmer we’ve come full circle. worth a moment of your time.

reviews of Trump's speechChristopher Webb @cwebbonline The pundit reviews of Trump’s RNC speech are in:
David Axelrod - This was the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.
Van Jones - If Biden had given a speech that incoherent, that rambling, that undisciplined, Democrats would’ve hit Biden with a tranquilizer dart and dragged him off.

Mostly a rhetorical question, it seems unlikely that you will come back to this thread. People who enter our country illegally should be deported. My friends who immigrated legally tend to agree with that. It seems most people don’t like to make that distinction. The problem is, Americans want to take care of the world, when we don’t have good systems in place for our own citizens.

What about minors who were brought here at very young ages. They know no other place to live. They had no choice about coming here. They in general are well educated, speak fluent English and may not even speak the language of their parents. They work and contribute, pay taxes, start businesses. They have no where to go!!
