That's my MIL's line when one of the kids asked why she votes Republican. "Because they stick up for the little guys." Ha ha ha I am not watching, I'd rather stab my eyes out with a dull toothpick.

Um no. I saw a bit where Eric Trump was announcing for Florida and he was casting votes for 'The greatest President of the US."
I had to turn it off.

I would rather have my toenails extracted with a pliers. To be fair, I feel almost the same way about the Democratic convention.

Texas delegation there is a man in a cowboy hat holding up a t-shirt "Where is the Jeffery Epstein Client list?"
Very unusual....

I usually watch the evening news but I couldn't even stand to watch that tonight. I will probably force myself to watch Trump's acceptance speech. I traditionally watch the acceptance speeches of the nominees of each party.

I’m watching it. As a conservative, it is nice to see like minded people come together to support a good cause.

I get my news from many different sources. Calling for gun control and using extreme negative words to describe people who believe differently than you belongs to Hitler and Castro. I also watch CNN and MSNBC and it appears that hate is the only platform the Democrats really have (maybe they will have a different platform by the convention). If the gunman had been successful, what platform do they have except hate? Oh I remember, it doesn’t count as harm to a child if it happens where people in Drag are performing, let’s disarm all citizens and keep the borders open so the world can come in and destroy everything my husband, grandfather, great grandfather fought for.

What?? joylynaroundthebnd#1- Do you have documentation that children are harmed where drag people are? There certainly is a lot of documentation where children are injured for life by pastors, ministers, priests and other adults in authority. #2- Very few people that I know have said anything about disarming all citizens. Yes, I am for gun controls: background checks, registration, similar to regulations for vehicles, responsible storage of guns and ammo, no one needs an assault type weapon, not good for hunting, destroys the meat as does shot gun 'balls', red flag laws, and yes with the courts involved to protect all parties, gun safety classes and insurance. Surely that is not all, but a start. #3- I don't know anyone who wants open borders. #4- Numerous members of my family members, past and present have served our country. Most recent, my youngest DGS just came home from the Army. Living cousin served two tours in Vietnam. Someone has recently offered to take pictures of my uncle's grave in Manila, because he was killed on New Guinea during WWII. There are recorded records of others who have served during and since the American Revolution. There are a whole lot of people here whose families have served this country.

They really ARE the party of the uneducated and unintelligent--they have them fooled into thinking that they care and meanwhile they continue to enact policies that are designed to keep people poor and uneducated and making money for the rich.
They are so blind. Every (literally) stupid white person I know is a Trump supporter. They are blind sheep and they continue to call Democrats sheep without seeing what's going on in front of their very eyes.
That doesn't mean I think all Republicans are stupid --not at all. They've got a good thing going on for themselves, that's for sure.

I thank everyone for their service. Children should not be exposed to explicit material (in my opinion) ever. Yes, children have been harmed by other adults- I was molested as a child and teen by my father. About open borders - my opinion - if you are against walls at the border, deportation upon illegal entry - you are for open borders. Because at that point there is nothing to stop anyone from coming in. As far as gun control. There are so many laws on the books that are not being enforced. Restricting law abiding citizens further isn’t going to solve anything. We can’t even get law enforcement to put red flags on those individuals who, by their own actions shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun.

This image showed up in my Bluesky feed and I can't stop thinking about it, and want to apply it to everything, cause it's not just Corporate America. Eventually, people simply need things to function, for food to be available, for medical attention to be available, etc. For Americans, even with some significant road bumps, the post WWII economy has been very beneficial whether they feel like it has or not. So successful, that a large number of people who don't worry about if they are going to eat today or have a safe, dry place to sleep (the standard for almost all of human existence) are upset about how hard their lot in life is. But everything this GOP is selling will make it more difficult to have functional spaces. More difficult to have a low inflation environment. More difficult for small business owners to find people to work for them. More difficult when climate events disrupt power, supplies, water etc. We saw a little bit of that with the pandemic, and people did.not.like.it.one.bit. They won't like it in the future even more. The thing about the game of hot potato is you don't want to be the one holding it, when the game stops. This group wants to make sure they are and are gleeful about their accomplishments! Remember that. Make them own it in the future. "You chose this, with your vote."

Totally. I live in a blue state and our politicians are just as corrupt as the Republicans. They just support social issues that make them look like better people. They aren't. There are also a lot of dumb Dems. See all of the dumb asses who posted on social media that they wished Trump had died. Like, go ahead and think it but don't act surprised when you lose your job, get canceled, etc.

Jamie Raskin, Liz Cheney, Chris Murphy, Katie Porter, Adam Kinzinger, AOC, Bernie, Elizabeth Warren... And not much gets done these days because Republicans are only interested in sticking it to the libs and protecting their boy from prison, not doing bipartisan deals, e.g. the border deal.
