Speaking of algorithms, I’ve been signed up to an online dating site for a few months and they keep showing me all these topless men with suspect dental situations and poor grammar. I have never once swiped right on anyone like this, so why do they keep showing them to me? (And yes, it has struck me that maybe this is all there is, but that thought is too horrifying to comprehend. 😱) And today I was propositioned by a 37-year-old! Really? 🤦🏼♀️ (I’m 60.)I mean, why not??!? You can be his Sugar Momma!

Kohl's and the frequent changing of the prices. Literally have to check the price every day.
I usually don't shop there, but I had a gift card. I spent the gift card and earned $10 in Kohl cash, that needs to be spent this week. I'll probably end up doing what I usually do....make a purchase, then return it (the replacement kohl's cash is good for 30 days).

It's my bday and I have to drive DD to a Writer's Workshop about an hour away, each way. I love that she's doing it, but I hate being in traffic. Happy Birthday! 🥳🎂🎉

I have two, one is kind of old though. A couple weeks back, I went to McDonald’s for lunch with my kid on the way to the lake cabin. I ordered my usual, a McChicken and a medium fry. We get through the drive through and are on the road, I eat my fries first (because that’s what you do) and finally take a bite of my sandwich and it has a FISH patty inside the bun! 🤬🤬🤬 WTELF?!? Nasty! I literally threw the rest away even though I was starving. And to add insult to injury, when I registered my complaint (hoping to get a coupon for a free sandwich or something), I got NO reply whatsoever. Yeah, not happy.
My other one isn’t a complaint for me but for my poor kid. She had to get a palate expander put in on Monday and OMG she’s miserable. She has to have the dumb thing for the next twelve weeks to prep for upcoming braces. Every single thing she eats gets trapped. I wish there was anything I could do to help. It’s awful.

it's not petty, but I am supposed to hear back this week about an interview I had last week. Of course crickets.
It's for a hospital, so they very much could have been impacted by the mess on Friday. There are a dozen reasons I haven't heard from them (yet) that have nothing to do with a no. What does my brain do? come up with a dozen reasons it's a no. The number of times I have had to talk myself down from fixating on things not in my control is driving me crazy. If they do call me then I'll be working full time which means I should be enjoying my free time now. but will my anxious brain let me do that? noooooo.
plus my birthday is Monday and things are tight for us right now, and it's making me not want to adult.
Edit: got the thanks but no thanks email today. I had a good interview too, so I'm at a total loss.

My petty vent is that I made it through the hurricane with practically no issues or damage (other than no power for 12 hours). So what happens this week on Monday appx 6pm? My internet goes out! No outage but there's a problem with the fiber box that feeds my part of the neighborhood. The same box they did reconnects on last Thursday/Friday after clearing an outage (that was only minimally impacting me).
So no internet until tomorrow (I have a tech appt between 4 and 8pm). I have to go into the office on my WFH week! Plus, I'll probably have to miss our civic club meeting that's at 7 tomorrow.
I've resorted to using my old LG tablet that I've kept on my cellular/data plan as a hotspot for the TV. Just an FYI, an older device (possibly any phone or tablet used as a hotspot) cannot support TWO streaming devices.

I don’t know where to start 😂
Last week at work, my office mate who sits 6’ away from me sent me an email that required no action…it was just to let me know about a check that arrived.
Me: I am sitting right here.
Her: I didn’t know what you were working on and didn’t want to bother you.
Me: you just finished telling me about how your son never needed a curfew.
She chuckled and said I know. 🙄

2. I ALWAYS pick the slowest line at McDonald's, no matter what it looks like when I pull up. Every. Single. Time. Listen, it's a pretty limited menu, it shouldn't take your passenger spending five minutes looking at the board to decide what they want. GO INSIDE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. Aaargh, this is me trying to get through the train station gates and then the gates at the football stadium. It doesn't matter which line I pick, long or short, the idiot(s) in front of me will always have an issue tapping their train card or their football membership card / ticket to open the gates. Every. Damn. Time. It's become a running joke.

3. Facebook is convinced that I want to reminisce about The Legend of Billie Jean. This shitty movie might have been inspiring when I was 12 or whatever, but I haven't thought about it since, and I want to know what algorithms are responsible for me seeing clips and stills from it every single day. Me too!!! And I don’t even know this movie. Wtf

My petty complaint is that my office is FREEZING. I spend the first hour sweating to death and then the rest of the day wrapped up in a blanket. My hands are so cold, and this blanket ruins the look of my cute outfit! My office is freezing too, have to use a space heater all day. The whole first floor of the building is unbearably cold due to one person in upper management who is always too warm. Students walk around with blankets and puffy coats. This is South Florida and it is 100,000,000 degrees outside and I need to use a space heater to function.
My petty vent is I took Friday off and overwhelmed with the thought of free time - what to do and really need to leave the house sometime besides for work. Considered going to TJ Maxx or to this really good Italian market, but the thought of dealing with traffic and humans is not appealing.

That I see weird stuff going on and can never find out what's happened. Pretty much the only source of local happenings is a couple facebook pages run by people who listen to law enforcement scanners all day. They'll post what they hear if they think it is interesting. This morning driving to work I saw a convoy of 10 sheriff SUVs, 2 armored SWAT vehicles, a firetruck, and an ambulance headed up the road near my house. Typically this mean's someone's illegal pot grow is about to be busted and that just delights me. I want to know what happened! Which grow did they get? How many people were arrested? What were the environmental conditions like at the grow? But you never hear anything about it. It will be on no news channels, no FB groups, there will be no press release, nothing. I got a couple roads further into my drive and a firetruck turned in front of me with it's lights on. No sirens, didn't appear to be in a hurry. We get a few miles further and there's a couple more sheriff's cars, 2 more firetrucks, and an ambulance and they are pulling a truck out of a ditch. The truck looks like it had been there for quite a while. This is the same spot where a few weeks ago someone hung up lacy red and white lingerie all over the fence on the side of the road. Seems like an odd occurrence to me and I wish I could find out the story behind the truck. Did it have something to do with the lingerie? What happened to the driver? How long do they think the truck was under water? Again, nothing on the news. Nothing in FB groups. I will never know and my curiosity eats at me.

Wow nothing that exciting happens here but we don’t have local news. Sometimes they will post on the sheriffs FB page but it’s usually so vague. If anyone asks in a local FB page you usually just get sarcastic answers so you never find out unless there is a death.

I got lunch today at the Panda Express in the dining area on campus with some friends who also work for the university. We do lunch once a week on Wednesdays. I put my order in the app to be picked up at noon. At 11:50 I got a text that said it was ready. I got there at noon and they said my order wasn't ready. At 12:13 my order was finally ready. I was getting really hangry, and I was really perturbed that they didn't even offer me a wonton or something else for the delay.

I got sworn at in work today, when I tried to help a dyslexic patient get the right medication sent to the right destination after they'd ordered the wrong item. I hope you set that fool straight. I would. The very nerve. And if they asked my name to make a complaint I'd spell it out for them. Asshole Thank you for the support. He called me an F-ing m0ron then hung up on me, so I didn't get the chance to set him straight. But the conversation was recorded, and I reported the call to my manager. He'll be getting a letter telling him one more strike and you're out. If he's had one already, he'll be told to register elsewhere, and the records that go to his new surgery will contain details of his behaviour. It isn't only patients who have the right to a "second opinion".

I Liked a still of Lindsay Lohan in the Parent Trap, and have been seeing clips from the film ever since. I got rid of them by hiding them and selecting See Fewer Posts like this and they've gradually gone. Now I'm getting a gazillion necklaces after ordering a gift...

I had a dream about a bunch of owls attacking me. I woke up and it was the cat howling — mrooooooowwwww, mroooooowwwww. It was 3am and I couldn’t get back to sleep. What was so important that he had to say it at 3am? He has not shut up since then and it’s 6:30 now.

I've had them be out and try to pass off a Coke Zero as the same thing. NOT ON YOUR LIFE. I went a few weeks ago because I really, really wanted a large Coke. And they were out. I was so annoyed.

My vent is that I bought a new Dyson vacuum about 2 years ago and have had it in the box since then. I was waiting to open it when we got new carpet. Well, we got the new carpet and I tried to use it last night and the brush wont spin and it's like trying to push a shopping cart through sand. I took it to our office carpet and it works just fine. So apparently my new carpet it too plush. Now I have to find another vacuum to spend money on that will actually work. I have the same problem with my Dyson after getting new carpet last fall. My DH has to vacuum now cause I can’t push it. He usually just picks it up and walks to the wall and sets it down and pulls back all the way to the other wall. Then picks it up and does that again for entire house. 🤦🏼♀️

My complaint of this whole month, I have to have another surgery soon. I’ve known since July 3rd, but my consult with that dr isn’t until Aug 1st. Ugh! I can’t schedule anything at work cause I don’t know when it will be or how long I’ll be off work. August is a busy month for hairdressers, and I’m very much a planner. 😢

twistedscissors That is a BIG issue, IMO. I also need to plan ahead. My complaint is that I am making too many runs to the airport! It's 40 minutes each way. When I agreed to let my grandson live with me to play hockey here, I did not consider how often he'd fly back and forth, or how often his parents and sister would all fly in and out. Last week I picked up my friend, because her DH is vision impaired and can't drive. She didn't want to Uber alone at night. I was happy to help, but I've been to the airport about 10 times this summer!

I worked at a bank for eight years, in four different offices. The three offices that had male branch managers were always FREEZING COLD to the point that all the women would have to wear sweaters all day even during the height of summer. It was because the branch manager controlled the thermostat, and because they wore suits they were always hot unless the temperature was set on arctic blast. 🤬 So annoying.

Happy Belated Birthday dawnnikol . Please celebrate your birthday this weekend, all weekend and maybe next week, too. My petty complaint is that I had a mani/Pedi for the first time in 5 years, less than 48 hours ago. I woke up and my nail polish is already peeling. I'm not going to demand a refund or go back. It would be a pointless trip. It's not worth my time. I'll just find a new color here. The issue is that at home, I don't use polish that has an odor. Overall, life is good when my biggest complaint is nail polish.

Not a complaint, but more of a giggle. On Saturday we were in line to board a full Southwest flight out of Chicago. They were doing a final call for the A boarding group when a group rushed up like they had just made their connecting flight. Their passes were scanned and when she scanned the last of the group (they looked college age), she stopped the girl and told her that she can’t board yet with a C boarding group assignment. The girl tried to argue that she was with friends, but the gate agent gave her a “nice try” look and let her know she was welcome to board in her assigned line position.
