I guess our differences is what makes the world go around. I hated it. Did they even practice? What in the world was Lady Gaga even doing? Was she a quail? I much prefer the parade of nations in a coliseum. A drag queen fashion show? How is that even remotely about the Olympics? Every nation/city does it their own way. We had 'The Queen' skydiving with James Bond and a dance routine about the NHS (which one famous Pea swore was a dig at the USA) - it's not just about directly about the Olympics, it's the city's expression of itself intertwined with the Olympics I guess.

Three days out, it can be said that the French accomplished two things: they got people talking about the opening ceremony much louder and longer than is usual, and they amplified the ignorance and arrogance of certain groups of people who are happy to double down and make fools of themselves on the world stage.
Bon travail, France!

that was the worst opening we have seen in years. so much so that we tuned out in less than an hours. i read lots of summaries of what happened next and i'm glad we didn't stick it out.
the next summer Olympics is here in L.A. i'm really hoping L.A. has a better opening than Paris did.
