The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the dove icons, but I knew that before I bought. The doves were one of the things I really liked in the kit. Not sure why. I like the design of them. janamke please share here what you plan to sell.

I love the kit! I don't mind the larger size embelishments this year and still plan to do 6x8. It's a new challenge! I haven't noticed anything missing from my kit but my blue washi is nasty looking when rolled out. I wonder if it wasn't intentionally made to be distressed? The first 6" or so are nice and navy. It looks to me like the navy color is sticking to the tape part as it unrolls-if that makes sense.

I loved Ali's advent calendar last year, so I'm doing it again this year.
I did the puzzle advent calendar from Aldi's last year and I loved it. It was 12 days so I did a puzzle every second day in December, which was perfect for lazy me.
I also get the Lindt one from Costco every year - it's the best that I've found.
I really want the jam one but I'm cutting down on sugar so doubt I'll get it.
I don't think you're ever really too old for the Lego Advent Calendars - my 24-year-old still does the City one every year.

I don't have a problem with the roll's stickiness, but it does look like some of my older washi rolls that deteriorated. We'll see what they say. I don't have the digital version of the main kit, but on the website the navy blue looks crisp.

I got my box today! Much earlier than last year. It was a big box. Damn boxing period. I just did an inventory of the contents and the main kit to account for things- so no thoughts on the items until I can really look at everything after work.
I was missing two things. The chipboard word phrases and a sticker tab sheet. I ordered two of the sticker tab sheets because I love them and use a ton so at least I got one. They sent that other sticker tab thing as my second one - that is like a sticker attacher instead.
They also sent me two of the big plastic jumbled words (I ordered one). Too bad they didnāt double something else I would like more! lol
All in all that is not that bad for as many things as I ordered. I hope they can send to me but Iāll live if they donāt- especially as I did get one of the sticker tab sheets.
I unrolled my blue washi- the first six inches are perfect and then it starts getting a bit spotty- like distressed. I still like the look and wonāt make an issue out of it and Iāll use it.

AE's customer service got back to me right away. They are sending me a replacement roll. All I did was ask if it was supposed to be distressed, and I added a photo, so I'm assuming it wasn't supposed to be that way.
Everything else in my order is fine, and I'm looking forward to playing with it.

Mainly I need something for my 16 year old. In the past we have done: jam, popcorn, funko pop (nothing new she's interested in), legos (too old now), and playmobil (also too old). It was around age 16 that I ran out of premade ones that were good for my daughter and started making it myself. It ended up being a huge hit and I'm still doing it with her (she's now 19). It's definitely more work, but I have had a lot of fun personalizing little gifts for her. In the past I've included ideas like: $5 gift cards to starbucks, dunkin, mcdonalds, etc., chapsticks, pens, stickers, $5, small makeup items, candy, gum, nail polish, jewelry, etc. I bought a pocket calendar that hangs on the wall the first time I did it and have reused it every year that she was at home. Starting last year she was away at college so I have just been wrapping small gifts and adding numbers + giving it to her at Thanksgiving. Not necessarily the answer you were looking for, but it's definitely a way to do one that is more personalized. janamke I did a tea one for myself one year from David's Tea. It was very nice, but they piled up because I don't drink tea everyday. Still, it was a fun way to try different teas. I made one for my older daughter one year when she was still a teen. It was a lot of fun, and for days I didn't have an idea, I just stuck a couple lottery scratch off tickes.

I finally got my box last night --- my washi is a little distressed, but I probably wont make them replace it as I kinda like the look. But I am somewhat concerned that the stickiness of the Washi isn't very much. Is anyone else's not very sticky?

mom, my washi doesn't have any stick to it. Once I get my replacement roll (mine is too distressed, you can barely read it), I figure I'll need to use glue with it. I do that with most of my washi anyways.

An update:
My AE DD package that shipped to Belgium and then forwarded to the US by my brother arrived a couple days ago!! YAY! Most everything is in good condition and all items are accounted for. As to quality, I've noticed the same issue with the blue washi. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way but after reading here I've contacted them for a replacement. The prompt pages are thin. I'd say they're slightly thicker than printer/copier paper. Certainly useable but not on their own. I also bought the floral journal intending it as a gift. It's rubbish. The spine is fully exposed, you can see the binding/glue (I may have just missed it in the listing). However, all the edges are damaged. It looks as though someone had owned it previously and continuously chucked it around. I've mentioned it to customer service so I'll see what happens. Otherwise I'm really loving everything this year.
As for my order shipped directly to my American address? I've neither received a shipping notice nor the package. But when I check Ali's site the status is listed as shipped!! Maybe I'll get it before Thanksgiving this year.lol
I'm excited to have some product to play with. I'll let everyone know when my US package arrives. It's just crazy to me though that it's faster to ship US-Europe-US than it is to ship Kentucky(I think)-PA. smh (shrug)
Hope everyone gets their goodies soon.

I don't think this is an Ali issue exclusively, so much of my washi is like that.

Hybrid class review so far:
I paid $12.00 for the class since I grouped with product play. There are 10 lessons. I've gone through the first 4.
I was expecting fewer lessons and that's just over 1$ a lesson so I'm okay with that. So far everyone has had at least two ideas in their lesson.
Again, it's a lot of photoshop instruction and ideas for things I could make myself with regular supplies. That was my overall take last year.
I have watched some of the videos but I'm not going to watch someone do stuff on photoshop that I know how to do so I won't be watching all of them.
I got one really good idea from Ronelia that I will definitely do. And another good idea from Sarah Jurs. She also included two zip folders of digital files that she made. I am happy for that because it saves me the time of having to make the thing myself.
So for me I am happy overall. I'm sick of listening to podcasts and playing on my phone in my office while I eat lunch. This is just better. So while I think other classes are better value, I think if you need photoshop lessons, this class will really seem good for you.
I'm not complaining at all. Looking forward to the rest of the lessons. This should get me through October when product play starts.
And so far I've not needed to buy any digital products. I probably will but I will only buy them when I know exactly what I'm going to use them for.

She had a post recently or story saying sheās a bit late but wondering if people are still interested. Her site stuff is last years. I have it and itās super good. I may use it this year. Iām just hoarding it for no good reason so it seems like I should commit to this year.

I loved Elif's kit last year and used some in my DD I'm also hoarding it! I'll likely buy whatever she puts out this year, digital or physical, TBH. Thanks for the review of the hybrid class, blemon! Has Ali said when she'll start releasing foundation pages? Can't wait to see what she does with those big pieces and patterns in a 6x8.

I haven't purchased any of the digitals because I decided to buy the physical kit this year, but it sounds like some of the ideas would transfer to physical scrapbooking.

A silly question.....received an email from Ali advertising DD classes. I've never taken any but am considering it this year. So the silly question, what's the difference between the product play and the prep day class? Trying to decide which, if either, to take.
They sound similar to me except one is live? I know this is stupid lol but I'm really having difficulty figuring out the difference. Sorry peas.š

I believe there are 12 lessons this year- 4 each in three different sizes. Prep day is live on 11/3 - but can be viewed anytime. I should say parts are live- like Ali/host at the top of every hour and there is also recorded content. Each hour is a new āclass.ā Past classes have included things like challenges - stamp words to make a page, organizational tips, photo ideas and tips, and actual walking you through making pages. Ali and other contributors usually have files for us to copy their pages. Itās a fun day - like like 6-10 hours of content depending on the year- will some free digitals. Worth the $5 for sure and different than product play. You could do both.

lanena I would say that it's the same as last year in the quality of the content. There are more lessons. I just looked and last year there were only 6 lessons so you were paying $2 each. So I guess you are getting more for what I think is the same price as last year.

More questions on classes. I've been burned in the past with AE classes, 2 of the 3 or 4 I've purchased were total duds and I asked for my money back. So I'm a tiny bit leery to do more.
But I want to learn more in photoshop with using Digital files. Specifically, the stuff Jennie Rey/thereypie does. Printing her own paper with the print/cut marks for her silhouette to cut. And foil quill. Is there a lesson of hers that is better than others for this kind of thing?

Spent the morning prepping some dd pages, my own little personal prep day, and have something done for 18/31 days. Pretty happy with that! (Note I am a simple scrapper so they are quite simple and they donāt involve any downloads or cutting machines or sewing or anything like that!) During the process I unearthed a box of hidden dd items I knew I had but couldnāt find. Then I totalled the kits Iāve bought from past dd that I havenāt used yet. I think Iām at fiveā¦ Ummm no more dd shopping for me until I get this stash at least halved peas as this is ridiculous (now hold me to it next year when I want to buy all the things!!!)

Yeah I'm with you...it's very disappointing. I'm glad I didn't pay full price. I'm thinking I might try to salvage it as some type of junk journal and gift that to my friend. Pictures and stories etc of us and I'll find some way to cover the binding with robin or something. sigh I'll see.

Decided on an advent calendar for my kid: survival.
We go camping a lot. She is also learning to drive so I think this will be very useful to keep in the car. It was about $40 for everything so I'm sure some things will be crap quality. But it came with a bag for one of the days so as things break, they can be replaced with better quality items. But I think she'll really like this.
