10 EST I signed up for Prep Day and was excited to get playing with supplies. But now I’m taking a road trip to an artisan holiday expo with 2 of my besties. Making memories for the album instead of pages. LOL

I’m using the 6x8 trees album and had an idea for the 10x8 paper with It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas. Has anyone ever made a pocket for the front of their album? The album is big enough to accommodate the entire phrase. It wouldn’t be too deep of a pocket, but it could be a fun way to not have to turn that page sideways for the smaller album. Thoughts?

Well crap. I got behind in life yesterday when my internet was out and I completely forgot about the Prep Day. Good thing it's recorded, lol.

I almost always make pockets for the front inside of my albums, but never for the outside. Are you thinking inside or out? Edited: Im not sure I am thinking the same thing you are...Im not sure what you mean with turn the page sideways?

I've been taking today to finish up October in Project Life.
I'm watching all the lives then during the breaks busting this thing out. The week of Oct. 21 had a lot going on but I finished it.
One more week left.
The recorded lessons look amazing. I'm really excited to play around. So far lots of great downloads. I will for sure make a page out of that dang gingerbread man cause he's so cute. I think I will hand stitch around the edges in red and white stripes. I saw a tutorial for it that looks easy but who knows once you get going with it.
His pants will be a vellum pocket.
My portrait fell to the floor during what was probably a cat fight while we were out of town. Silly cats. So I don't know if it's going to work and I'm so afraid to try. He is old but gets the cutting done. I hope my next post about him is not an RIP.
Off to scrap Halloween.
I can't wait to watch all the videos throughout this week.

Prep day has been good today. The live zoom is not recorded, but has been a nice add to the overall experience. Ali has popped in and out after each hour’s Live session - which is recorded. I have definitely seen things I will use, got some good free downloads and done some prep. Such a reliable experience.

I found this prep day to be mid (as the teens say) at best. Just too basic. I'm not into gingerbread. I didn't need a 30 minute video on sewing. I had no idea how to sew, I bought a machine, watched a few videos and figured it out. I'm a bit baffled why we needed that tutorial at all. Even Pam's stamping let me down this year.
Don't mean to be a Scrooge. This year was just a miss for me, lacking content. I will use the star cutout Ali hand stitched, that was a cute idea.
I listened to the videos and pulled supplies for page ideas in my head. Made some sketches. A lovely way to spend the day.

I forgot about the Prep day and cropped with the some Peas. Oh well. I am just getting to watching the videos and yeah....seems 'eh' but I was expecting that since Ali was sick earlier in the week. I also think some of the 'magic' is gone because it's so early in Nov and it still seems like Dec is a long time away (if that makes sense).

janamke I've just skimmed through but that was my impression too. I like the foldouts and the stitched/woven tree Ali did, but that's about all I can see myself taking away.

I can't switch from Halloween to full-on Christmas prep like that. The weather outside is nice, absolutely not frightful, the US election stress is up there, too. I don't get why they picked last weekend for Prep Day. Just odd. On a different note, I finally saw this perfume by Jo Malone in store and fell in love with the minimalist holiday aesthetic: Black and white stripes + warm gingerbread brown? Yes, please! I'll forever be a Felicity Jane vibes girl... Off to find some striped ribbon on AliExpress.

Felicity Jane was always SO good. One of my favorite ever DD albums was all her products. And I love me some Jo Malone, just wish it lasted longer than 30 minutes on me.

Simple, easy, clean, elegant but modern. 😭 And yes, Jo Malone is incredibly frustrating. Some beautiful scents with very little longevity. But I'm so glad I stopped by the store to get some unexpected DD inspiration today!

I didn't get a whole lot out of prep day. I clipped all the ideas I want to try and added them to my 2024 ideas. Still worth the $5!
I wish Ali used YouTube for her videos. It's a lot easier for me to access on our big tv. (Casting doesn't work...long story)

One thing I'm doing differently this year is separating out the journal cards I want to alter a bit, and doing that as part of my prep.
This year my focus is to use up everything I purchased. We'll see how that goes! Also, this year I pulled out only a few stamp sets, so I don't get too overwhelmed.
Now, if someone could convince me to get rid of the stuff in my stash I likely will never use...

One of the creators from Prep Day posted a video of the types of flips and hidden journaling she's done in past DD's, I love this book photo flip she did of holding the books she read in front of her tree.. I need to scrap lift this year lol (should start around 6:25 in the video!)

Shoot, can you share the name of the creator? I clicked but ended up watching about 9 minutes of someone else before realizing an error. The person I watched did every single thing that irritates me… frantic hands, saying ‘sh’ instead of ‘s’ (lash year, instead of ‘last year’ ugh!) and tongue tutting.

Thank you! That whole lesson was good! I got absorbed in Yin’s process and made a mock up, but then ran out of time and started watching the next hour. I think it was too early for me, I’m still focused on fall, but so much packed in. I’ll be rewatching later, for sure.

I watched Yin's video today. That page looks so fun!
I am definitely going to do that. I think there are easier ways to make the layers though. I will play around with it.
So happy to have the file to download. I can print multiples to have patterns to cut the other ornaments with.

Just watched Ali‘s first lesson and did immediately something. Her page is simple but cute and I used the stencil with Heidi Swapp‘s new inks and it worked great. So that makes me happy and feels good to be crafting something again.

I pulled my sparkly clear album *cough planner cover cough*, my small paper stash, the embellishments I've hoarded (oh, my precious Kelly Purkey/Paper Person die-cuts 😍) and used the Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit cologne bottle as a reference. Added earbuds and music for full immersion and less than 30 minutes later, I have a whole mini kit with some things already pulled as a story/page reference. I love-love- love what I came up with: warm amber browns, B&W striped paper, B&W dotted paper, soft pink, soft mint, dramatic red (with the cutest tone-on-tne berry print), deep pine and of course some wood print. I'm ordering a couple of ribbons including to finish my DIY DD kit as we speak but I'm finished, ladies! I've successfully shopped my own petite stash and felt the greatest satisfaction using my inspo photo. This was so much fun. Purchases for DD 2024: - 1 stamp set from Studio Calico with -20% coupon - glittery clear A5 planner cover from AliExpress for under 5€ - ribbon (under 3€ for two) To anyone lurking who needs a tiny cheerleader on their shoulder: DO IT! Dive into your stash and make your own kit. You can come up with the loveliest combos on your own. It's ok if you've missed out on that kit you really liked and wanted. You don't need to document 25 or 31 full stories to do DD either. Have fun building your own kit with what you already have and join us! Mandatory Harris gif because oof, USA, I'm so stressed for y'all - and the rest of the world - from across the pond!

Mom, have you tried etsy? That's the only place I buy ribbon from. I like that I can buy only a yard or two at a time instead of a whole spool. If there is something specific you are looking for I can check my past purchases for recommendations.
