Anyone in Ali's new This + This class that started this week? Initial thoughts? I haven't bought it but could be convinced if it is good.

Elif Sahin has a Christmas release coming Friday. It’s super cute and usable. I’m excited to show you guys my page. I did a project life spread but love all the little ephemera bits.

Are you adding writing and photos in the squares? Thank you! This is what I did last year: http://instagram.com/p/C1XVtDTuFQj So I either used some of the same pattern paper from the layout, or the stickers match what the story was about for that day. So I think I'll do something similar. It's really fun.

I shared my foundation pages over on youtube! I watched this yesterday! Great start. I love your idea of cutting that phrase into strips and making layers for the stories. That will look really cool. mom I bought the product play but haven't started it yet. I'm going to finish up the videos from prep day first. I also have to watch one more video from the hybrid class. Ingunn explains how to put text into a shape in photoshop. It's something I've never mastered despite watching many tutorials. But now that my photoshop is online (whatever they are doing now), my system might be the same as everyone else's so it might stick this time. Anyway, I'll start watching soon. I haven't even looked at the lessons. I did not care for those felt bows either. I like a more organic drippy bow.

It was announced on IG a little bit ago, that on Sunday, the remaining DD product that was held back for costumer service issues will be released. They have some of the tree albums and green felt numbers to name a few.

Anyone in Ali's new This + This class that started this week? Initial thoughts? I haven't bought it but could be convinced if it is good. I have enjoyed watching the content but haven't used the ideas shared so far. I think the main reason for this is that I'm not a huge user of stencils, silkscreens, etc in my DD. I really appreciate that they shared the format ahead of time allowing us to gather the supplies they are using. I'm starting to wonder if I'm in a little bit of a funk. I'm excited about all things DD and to tell the stories I've decided on for this year, I'm just not getting a lot of inspiration like I usually do. Prep day was fun but I thought a lot of the content was geared towards beginners. I love how Amy Gretchen gives suggestions for additional things you could try.

Prep day was fun but I thought a lot of the content was geared towards beginners. I love how Amy Gretchen gives suggestions for additional things you could try. I have only watched the first one so far, but I’m still shaking my head over it. I’m usually pretty impressed and inspired by Ali’s ideas, and even if I don’t replicate them (and tbh I rarely do), I really feel motivated to create something after seeing her work. But that one fell so flat for me. Making half-circle pockets for ornament shapes to sit in. Nothing cool or new there at all. But what’s worse for me (because I honestly don’t need or want or even LIKE everything to be *groundbreaking painstaking creative*. My main gripe was that it wasn’t even aesthetically appealing, imo, at all. It just looked cluttered and piled up. Diecut on paper, felt bow on diecut, ornament shape stuffed inside. Nothing about it looked cohesive to me. Using the ornament stencil just seemed like a lot of work for no gain. Using pattern paper and hand cutting a wonky circle would have exactly the same effect. The only part of the stencil that was intricate was the little stem part and she cut that part off. Lol. I just don’t get it. I did like the little clips she used, that’s a cute fit for the ornaments. But the rest… meh.

Has anyone messed around with Ali's die cut trees that she sold for DD? I tried painting one today with Liquidtex acrylic paint and it's almost like the paper is slick? How is everyone getting their paint to cover well? Using gesso first?

the whole thing is really cute but that gingerbread mothman though!! It's from a local artist, Liz Pavlovic. www.lizpavlovic.com/keeponcreepinonShe's amazing. This sticker has been in my stash a couple of years and I haven't found the right place for it. Maybe this is the year!

Extra DD 2024 goodies available from Ali Edwards right now. Some stuff already sold out but Liz's mini kit is still available! I almost got the Paislee Press mini but GRATEFUL20 doesn't work on new DD items so that gave me just enough room to pause and think instead of act on FOMO. I don't really need anything in the kit, personally (mostly working outside PPs this year) and I'm surprising my SO with annual passes (+ several bullet train tickets) for Disneyland Paris at Christmas so I walked away from my cart. No regrets but to anyone who had their eye on it but couldn't snag one before it sold out, now's your time! Happy shopping! blemon Love your gingerman AKA gingerpants. So cute - and funny. This would be wonderful to use to tuck away photos of Christmas dinner and stamp or write something about needing stretchy pants! 😆

I was also not super inspired by Ali’s lesson, which is unusual for me. I do think using the half circles as pockets is a good idea. I also liked Jill’s use of tags as gifts as well as her wishlist tags - those are definitely a reuseable concept for me. My fav of this set is Amy’s. Love the use of the bow with paper clip! I will absolutely reuse that idea. I also like her thread “pockets” - super creative. I am not a stencil person, so I am sure that is part of why I did not gel with these. I do anticipate I will reuse the most from Amy. I always look at the PP classes to get inspo vs a full page idea so I am OK with my take away so far. Looking forward to this next week.

For now, he's ready to go. I don't know if I'll even put a face on him. I'll have to see. The gingerbread family I got at Target is really cute. Maybe I'll copy their faces.

I was watching random DD videos on IG and Youtube today while I cleaned up my craft space and it just really solidified that I'd never be able to be one of those crafty content creators, especially the ones who take really beautiful and aesthetic photos & videos of their projects. Cos what do you mean your cutting mat isn't covered in old adhesive residue, washi tape, and paint? Your paper trimmer doesn't have random pencil marks along the bottom because you kept forgetting the size you needed to cut things? You clean between uses?!

Super late to this thread this year! My AE DD order shipped the earliest it ever has for me. I was missing one item but have since received it. I didn’t buy an album because I have several to choose from already, and I haven’t decided what size I want to do for sure…leaning 6x8. Christmas is my favorite, but it’s a weird year for us. I’m not sure I will have the content or inspiration to do a full album this year. I have several other ideas floating around that I may try if I’m up to seeing it through. If all else fails, it may just be a Catsmas album haha. mom those Papertrey Gingerbread stitching dies are a new set this year. I am in the PTI stitching group on FB and their new stitching ambassador announced it. PTI also released a different gingerbread design in 2013-2014. I have the originals, so I didn’t pick up the new set although it’s tempting because of the extra details included. Has anyone received a Paper Person shipping notice?

I know Shimelle’s JYC fell flat for a lot of folks the past few years, I totally get that, so just scroll past if you’re not a fan.
Just popping in to relay that she has opened the forums so people can make sure their login/password works, and has Alice ready to reset passwords (the reset button doesn’t work because of spam blockers, and Alice will get to it faster before December 1st). The customer service email where is alice.shimelle.com@gmail.com
It’s the TWENTIETH year of JYC and if you do love it, remember to recommend to a new scrappy friend. Because she gave lifetime access I don’t think she’s earning much income from the class any more. I was considering buying it again under a different email address just to say thank you for many years of inspiring content.

Has anyone received a Paper Person shipping notice? I received a PP shipping notice this afternoon. No ETA yet, just label created.
I'm working on my 2019 December album.
I have several work and friend parties to document but in my stash there are ZERO stickers/stamps/chipboard that say party - family party, friends party, holiday party, Christmas party, pajama party, nothing!
There's festive and gather and celebrate but no party. Why????

I’m glad you at least have a shipping notice! I’ll check my stash for party stamps. I know I have birthday ones, but I’ll see about any holiday leaning.
