For sure! Still got covid 1x even with the vaccine, but I can't imagine how bad it would have been if I hadn't been vaccinated. Question: does anyone get both the covid and flu vaccines at the same time??? I’ve gotten both at the same time multiple times without issues.

I have the current variant and would not call it mild! I am miserable. I’m on Day 5 and can barely move. My head hurts constantly, my throat feels like I have tiny pieces of glass in it, my teeth feel like they’re going to fall out (weird), I’ve lost all sense of taste and smell, and I soaked through my sheets for the 3rd night in a row. This is NOT mild. That sounds miserable! Hope you’re feeling better quickly!

I can't get any of the covid vaccines, or any MRNA vaccines. I am 'technically' allergic. I got myocarditis from the vaccine.

Question: does anyone get both the covid and flu vaccines at the same time??? I'm not allowed to. It is because I reacted to the Pfizer vaccine and now receive the Moderna one. My body freaks out at the rush of work my body is doing and my lymph nodes swell. So because of that it is too risky to get both. I have to wait a month between. So Sept is Covid and Oct is flu. My parents get both and he we had issues.

Yes! We are both in our seventies and so far, have had 6 shots. Neither of us have had Covid, so we will definitely go for the next booster. I don't want to get this far with no infection, just to contract the newest strain.

Yep. I get whatever they offer me. I'm a teacher so I work in a sea of germs and tend to get anything that is going around.

Absolutely, I neglected to get the booster last year and got my first case of Covid in May after a cruise and flight. I was just asking at the pharmacy Wednesday. Cruising again beginning of September and going to Europe in October. Don’t think I can manage to get one before cruise, but I plan to before October.

Yes, but since I just had Covid 2 weeks ago, the advice I read yesterday was to wait 2-4 months since I have some immunity and to get the flu shot in September or October. Getting over COVID at present. Dad tested positive and we all have the same symptoms. The last 2 weeks were spent in bed, mostly in a fitful sleep. The cough was bone jarring bad. Yesterday, I had energy and was able to catch up on chores. Today, I am having to sit down between flipping the bacon as it is frying. This is the 2nd time this year. I’m still not over the “viral syndrome/Long COVID.” I am ready to quit work and never leave my house again. I have no memory of January through half of February. This time was horrible! I don’t think I can do this again…losing weeks of my life. Seriously, didn’t even have the energy or focus to read. The 2-4 months post infection is good info to have. Thank you!

Question for those who don’t want to get a vaccine because it makes them feel unwell for a few days after- Don’t you want to pick what days you don’t feel well? Like get your vaccine on a Friday and spend the weekend watching movies and sleeping so that you don’t end up with the flu or Covid or shingles when it’s more inconvenient? Are you just gambling you won’t get sick?

I'll get vaxxed as soon as it become available at my clinic. With the flu shot, too. I'm all about preventative care.

Are you just gambling you won’t get sick? I actually welcomed the sick days that didn't count against me...that's how tired I was of working. It was like a small vacation where no one could bother me for anything. And isn't every single day a gamble you don't get sick, if you leave your house and work with the public?

Are you just gambling you won’t get sick? For me, it’s NEVER convenient for me to not feel good. I’m a teacher, parent to a competitive gymnast, parent to a soccer and baseball player and I go go go all the time. It was hard for me to plan my shingles vaccines because I had to find 2 weekends or 3 days in a row twice to not feel good. Thankfully I didn’t end up feeling poorly from either shingles shot. I know what the Covid shot does to me- I basically feel like I have Covid for 3 days. No thanks. I’ll take my chances at dodging it. I had it December 2021 and July 2024 and no lingering effects so far- pretty good odds to me.

Yes, I've been fighting cancer this year and will absolutely be getting the booster.
Last year I had both Covid and flu vaccines at the same time and will probably do the same again unless my onc wants me to space them.

Absolutely. I’m diabetic. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis. My daughter is still sick from a post-viral syndrome that was not caused by Covid. She’s been sick since March. My bc other daughter is also vulnerable - she has POTS and a hypermobility disorder.

My question is do you know you have Covid by your symptoms or are there new swabs out for testing? I have not seen any test kits that are not out dated there are test kits - they were a bit hard to find in late July when we were looking for them - both CVS's here were sold out and we ended up with the last one at Walgreens

Are you just gambling you won’t get sick? I won’t get it because the first (and only) booster I got (after the initial 2 vaccination series) gave me reactions that were very troublesome. I’m not willing to take risks with it. My work offers $1000 to get updated boosters and I pass. I’m lucky that I can do that. I have never had COVID. I barely get any sickness actually. I’m willing to risk getting COVID and counting on my body to handle it over risking more known (and unknown) effects from the booster.

I got my flu and booster shot together last year. My dr. always says to wait a bit for the flu vaccine since you really need the protection later in the flu season. I tend to get mine between Halloween and Veteran's Day. Will do both at the same time. I get them on a Friday, so if I start feeling poorly, I have a few days to recover. So far, so good. This will be my 6th Covid vaccine.

No I’ve not had any of them - I’m lucky my boss said it was up to us as individuals as to wether we had Covid shots or not. There are 2 of us in our office who have not had any shots since the very beginning And I have had Covid 2 with no long term effects (loss of smell etc)

I'm more concerned about the cold going around. I have been down for 4 weeks so far. Fever, severe bronchitis, ear infections, pink eye, I was also diagnosed with asthma because of this cold. This was NOT Covid and it was NOT the flu. This was a cold. NOT RSV, a cold. I am still dealing with it 4 weeks later. I have been tested for everything. Covid was a walk in the park compared to this. I know a bunch of people who got his and it has taken all of them at least a month to get over it.
I also will only get a booster from an actual physician. My first 2 covid shots were given by a pharmacist who went too high and too deep, I ended up with severed acute bursitis and had to have 2 shoulder surgeries to remove the bursa in both shoulders. The pain was unbearable for 2 years.

I'm immunocompromised with heart damage and a history of pulmonary embolisms so yes, I will be getting every COVID (and flu) booster from now until the end of time.

I’ll be getting it. I’m my mom’s caretaker and she’s medically fragile. I don’t want to pass anything on to her.
