I’ve used up lots of my SSDK leftover yarn to make an ‘around the house only’ poncho. It was a lucky dip process hence the colours 😆. Loving everyones makes

malibou, sending best wishes on the cataract surgery. I had mine done in 2023, both at the same time, in the end the process was fine but the anticipation was something else. Would your Mum be interested in Painting by numbers? There are some lovely images available. Everything you need is in the kit except perhaps a magnifying glass if that is helpful. If she is interested I would suggest canvases that are already stretched out on a frame. A variation on that is diamond painting.

chaosisapony did you design the cups yourself? They are very cool and I think I might need to keep an eye out for skull cups. It is very me and my kids. JoP for lucky dip your colours came out delightful!

JoP - I LOVE that poncho! What a great idea to use up your leftover bits and bobs of yarn. The mix of colors reminds me of a very scrappy quilt made with leftover fabrics. Will definitely cheer up anyone on a gloomy winter day!

malibou I would worry at her age she might have the hand dexterity to embroider and cross stitch. Is she having trouble making new friends? I would think she'd be surrounded by so many people. However, any change especially if she was in her home/neighborhood for a long time would upend life. I hope she settles in.

JoP I think it turned out great. I have the new granny square card deck coming next week and I was hoping it could cut into my SSDK stash too.

wellway I didn't think of paint-by-number. That would totally work for her. Thank you. And yes, the anticipation about my eyes has been the worst. I'm not nervous about the surgery, but the fact that I have never had good vision has me so hopeful on one hand and bummed if it doesn't quite correct and I have to still wear glasses when we paid big money on the other hand. jeremysgirl she doesn't seem to have any mobility or dexterity issues but I will tell my brother to watch for that if she gets frustrated. I think she is having trouble making friends. My mom is very much a people pleaser, to her own detriment. And she seriously wants someone to entertain her all of time. She is making it hard for my brother to get a job, which he needs to do. I'm hoping that the things I'm sending she will do out in the common areas and those that are interested will come chat with her and hopefully join her.

JoP I love your poncho. I used to have a sweater I bought at a thrift store that was clearly an attempt to use up scraps. I loved that sweater and wore it to literal pieces. I would so wear that poncho out and about.

boys5times I'm pretty sure you can't overdo the ruffles on a one hear old girls dress. 😉 Just saying. Well, that was my original thought too. But now that the skirt part is almost done, I'm 2nd guessing that. I'll stick with it and see how is looks after I attach the bodice and sleeves.

JoP , love it and now you giving me ideas wellway, it’s based on Lucy Attic 24 at home poncho - she’s never released a pattern so I ‘winged it’ - as jeremysgirl will confirm, that’s so not me 😆🤨

Funny I was on her blog at the weekend, first time in ages, and noticed she's only posted twice since April. Hope all is well with her.

I do fine with charts but prefer written patterns, so was thinking about getting the companion book as well. JoP - love that - the colors are beautiful

These are the WIPs I posted about yesterday. I should finish the blanket by the end of the month. The cross stitch - well let’s just say I’m a slow stitcher so maybe by Christmas 😂

However, I have been doing this a very long time and charts actually work much better the way my brain processes information. I do not expect to have any problems.

This is one of two Halloween inspired quilts that I worked on this summer. This was my first quilt along and although it doesn’t scream Halloween it was a fun one!

First time poster (to this thread) long time lurker I don't see myself as crafty but thanks to my very creative sister in law, I'm diving into the world of miniatures. I rescued an old doll house I found in a corner of my old works building and she is helping me restore it. She has been creating miniatures for years and has had exhibits in different museums so I have an amazing teacher. This is the before photo. So far I have removed all the wallpaper, flooring, windows and shutters. It's all sanded down and I'm going to paint it white (primer) this weekend. After that I get to start hanging wallpaper and install flooring. That will be a lot more fun that trying to get who knows how old of wallpaper off the walls. It's been quite the challange. The house is 1:12 scale. This weekend I practiced making tiny home depot and amazon boxes cause you can't move into a new house with those, right?

Our very dear phoenixcov, whom we sadly lost just over a year ago, made the most wonderful miniatures and we were in awe of her talent.

I love those little sleep sacks, so cute. I've done zero crafting, after packing a gazillion boxes I just haven't had the energy. We're going to be staying with friends while we have renovations done so I've prepared my knitting basket so I'll have something to do in the evenings.
