I've been working hard to get this darn thing done before Saturday - I'd have LOVED to do another repeat, but just had no time (had the yarn, not the time). But I'm super happy with it! Their wedding invitation said please no gifts - but this was started before the invite came, and hey - it's not a wedding gift, it's a boat-warming gift! LOL (they just bought a new boat lol) My first Watcha-Ma-Callit from Hooked on Sunshine! I used a Cotton Kings yarn - Mystic Opal. It's much brighter in person than the photos on Hobbii make it look. I realized as I laid it out that my centre is a bit twisted - but I followed all the directions and changed corners when it said to. It could be my tension - I'm not great at keeping it steady. I can't share it on FB until I give it to them!!

Now that we have decided we are definitely going to Australia for Christmas, I thought I should get started on a cardigan each for the girls. This one is for Lucia - it is a ballet style cardigan, made in a really pretty ombré sock yarn Despite being thin yarn, it is coming along quickly, probably because I have so much time to knit right now

I finished another chemo cap. I really loved this yarn. It was Caron Simply Soft Speckles and the colorway is called "Vintage".
I'm really working on trying to finish up some WIPs. I want to get them all done before I start anything new and I have some things I really want to start so I'm really motivated to finish other projects. After the current WIPs are done, I'm determined to only have ONE project going at a time going forward.

cakediva it came out gorgeous. They will love their boatwarming gift. I love that yarn too disneypal. Just the tiniest little speckles of color. I'm working on a scarf while on vacation. I'm knitting it. I've never done this before. I got it cast on and knit one row. I feel like I don't have enough hands. I'm unsure you can teach old dogs new tricks.

jeremysgirl - you can do this. Just take it slowly at the start and it will click. I retaught myself crochet this year after 30 years of only knitting and was surprised how quickly my hands relearned the movements

jeremysgirl I’m sure you can do it! I taught myself to crochet in my late 50s, having knitted since I was 8, similar to sueg. Casting on and the first row or two are possibly the hardest part. Get past them and hopefully you’ll find it easier.

I taught myself to crochet when I was 9 and tried to teach myself to knit at the same time and couldn't get the hang of it. I tried teaching myself to knit about 12 years ago and although it was still a little challenging and I was really slow at first, I eventually got the hang of it. You are so used to using just 1 tool for crochet and it takes a bit to get use to using 2 tools in knitting, but you get it, just take it slow at first.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. I put it away for a bit and went to the beach. I'll pull it out again after dinner. But I'm about 5 rows in and it's getting easier. Honestly I loosened up a bit. I think I was attempting to make it way too tight.

Does anyone know of a place that I can order a nice cross stitch kit (or just pattern) I am going to be having some down time and since I won't be able to go up to my sewing room I would like to get back into cross stitch (it's been about 25 years!)

Cross Stitch World - for kits as well as patterns and charts Satsuma Street on Etsy - for patterns. She has some really fun and unique patterns. My sister made Pretty Little San Francisco and Pretty Little Paris for me (I don't cross stitch) and they are so much fun. Have fun getting back into cross stitch. I've recently picked up my needlepoint again and am really enjoying it. It's been a great way to pass the time at the hospital, as well as cut down on my screen time.

Enabler alert! In case you don't follow or don't know about them - Panda Yarns is having their annual sale on October 18th!! Panda is a Canadian company - her yarn cakes are gorgeous. They are the 4 & 5 strand plied yarn, and in addition to the pages and pages of pre-arranged colourways, she also will create custom ones for you. She's a small business, just her - she hand winds each cake herself! Because you can buy her cakes in a variety of sizes - from 500 yards to 1650 yards. Her sale last year was I think 13% for Friday the 13th? Not 100% sure what the discount is this year. But she offers flat rate shipping over $100 ($10 to Canada and $15 to the US) I have two sets for projects sitting in my craft room, but am contemplating something holiday-ish for a custom, possibly with a glitter stand added. Here's her link: Panda Yarns

Our sweet friend DEX was playing around with her embroidery machine and made me a couple of hand towels for my camper. Just the perfect colors to go with it. Aren't they the cutest? Thank you, Dex!

Love all the makes! I can’t remember what I last posted so I’m gonna dump. If it’s a repeat, enjoy it again? 😂. A little bit of everything in there. Laser, vinyl, pesto, zucchini bread 🤣 Pencils for my classroom Pencils for my classroom to replace the ones that all got stolen within the first 2 weeks. Shirt for my secretary to wear for her brothers football games Shirt for my secretary to wear for her son’s soccer games. Sofia is 2 but needed her name on there too. Bamboo lid for a glass tumbler straw cup for my principals daughter. She’s a sophomore at our connected hs and wanted a cup bad. Her dad told her no so she asked the secretary. Of course she and I said heck Yes! We did vinyl with her name and a volley ball and softball to go on the glass part. He said she uses it all the time and reminds him of how much we love her. 😂 Pesto with basil from the school garden. Zucchini bread made with zucchini from the school garden. I made all of this for our end of term bbq where we had asada tacos made on the school blackstone. ❤️

He’s doing ok. He had scans the first part of August and there are no new tumors neck down and the ones in his brain are smaller or stable. His oncologist suggested going scan to scan and not doing any treatment right now but DH asked if he could do immune therapy since he is in a mostly good place with tumors. If tumors show up then we have to deal with those rather than try to be pre-emptive. His body reacts in a HUGE way to meds so hopefully immune therapy won’t take him down again. We won’t know until we try. First infusion is 9/23.
In the mean time I’ve started school and have finished one term already! We have 6 a year. I’ve also gotten all my documents in order for my Italian dual citizenship and am just trying to get a consulate appointment to file. I’ve become friends with a far removed cousin who still lives in my ancestral town. He is the last of my lineage to live there. One day I’d love to visit and meet him. Possibly even move there. Both things are VERY out of my comfort zone so we will see if they actually happen.

seaexplore I have loads of distant cousins in Italy that I only made contact with a few years ago. We went over to see ‘my’ ancestral town and met up with a couple of them, siblings in their late 80s then. Sort of out of my comfort zone too, but we had a really great time and the brother took us round the cemetery to see the family graves, the Church where my grandparents married and got us into the villa where my grandmother was born and lived which is now a school run by nuns. I doubt that would have happened without him being a local. We had a guided tour of the building with the Mother Superior/Abbess and it was fabulous. I hope you enjoy yourself if you get there. Best wishes to DH too.

Only 50 more?? Will you do them one after the other or take a break and do something else?
The bag is lovely, I’m not surprised she liked it. The residents are beautiful!
