Ok - I'm dreading it - but my goal is to get the sunflowers done for the afghans the girls have requested. My block is the sunflowers and all the colour changes/ends to sew in.
Each flower has one round of dark brown for the middle, a round of darker yellow puffs and then a round of light yellow puffs (it might be the opposite I forget). I need to do 40 for each blanket.
Any tips?
I had started with just all the brown, and had been sewing in the ends as I finished each one. Then I had some that I gave up sewing in, and thought maybe doing all that at the end of the brown would be better.
Now I'm dreading the pile LOL. But I do not want to let it defeat me - I know these will be SO pretty when they are done!

I don’t think so - the first brown row is a single ro of double crochet worked into the starting chain ring - so nowhere to crochet it in really

After a few days ‘lost’ in the DPD tracking system, the yarn I ordered for the shawl mystery KAL I signed up for arrived today and it is so pretty. BUT! While I was waiting, I saw a lot of other kits people had ordered from other yarn stores or had put together from stash, and there were a lot of variegated yarns, so I went searching and found a yarn store in Berlin that had put together kits from their own yarns and so this is now on its way to me. The first kit will still be put to good use - there is another shawl from the original designer that’s been in my queue for a while that will look great in those colors.

Only 50 more?? Will you do them one after the other or take a break and do something else? It is going to take a few months to get those blocks done. I work on them when I have time. They make a good 15 minute project! I also use them as a 'palette cleanser' after other projects. It's rare for me to just do a single project from start to finish.

That quilt is going to be so fun, though! If it's anything like crochet afghans, the more colors, the more random, the more people seem to like it.

Last night I finished the blanket I was making for my son-in-law. His birthday is October 4 so I beat my deadline by a few weeks! Now it’s time to concentrate on that wedding cross-stitch for my daughter.

scraphappy0501 I love the blue color of that blanket. It looks so warm too. I love the look of quilts. I'm enjoying very much making them. But to me, there is nothing more cozy than a crochet blanket. So when I want to cuddle up, this is what I choose.

Went through all my fat quarter boxes this week and pulled out the small bits that were not likely to get used. So last night while watching the Ole Miss game I went through a shoe box full of fabric scraps and cut them into various strip sizes (1/2" up to 2"). It took longer than I anticipated so I only got half of a scrappy strip block done. But now I have 2 shoe boxes of fabric strips and a larger variety of prints to choose from.

I’ve used up lots of my SSDK leftover yarn to make an ‘around the house only’ poncho. It was a lucky dip process hence the colours 😆. Loving everyones makes I was just thinking that I miss seeing you on the board so I had to see if you've been posting and then saw THIS! I cannot express how much I love this. I mean LOVE! Wear it in good health! You took the words right out of my mouth. Er... fingers. I was thinking exactly the same. It's beautiful and good health JoP!

I’m having a quiet at home day today, so I swatched my yarn for the MKAL I am doing that starts next week. I really like how the colours look together. The top two stripes have a pale pink mohair knit along with the main yarn. The effect is subtle, yet pretty.

Crocheters, do your hands ever forget how to hold the yarn? A number of times recently I’ve put the yarn down to move the piece of work around and when I pick the yarn up I have no clue how I’m to wrap it round my fingers! It’s most weird.

Not quite - but I know when I'm starting a new ball mid-row, and doing that leave a long tail, start the stitch, finish stitch with new ball - I always forget how to wind it on my hand so I pull from the ball as I start, not from the tail (the starting ball tail) - does that make sense? Drives me nuts lol. I've also discovered with this last project that I hold my hook weird. I've watched numerous videos (especially the Hooked on Sunshine ones) on how to do the stitches and see how others use the hook, and I start out holding like a pencil with my first finger on top of the hook. But I tend to use my thumb to do all the moving of the hook, instead of my finger on top. But hey - it gets the project done!

On the weekend, DH drove me to collect my finished item from a pottery course I did a few months back. I am pleased with how it turned out and it is something we’ll use.

I seem to be OK with my crochet when I pick it up. My hands know what to do, but for the first little while, it does feel unnatural. cakediva, look up the knife hold. It sounds like those videos she is using the pencil hold and that is not the only way to hold a crochet hook. And also, I don't think any particular hold is the wrong way, if it feels right. Now if someone could just help me figure out how to hold my knitting needles...hahaha...
