It's very motivating to have a group to craft with katiekaty - did you get your list accomplished? That's a lot of planning. Shakti - hope you are satisfied after your meeting. Good vibes! joblackford - are you finding it either financially beneficial or personally satisfying to sell this stuff personally? I ask because my Mom's house was full of things that I could have sold individually, but being 3000miles away I had to go with an estate sale, and we got pretty much $0 after paying them for their work. It was REALLY disappointing, even tho I know these items (crystal, dalton's, old mason jars, old figurines, collectible magazines, toys, tea cups etc. etc.) can be hard to unload. In batches, they're worth even less. But I know I'd have felt better if I had sold them myself. So much work. Chinagirl828 - I'm really bad at scrapping on worknights - it's mostly a weekend thing although chores get in the way. I find my brain is "mushy" at the end of a long day, and wants to shut down so I surf or play games. I think justjac has a good idea in her books, and I think I should pull out my crochet and get working on a Christmas blanket - something more beneficial for myself than a screen. Speaking of work - see ya'll later

I don't know how much scrapping I'm going to be doing in the next three days, I have to take dd to an appointment this afternoon, and don't usually plan on getting anything crafty done on the weekends (my desk is in the middle of the house where I can't hide) but I am falling behind on sketches, so I will try to squeeze some crafty time in. Yesterday, I didn't feel very crafty (I think I acquired a cold) so I took a bunch of books to all the Free Little Libraries in my area, and I took pictures so while I didn't create anything, I have the photos for a future scrapbook page

Hope everyone is having a great Friday the 13th! We have been having warm humid weather, and the lake is sparkly. Last two days it has been breezy. The leaves are starting to turn, so fall is around the corner. This will be my second fall to watch all the beautiful colors of the hardwood trees here in MN. Not missing the smoke that is happening out west.
Shakti--hoping for good news about your responsibilities at your job.
kitbop--Sometimes just getting something done with the professional is the way to go. It would have been more than impossible to try and handle the contents of a home 3000 miles away!
joblackford--I do admire you for taking on the family's obligations, and hope that you are finished soon!
breetheflea--Oh no not a cold! Maybe put headphones on and put up a do not disturb sign on your desk? Yeah for stocking Free Little Libraries!
Boat show with DH this morning, then some chores, and crafting. I have two layouts to finish up on my desk and then pick photos for #13. I also have some blog posts to write up for my JFF DT. Hopefully I will finish up my other ideas for Cardtober this weekend.

Quick check in this morning. Got my sample finished for Sunday's sketch, so that took some pressure off. Was thinking I could take on one or more of this week's sketches this morning, but after three interruptions, the creative flow dried up. Have been receiving back-to-school photos. Tuesday I hope to get some of them printed, along with some garden harvest pic's. Pulled out some of my FALL papers and extras yesterday, and now I want to scrap autumn instead of summer... Feel better soon, breetheflea. Have fun at the boat show, angel97701. Hope Friday at work isn't too stressful, Shakti, kitbop, justjac and all you other working folks. Will finally get some baking done with that zucchini today. It is all shredded and ready to be used.

kitbop - we had an estate sale for most of my mum's stuff too - there was just SO much and so little time to accomplish it all. Glad we had it when we did - it was JUST before Covid restrictions kicked off. I'm sure we could have made more money selling it all ourselves but the time and energy (and space)...wasn't worth it to us either. breetheflea - hope you're feeling better. angel97701 - envious of your fall weather - we have rain but it's still hot and humid albeit less hot than last week. Have fun at the boat show. Hopefully you're feeling better. grammadee - what are you making with zucchini? I have several bags of shredded zucchini in my freezer and I'm always looking ideas Another lock-down at school today for DD17 - they said it was due to an off-campus incident and an abundance of caution. Apparently there was a suspicious person with a gun not far from the campus. And apparently an oppossum was escorted out of the school this morning as well. Never a dull moment. I have PT this afternoon but plan to scrap this evening

grammadee - what are you making with zucchini? I have several bags of shredded zucchini in my freezer and I'm always looking ideas I have double chocolate zucchini cakes in the oven. Sometimes I just add oatmeal to half the batter and then turn that half into muffins. But this time I started an oatmeal muffin batter, then added the zucchini, cinnamon, raisins, and chopped apples, then balanced out the moisture level by adding extra oatmeal. Those muffins are awaiting the cakes to come out of the oven. All my mess is awaiting cleanup LOL.

kitbop I replied to you by PM so everyone didn't have to read my 10,000 word essay reply but in short, I think you did the best thing you could for the situation you were in. ❤️ I woke up stiff and sore so I'm debating whether to have a second cup of coffee or do a mobility workout or both. I didn't make it to my craft desk at all yesterday but I did mess around with some crochet while I watched random YT videos.

Happy weekend! I woke up to the sound of rain this morning, and it was at the point I remembered that I had hung TWO LOADS of washing out on the line yesterday, and forgot to take it off the line. Ugh. Now I will have to wash it all over again, and hang it up inside instead.
It looks like it's going to be rainy and dismal all day here today, which is as good an excuse as any to stay inside and scrap all day. My DD's partner is playing his football Grand Final today, so if it stops raining we will go and watch that. But otherwise I won't be moving from the couch - when I get out of bed, that is!

kitbop I agree with the others that the professional estate sale was probably the way to go. The amount of work would have been overwhelming for sure! linda so scary with another lockdown! And the rogue oppossum! @breetheflea what kind of books did you bring to your little free library? I like checking those out when I see one. Serena spent her first night in her new room by herself! She did well and only woke up once, but she fell back asleep before we even went to her. Tonight is night 2. It’s even more impressive because I haven’t even set up the room for her yet, it’s still set up as the guest room/home office, so she’s sleeping in there in just the pack n play. Go baby!

Good Morning! Man it's been a busy work week and all I remember is work, sleep, work lol. Not a ton of scrapping for me last week. scrappyrabbit that's happy news as a parent! Go baby go! Does anyone have scrappy plans this weekend? I'm going to try to get some time in later today. I have my sample #3 nearly finished. I'm working with Main Character Energy and it is by far my favorite line of Shimelle's. It's so easy to work with. It's going to be overcast and humid here today. I need to go get supplies so I can hunker down for the game tomorrow. There will be no leaving Sunday. The traffic will be ridiculous. And it's a good excuse to set myself up for a day of crafting and football and nothing else lol.

Double chocolate zucchini cake is the BEST!!
I would love to be hopping in to say that I was given many exciting assignments and projects yesterday afternoon, but alas, I was not. This was just an overview of all the work our group is currently undertaking. There is far more of it than I had realized, which is a good thing. I do think I will be able to keep myself busy, once I start getting invited to the project meetings and the like. In my the start-up role I had for two years, I was known as being very careful and deliberate, perhaps moving a bit too slowly. If I were a tortoise to that corporate hare, I am clearly now a jackrabbit to this company's slowpoke tortoise. I think I will have gained management's confidence enough to be able to author one of the two Q4 25 FDA submissions. If not, hopefully the job market will have perked up by then....
I am done with my second dozen fall exchange cards! Trying to decide if I should charge ahead with something else in the craft room or pivot to adulting a little early. Maybe tidy up the bee stuff and pick a project for tomorrow morning. I will say that I'm a little surprised by something. I got the SSS bee stamp (& die) set from one of last fall's card kits and also Club Scrap's bee-themed stamp set. I tend to be highly annoyed by CS's lack of dies, but in this case, their realistic bees won out over Simon's stylized/somewhat cartoonish ones. Wondering now whether I should keep both or not....
Hope everyone's having a wonderful weekend!

It is the weekend! Yeah!
joyfulnana --hunker down it is for scrapping and football sounds like a good plan.
At all our working ladies, hope you have some time to yourself to be creative this weekend.
The boat show yesterday turned out to be the International Antique and Classic Boat Society show with 183 boats from all over North America. It was fascinating! We sat with some exhibitors and learned more about the ACBS group. It was called Woods and Water II. Now DH wants a wooden classic boat
Still dealing with some difficulties with tummy (may be medication related) and had my right arm develop a weird super sore muscle below the shoulder. Hard to sleep but is feeling better today. So weird as I didn't do anything funky! Nerve pain for something? I don't know. Muggy here again today. Now that I have my chores for the morning done I am going to work on #12, #13, and #14. This is the first Sketchtember I have EVER even stayed close to having all of the sketches done. I think I will pick photos for #14 next. Then finish up #12's journaling and embellishments. I've picked the photos and papers for #13. So not trying to finish one before I start thinking about the next. That seems to be working for me this go around!
Shakti Well at least you have the lay of the land for your job scope. Enjoy your crafting! Oh, I'm one that likes more realistic than cartoons in most cases. But can you use both in the future?

I used one of the SSS sentiments on a card in the Altenew March Mindfulness retreat (because the mindful sentiment set they sent SUCKED!). Other than that, I've not used it for a year. There's a layered sunflower image I like quite a lot. I suppose that I am not out of storage space yet, so there's nothing wrong with filing back in the bin and seeing what happens.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!
scrappyrabbit - Wow, your baby does rock!
breetheflea and angel97701- I hope you both are feeling better.
Just got back from our neighborhood's 1st arts and crafts day. A neighbor coordinated this event and several blocks of homes participated. It was a range of things: arts and crafts for sale, activities and crafts for children to do, garage sales, entertainment, and a lemonade stand. It was a fun way to meet neighbors both new and old. People who had moved out of the neighborhood also stopped by for the event. I'm hoping that if it's considered a success, it will be held again next year.
I hope to do some crafting this weekend.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement on moving baby to her own room! Last night wasn’t as successful, but all things considering, it wasn’t too bad! Even though she only woke up once, I had bad insomnia so I still didn’t get much sleep. Ah well, you win some you lose some. Today is her first birthday party with family. No scrappy plans for me.

I got my work done this morning and rewarded myself with reading some of my book about the terrible Fort McMurray wildfire in Alberta (the book is called Fire Weather and is extremely readable). I also got rewarded while I was working by someone buying one of the bigger Hummels for a decent sum, and she was a repeat buyer too! Now I can relax all afternoon.

Sorry scrappyrabbit - Happy Birthday to babyrabbit - sounds like the transition to the new room is going relatively well. Has she started daycare? How is she enjoying that? How are you handling it? I'm dealing with some paperwork stuff now - updating the calender (paper and iphone), downloading and labelling photos, and I should label and sort the prints that came in the post but I need to double check I have page protectors first.

Good Sunday morning! Rained again overnight but the sun is shining this morning, so I am taking that as a sign this will be a great day! scrappyrabbit , I hope your baby bunny had a wonderful birthday celebration, and that she soon becomes used to her new room. Funny that she was snoozing away but YOU were wide awake. Used to happen to me all the time!
joblackford my mind is trying to reconcile rewarding yourself by reading about a disaster LOL. Congrats on the satisfying sale!
Glad you had a good day at the arts & crafts event, medennis4. The Vintage Barnyard Market event we went to yesterday mainly had antique knick knacks, but a few crafters were there. It was sunny, not too hot, a great day to wander around and look at the different booths. How is everyone doing with the sketches now that half of them have dropped in? The first week I managed to use all the sketches. The second week, I barely managed to finish my own sample, but have the other six printed so I can play with them later. Dgs is here until suppertime today. He and I will be harvesting pumpkins ahead of promised freezing temps this next week, so I am hoping to get some pic's of that to scrap. Otherwise not alot of scrappy activity here today...

I did get all 266 DC photos labelled and sorted by day yesterday but need to sort into page protectors by layout and pull out any DC specific embellishments so I remember to use them (or at least consider them). I do have the other sketches printed except for today's

Humid and breezy today. Glad for the breeze and it is fun to watch the lake. The eagles are soaring today.
I'm in the process on the last three sketches. I hit a roadblock on a title--trying to be clever and think I will go with the obvious. Sketch 13 is laid out waiting for a few more additions including aforementioned title. Sketch 14 has photos and paper mostly picked out. Sketch 15 has me energized. Might do it before? I needed to do some research on my subject and found it right away. More later when I post the layout on grammadee's sketch #15 thread.
DH is watching his recording of F1, waiting to see who wins--I wouldn't let him cheat and look before we went to church. I bought him F1 TV about 2 years ago for Father's Day, and now it auto-renews. Great investment! I watch sometimes, and have my favorite drivers.
Back later!

I'm patiently waiting for the game start, and I started wondering...
How many sizes/formats of album have you tried and which is your favorite?
I started with 8.5x11. Swore to never leave it, then did. For 12x12. I've done an 8x8x and 6x8 album. 12x12 will always be my favorite and my comfort zone. I struggle with pockets even though I love the look of it.

breetheflea - sorry you're still under the weather - hope you're all better soon angel97701 - sounds like you're very organised with the sketches joyfulnana - started with 8.5x11 and still use that primarily. I did my wedding album in 9x9 and the kids' Boy Scout/Girl Scout albums are all 8x8. I think I used 9x9 for a DD and my pregnancy album with DD17 but that might have been 8x8, I would have to look. I've done a few 4x6 and 6x6 gift albums but not for a long time. Had to go out and buy page protectors so now it's time to organise the DC photos by layout. DD17 helped me decorate for fall/Halloween this afternoon - I need to snap a couple of photos.

How many sizes/formats of album have you tried and which is your favorite? I started using random sized sketchbooks and then did a bunch of 12x12 post bound albums in the early 2000s. Never used a 12x12 binder though - too humongous for me. I've done a couple of years of PL and holiday albums in 6x8 pocket pages with a few full page spreads. I tried 8.5x11 for PL pocket pages and for digital/hybrid layouts one year after that but didn't much like it. I stopped making layouts and switched to TNs and memory planners. For the past 15ish years I've been making 7x7" photo books which are quite good except that the square format can be limiting in that size. Works really well for my year in review softcover albums that I give as gifts. I enjoy 5x8" "trade" books (blurb) for my holiday projects now. I have 5 of them and they are probably my favorite size now. A bit bigger than a TN, but not as big as a Storyline chapters notebook, or other similar journals I tried (about metric A5 size?). Roughly the size of a letter sized sheet folded in half seems to be my sweet spot for making and enjoying looking at albums

joyfulnana - For SB sizes, I started with 12x12. I've done 8x8 for recipe swaps, and 8x10 for my DD sports teams when she was in high school. Now I'm back to scrapping with the 12x12 size.
joblackford - Glad that you got a good price for another one of your Hummel's.
breetheflea - I hope you feel better and can scrap some.

How many sizes/formats of album have you tried and which is your favorite? I started out with CM abums with 8 1/2 x 11" pages. But I soon moved to 12x12" pages in D-ring binders. I love the flexibility of the ring binders, and the extra space on the larger pages. Have been known to add flip outs to add even more real estate LOL. I have done a few Sn@p albums with 6x8" pages for specific travel albums and one purpose albums (gratitude book, Ali Edwards & LOAD challenges) and I have had fun with them, but for my regular pages I always go back to the 12x12.

How is everyone doing with the sketches now that half of them have dropped in? I've done 5 of them so far. Given I was away for the first few days of Sept, and hemming my sister's wedding dress has been the priority this month, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at. The adjustments to her dress are nearly done so I hope to have more time for scrapping. How many sizes/formats of album have you tried and which is your favorite? I've done 4x6, 6x8, 8x8, 8.5x11, A4, and 12x12. I like the space in a 12x12 especially since I scrap a lot of holiday (vacation) photos. I love 6x8 for Dec Daily, that's definitely my sweet spot. I have a 9x12 velvet album from sb.com, and a 3x8 album from Ali Edwards to try out but don't yet have a project to put in either of them.

Great question joyfulnana! I've done most from 4x4 mini album up to 12x12. I've settled on 12x12, but love the pocket page additions and smaller (6x12, 8x12 and 9x12) options that can be slid into my album. It's really sped up my story telling. I really hope someone starts making 6x12 protectors again, but think I might cut some of my 12x12's down and seal the edge to make my own?
