Welcome to Q-4, TEAMS: Paper Players: angel97701 (team leader) Shakti , Linda , AussieMeg , gramma, breetheflea , **GypsyGirl** , gingerjenny , katiekaty , scrappinwithoutpeas , boymom5 , scrappyrabbit , and Glue Crew: joyfulnana (team LEADER), grammadee , Ryann , joblackford , natscraps , Chinagirl828 , beachy christinec68 , teacherlisa , kitbop , justjac , medennis4 !
Welcome to September, team members! All quarter long we can come to this thread to chat, get to know each other, share the highs and lows of this busy season ahead. Yes, we are competing against each other, but really this is all just for fun, so we should all be able to have a god time while we do that.
And don't forget that if you pop in here at least once in a day, that counts as a point for your team. Keep it going several days in a row, and you can earn a bonus! All the details are under Chatty Cathy in the challenge list.
So drop in for a quick check-in or a longer visit as many days as you can. The team leaders plan to drop in a Question of the Week each Sunday throughout the quarter, but I volunteered to drop the first one in. Feel free to answer the question or not. Let's just get to know each other!
QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise?
This week we get to register for our LSS's fall crop in October. justjac and I and a few other friends get a table together and have a great time, scrapping, card making, sharing supplies and tools and stories. My name was drawn last spring to be Scrap Queen, which means, essentially, that my crop fee will be paid for me. So I can choose to save a little money... or... spend that crop fee on scrappy goodies at the crop! So what are YOU looking forward to?

Thank you for setting up the quarter 4 chat thread grammadee. I really did enjoy the single thread last quarter so I'm glad it was a success and is continuing. How exciting about the crop - I foresee you buying extra supplies with that savings QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise? I'm looking forward to taking loads of photos on my trip to England and Scotland in October Scrappy-wise - Just trying to fit in some scrappy time this month

Good morning! Love the new thread smell!
I think I'm most looking forward to not having any scheduled events -- no homework marathons, no pressure, no boxes of products I didn't choose for myself. It'll be me and my own big ideas and chances to play with all the things I did choose.
I'm pretty sure there will also be some moments of wondering why I chose some of them -- I've already run into a few where I remember watching the video of a technique and thinking I needed to acquire a product like this in order to try that...and no longer thinking either technique or product is all that.
I guess that means I foresee some more destashing in my future, too.

Happy to be able to get back to scrapping, cardmaking, sewing and crafting as life is settling back in a more normal state. Yes, there are more doctors appointments, simple surgical procedures, steroid injections, therapy etc. , but all extremely manageable!
Newest issue is CATARACTS! Lordy, I must be getting old, but the inner girl inside is definitely protesting that cataracts are for old people not for 29 years wit a bare 37 years experience 😉! Yes, they run early in my family, but the ply I I probably won’t need glasses after!
Good news on the granddaughter, Maddy is healing well and has received the ok to return to school after Labor Day as long as she masks. She is home schooled but has classes through the school system on Wednesday each week for tutoring, art, chemistry and trigonometry, life skills. It’s so hard to believe she is a junior this year when she was just a baby not so long ago! I would like to thank all the peas who sent cards and little gifties to her as they really helped when she could nothing but be in the hospital or stay at the RHHouse. Everyone here is so amazing! I do have plans to have a long Christmas break visiting with my daughter and Maddy and her brother around Halloween and again at Christmas! we will have a lot to celebrate!
QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise?
I am looking forward to getting back to socializing with other crafters as the group I use to craft/scrap with slowly fell apart. I have a one day crop weekend after next, and again in October, and a three day crop in November. I have ready been printing photos , gathering supplies and planning layouts and cards for these crops!

Wahoo! Welcome all Paper Players! (and Glue Crew too!) Yes the new thread smell on this glorious summer day--leaves are still green, so not autumn yet although there are ACORNS everywhere!
QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise? First off--to actually play along with Sketchtember. Second--finish prep for Cardtober. Third--my Mom is flying out to Fargo on Nov 7th, and I am driving over for a week long crop. Longest crop for me ever, and I need to start planning now. I imagine some of the sketches will be used for this crop. Then Mom is coming here for my birthday before I take her to the cities to see my niece and she flys home from MSP.
So yesterday I got up and was already to leave for a sailboat race thaaaaaat was cancelled. So I did a chore and spent the morning (and some of afternoon too) in my craft room. Can we say happy girl?
Well teamies: Shakti , Linda , AussieMeg , gramma , breetheflea, **GypsyGirl**, gingerjenny , katiekaty , scrappinwithoutpeas , boymom5 , scrappyrabbit Are we ready to play with our paper?

Wow. I haven’t been on a team for at least a couple years. QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise? I’m most looking forward to my in person crop with grammadee and friends in October. I’m hosting a day in Sketchtember and Cardtober so I’ll work on those. I’m also making a Sheetload of cards, an afghan, and a quilt, so I’m hoping to have a very crafty autumn.

welcome back to the challenge teams justjacI finally finished labelling the digital photos for the 2012 DC trip. And I've made a rough plan of what layouts I want to do. Next up is choosing photos to print for those layouts and finally placing a print order. Hoping to get that finished up in the next couple of days.

This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise? I'm looking forward to a season (at least) of working on my Florida-trip album! I thought I had over-purchased supplies to use in this album, but now, looking at the photos, I might have to shop more. Yay! justjac - welcome back! I love the challenge teams for the community and wish more peas would join us. There is NO PRESSURE to make points for your team IMO. Its just about encouragement. Linda - I cannot wait to hear about your England adventures! I'm so jealous that you are still anticipating your trip, but mine is over. My goal is to work on and print my England photos this quarter, but we'll see if I get that done considering the immense volume of Florida photos I have to work thru. katiekaty - can you tell me more about your name? My daughter is Katie - why is your @ symbol 2 different spellings? It's my favourite name. Obviously I have met many people whose lives have changed with cataract surgery - for the better - and hope yours goes as well! angel97701 - Fargo sounds like an amazing crop - stay away from woodchippers tho It's so nice that your Mama is coming for your BD! I'm reading that you were secretly glad that the race got cancelled...

I'm looking forward to a season (at least) of working on my Florida-trip album! I thought I had over-purchased supplies to use in this album, but now, looking at the photos, I might have to shop more. Yay! I just ordered 266 photos for a 4-day trip - they should be here in the next 10 days or so but I don't know if I'll get much accomplished on them until later in the year. I'm hoping to be able to use the supplies I bought back when DD and DH went on the trip and not shop more but we'll see. I'm looking forward to seeing your Florida pages. I cannot wait to hear about your England adventures! I'm so jealous that you are still anticipating your trip, but mine is over. My goal is to work on and print my England photos this quarter, but we'll see if I get that done considering the immense volume of Florida photos I have to work thru. I think we're finally at the point where I AM anticipating the trip rather than worrying about whether I would actually get to go. It'll be 2 weeks - we'll be in Didcot for several days seeing family, visiting the Railway Museum, seeing some family history spots, and taking a day trip to Bath. Then we'll take the train to Aberdeen, see the Gordon Highlanders Museum (Dad served with them during WW2/D-Day, and then head to Oban and take the ferry over to Mull (where my Dad's family is from). Then we'll go back to Didcot for a few more days including a day trip to Warwickshire Castle and another to Portsmouth for the D-Day musuem. Our last couple of days will be in London. I got my scrapbook table cleaned up today and I'm hoping to scrap a page or two tonight

Wow, September already!
QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise?
WEEKEND RETREAT in October. I’ve had some ongoing medical issues since the beginning of 2023 and this is the first crop I’ve been able to attend since 2022. I can not wait to see my friends - it’s been so long and I miss everyone like crazy. 🥹🥹🥹
After that is the Vicki Boutin Bold and Bright workshop. The prep class is on Wednesday and the main workshops are the weekend of 9/20 and then there’s a bonus class in October.

Hey teams! Thanks for starting the thread grammadee . Welcome new players! It's all for fun, so I hope you have fun. QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise? I'm looking forward to doing as many Sketchtember sketches as possible and finishing the childhood album I've been slowing working on. I want to finish that before the end of the year. I am also looking forward to the photos and layouts you're going to make from your trip to the UK Linda . How exciting to go back "home"! don't forget to set some challenges, set ones you want to meet yourself!

QOTW #1- This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise?
I'm looking forward to attending a day-long stamping/cardmaking event in October. I have not gone to any in-person crafting get-togethers since before the pandemic. I've been solo crafting for so long, so I'm excited to go to the October event. My sister-in-law will be going, too so it will be a fun day.
I'm currently working on my DD Girl Scout album though I'm easily distracted. I'm not sure if I'll try to work on a couple of scrapbook pages for that album, OR work on ordering some photos from several other trips/events because of the sales this weekend.

Hey everyone, I’m happy to be joining in again for another round of challenges! I enjoyed playing along in Q3 and it got me scrapping again. grammadee - how fun that your name was chosen as Scrap Queen! I think I’d be doing some shopping! Linda - exciting that your trip to England and Scotland is getting closer! My mom is from England and we last went in 2022. We went to Warwick Castle on that trip and Bath is one of my favourite places. I would love to visit Scotland one day. angel97701 - a week long crop sounds amazing! Does your mom scrap too? How nice that she is coming for your birthday. So many of you will be attending crops and retreats. I’ve never been to a crop and don’t know anyone else who scrapbooks anymore. My SIL used to scrap with me a bit back in the early 2000s but she gave it up many years ago and gave all her supplies to me. QOTW #1: This is such a busy season coming up: what are you MOST looking forward to, craftwise?I’m most looking forward to participating in SKETCHtember this month and also scrapping some more current photos. I’m going to order a bunch from 2024 and start switching back and forth between this year and an older year. And I’m looking forward to finishing up a crochet blanket I’ve been working on all year.

Good morning, and Happy Labor Day to the US peas. Yesterday we had a Patriot boat parade on the lake that started just around the corner from our house. Next year we will have to participate. A dock installation barge lead the way with a HUGE flag followed by at least 150 if not 200 boats. We went down to the water and sat on the dock.
Seems that many of us are getting back to some in-person crops. They are so much fun, and the comradery is special. It's the modern day version of a quilting bee.
katiekaty Hope that all the medical issues are resolved and the cataract surgery goes well. justjac So happy to see you, and you have many projects to work on! Linda Not only tons of photos but a huge photo/scrap-worthy event coming up with your trip. kitbop I've not seen the movie--so I had to look up the wood chipper reference, LOL. Nope not hanging with bad guys, nor planning on being out in the woods much! How is your new craft space working out? I'm still trying to remember where I put everything. After being in the same space for almost 20 years and having most of it labelled . . . still finding stuff from the move! grammadee You deserve the Scrap Queen title Have a ton of fun. joyfulnana I have a childhood album to go back and finish at some point too . . . so many photos, what to scrap next. beachy My Mom scraps too, and we had a tradition back in the heyday of conventions to go to convention in PDX and scrap at the crops (until they become too party like) and scrap in our room. My sister also joined us. It was our yearly event together in the spring. ComplicatedLady Welcome, hope you check in so we can encourage you to join all the fun!
Fixing another water leak, not as drastic--hose on the washer. But new hoses didn't fix it, now off for more parts and groceries.
Hope to play with paper this afternoon. AQI is high today, so will stay indoors. I think Canada is sharing their smoke with us again.

Oh no, angel97701. Guess glitches like this are "to be expected" with buying an older home. But enough, already! Happy Labour Day! Not that a holiday affects my time much out here on the farm. But what it DOES do is shut down offices and stores so I don't have to contact anyone or take their messages. I actually played with paper this morning. Cobbled together a two-pager and started on a take on today's SKETCHtember sketch. Hoping to do finishing touches and get things posted by tomorrow. Check out the sketches HERE

I just remembered that bookmarking the thread helps me check in regularly! I was wondering why it wasn't showing in my notifications... I am looking forward to... getting back to making lots of cards! Sepcifically figuring out a balance between getting all the things done and sitting down to craft. I need to sit down with patterned paper and die cuts again. Stamping and designing cards without a paper collection takes a lot more energy and isn't as motivating - the stacks of scraps and cute die cuts beg me to come tidy them up by gluing them to cards! So I've given myself a reminder to do what comes easiest while I'm putting more effort onto my big One Big Win/Hummel-re-homing project. Good news though - I have found a way to work ahead on listings even before I get the rest of the figurines home. Other good news - I relearned how to make a granny square with some oddments of yarn so I'm halfway to the skills I need to do my next big Xmas blanket project

The kids went back to school last week, so I have time during the day to work on craft projects without needing to share my computer, answer random questions, stop to go look for someone else's missing item.

I haven't been back since 1990 when we went to visit my dad's grave once the stone was installed (he died in 1989). I'm sure the fact my oldest was born in 1991 had nothing to do with my inability to travel internationally, lol. Fixing another water leak, not as drastic--hose on the washer. But new hoses didn't fix it, now off for more parts and groceries. Oh no - sorry to hear that I've been scrapping most of the day. One more layout and I'll have the first 2 weeks of August finished. DH picked up the photos for the rest of August today so I'll need to get those sorted now.

Quick reminder: please remember to add your challenges to the list this week. And don't forget to check out SKETCHtember challenges. The first three have dropped in. Have fun! I have the first two challenges met; just need to photograph #2 and post. Hoping to work on the next two sketches tomorrow. Cobbled together some quick bd cards this morning. Will pop them in the mail when I am in town for 10% Tuesday today.
