Just popping in quickly. No scrappy time today and probably not much the rest of the month. DH is home from his business trip and DS will be taking the overnight train - we'll pick him up in the morning. So focusing on making memories. I did get my Echo Park Christmas mystery box today. I'll try and put the pic in spoilers

Wow, there is a lot to catch up on with everyone! It seems like I've been gone forever--but I've been crafty as you know during a lot of it! Linda what a fun mystery box. Enjoy your family time! gramma Yup that would be the secret, leave someone in the car! Hope you have a great time shopping joblackford Enjoy your new skinny tree! With my much smaller footprint I might have to investigate such an option. No more room for my 2 big trees that I had in my Oregon home ( a little sad, but won't miss the chore of setting up and taking down) Shakti , I hope that work goes better! jokeysmurf ! When do you start work as a sub? Crafting soon? beachy Wow, organizing--I need to some of the same!
Now is the time for me to work going through all the junk mail, catching up on home chores, unpacking my craft stuff, journaling all the pages that were scrapped and titled, and start planning the packing for the cruise. I also need to get my "cruisin' ducks" ready and do alterations on a formal dress. I'm going to try and sew a bra into the dress and slip stitch the front to be more modest. I can currently put my hands in the pockets and possibly accidentally flash the front open as it is a front cross over dress. Hemming is still and issue too.
I drove home today in time for my once-over all skin check by the dermatologist. All the fun little growths and things that come with maturity. But the mild soreness on my lower left lip was the most concerning. It was "pre-cancerous" and the dermatologist gave me 3 options 1) do nothing only 20% typically change to cancer 2) use cream for two weeks that are chemotherapy 3) use Nitrogen to freeze it off. I went with option 3 and she went for it before moving on with the rest of the exam!!!! I guess she doesn't want patients to think about once you make the decision. So now I have a huge left lower lip that is red and angry. It will be healed (mostly she said) by Dec 4th when we leave. I stopped her to ask!
Oh and for those who were thinking and praying for my DN in Alaska--her numbers are much better on Rx and she was able to go back to work for the time being.
Hugs to everyone!

Very nice mystery box Linda. I'm so thrilled DS is home for Thanksgiving, enjoy the time with everyone home! I have no idea when we will have dinner yet, there are so many schedules to work around. I mentioned in another thread that I'm considering moving my Thanksgiving to October and celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving day instead. It would be great to have more breathing room between those big holidays. breetheflea I'm with you on hating interviews zoom and in person lol. Very introverted here too. joblackford have fun setting up a new tree. I broke down and bought a bigger pre-lit tree last year to replace my tiny table top tree and I'm glad I did. So glad to hear you got good news on DN! Fingers crossed for your lip. I've been working on PL lately. This is my first year doing doing physical PL and the jury is still out on next year, I don't do DD but man do I get FOMO when everyone is posting about it lol. And I still get Shimelle's prompts which don't help. Didn't she say it would be new prompts this year or am I dreaming that up? I hope everyone is having a good week!

I'm still waiting for one of my references to fill out the email the school district sent last Friday. They the references before they will move on to the background check. I'll know that's is in progress because I have to pay for it before it starts. Since it's only been five days since the interview, I'm trying to be patient...

We just bought a new skinny Christmas tree. My hubby seemed quite excited about it so I figured it would be a nice little treat. When we got home he said this one should last until we're 70! We had the previous one for over 20 years so he might be right. You know we need photos of your tree

breetheflea oh yes school districts are notoriously slow due to background checks. But honestly we do want these checks for everyone who works with our kids! I’m actually surprised you don’t already have one because you volunteer as a field trip chaperone. But then again I paid for my background check to get my teaching license way back when. Kept my license current so didn’t have to repeat the check. BUT every two years the same district I subbed in would do the school volunteer background check. Go figure— they would pay me to be alone with kids in a classroom but not let me volunteer with teacher supervision? One year I slipped through and it was the day of a FT for DS. Since I had volunteered for 5 previous years AND was a sub in the district the principal made an executive decision and allowed me to volunteer. 😊 Do you also have to do a UA? Anytime a job offer was extended (in Oregon) a UA had to be completed within 24 hours for teachers. Didn’t know about other staff. A pain for sure but again it is about keeping our schools safe.

But there were so many Black Friday emails and texts, I assumed it was this weekend! I keep getting confused too. Retailers are freaking out because by the time the weekend is over there will only be 20-odd shopping days left before Christmas 😱! I've been seeing Black Friday sales since October. It's becoming meaningless. I think this year the 4th Friday in November is the latest it can possibly be, on the 28th. Last year it was the 23rd, next year the 27th.
