shopping trips done and plans being made for your trip I suppose. Good luck with getting ready and squeezing some crafty time in I think all the shopping is done except for groceries. Currently working on deepcleaning the house before DD24 arrives a week Monday. I still need to make some birthday cards (and an anniversary card) this week and then next week I'll get the packing done. I don't actually have any trip planing to do - my younger sister is organising the whole thing (it'll be the 2 of us plus our dhs) - I just have to pay our way and show up. Spent yesterday being mostly crafty. It feels really nice and fun. So energizing! awesome! my crafty time is pretty much in the evenings atm but I'm trying to fit it in most evenings

I've organized a couple of family trips - it's like herding cats. My SIL (one of the aforementioned cats) lamented about organizing another trip (that hubby and I skipped) and all I could do was laugh and agree.

QOTW: What paper company did you love that no longer produces paper OR was bought out and changed significantly the you REALLY miss? AND do you still own some of the collections? I was on a long hiatus from scrapping during the Basic Grey OA years, so I don't have any of those papers to miss. But like you grammadee my first thought was Fancy Pants. I miss the old Fancy Pants. And I miss the early MME lines. As a piggy back on that question, who is your favorite now? I would have to say Shimelle's new lines are my favorite right now, nothing else has been catching my eye lately. My last sample is finally taking shape. I'll be glad to finish it so I can start on the other sketches I want to use!

As a piggy back on that question, who is your favorite now? I'm really liking the Scrapbook Generations collections but other than that? I'm not sure I have a favourite per se - I don't really shop by brand so much as to fill gaps (theme or colour in my stash or if I love a particular paper

I had a scrappy day yesterday and got three more sketches finished. I've now done 10 or 11 of them, and have another one on my desk that is partially complete. Given I was still travelling at the start of the month, then working on sewing projects, I'm really happy with where I'm at. QOTW: What paper company did you love that no longer produces paper OR was bought out and changed significantly the you REALLY miss? AND do you still own some of the collections? Another vote for BG. I still use them regularly, three of the layouts I've finished for Sketchtember so far have used my BG stash. ETA: and Felicity Jane. They may so many gorgeous collections and I'm still hoarding a lot of them, and they did really great bascis that I use on most of my pages.

As a piggy back on that question, who is your favorite now? Cocoa Vanilla for sure, they're the only company I get really excited for new releases from. I received my pre-order of the new Bloom & Grow and the Christmas lines last week and have already used some of the Christmas embellishments on a page, the others are sitting on my desk waiting for the right sketch/photos to be used.

Good Monday morning. Responding to joyfulnana's piggyback question: I have two favourite manufacturers right now: Cocoa Vanilla and 49 & Market. I also love Vicki Boutin's AC lines. I think this is because I love the watercolour look, but have neither the skill nor the patience to create the looks I want, and what better than to have these people do that FOR me?

My favorite manufacturer at the moment are Simple Stories although I don't like the gross mustard yellow shade they keep using..
You wouldn't notice it in the pages I've been posting but there's a Heidi Swapp line I've been collecting one piece at a time because it keeps coming up every time I search for stuff. Beach: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. Boats: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. Navy (the color) paper: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. Vacation: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. Fishing: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. Sand: Heidi Swapp Set Sail. I should probably just order the entire paper pad and stop putting one sheet at a time into my online orders...

Today was piddly chore day. Take stuff to the Post Office to get tracking numbers, go to the bank to deposit a government check b/c you cannot do it online. Laundry, water plants, take care of animals, and so on. Time in the craft room and worked on #23. To answer joyfulnana's question: For boy stuff I like Echo Park. For the travel pages it has been Quick Quotes, and Smart Craft, Carta Bella, and Echo Park. For patriotic (all 4 museums of Pearl Harbor photos) it's been Carta Bella, Echo Park and PhotoPlay.

Today I worked on my sketch for Wednesday, painted the stupid shed for an hour (almost done with the second coat) and happened to mention I hate our gross old den carpet (the last carpet in the house) so now DH won't stop making me look at floor samples... The shed is almost done so he is itching to start new project. I don't want to rip out the den floor because that means I'd have to move my scrapbook desk and all of my supplies, among other things. I also took DS (11) for his yearly well-check appointment and the poor kid got three immunizations and a flu shot, so we went to 7-11 and got a Slurpie afterwards

Today I got some more Hummels sent off to Colorado, Florida, and Virginia, and sent some vintage APS film to a camera shop guy. Do you remember the film from the 90s that could do panoramas or a couple of other formats and rewound halfway through the roll? They don’t make it any more, and we found a few undeveloped rolls in MIL’s piles, got about $20 for it! I gave away some purses and sent some RAKs to Peas and then ! finally ! sat down to play with a Paper Rose collection. Still TBD whether I love it or not…

Good morning. I managed to get a LO done yesterday. Started out thinking I would put together a page kit with the sketch, some photos, and some supplies, but decided why not just finish it right here right now. Kinda how I roll, anyway.
Medical appointments today. Not sure how much papercrafting I will be able to accomplish the rest of this week. Tomatoes are ripening. Dh, whose appetite has been MIA for months, was asking on Sunday when I plan to make lasagna. Carrots need digging. I prep them to keep in the fridge all winter, so several hours of work involved there. And while filling the bags with nice straight carrots, I sort out the "culls" to bake with, so some baking in my future I think. But not today. Need to shower and get ready to head out soon.

breetheflea Yes I hear you on the "stupid shed". My DH wants to take at the carpet in the basement--I'm not really in favor. But not because I have to move my craft stuff. BTDT! joblackford Yeah for more of the Hummels leaving! You are on a roll with the destash! grammadee thinking of you for your medical stuff. Yes--digging carrots and prepping them for winter does take work! No garden for me here in MN like I had in Oregon. Appointments for me this morning and then grocery shopping on the way back home. Try to tag that onto other driving. DH went the road construction direction and got stuck, then was late to his PT appointment. Called early enough to warn me to go around the top of the lake. Printing photos for Sketchtember #24, and #23 is sitting on my desk ready to be stuck down and journaled. Yeah me!

I'm playing with the Animal Kingdom collection by Paper Rose at the moment. The papers are lovely but they're all pretty stand-alone designs, they don't really mix and match with each other. I can just make simple cards with single papers, but I'm going to see if some faux alcohol ink papers I have will coordinate. They need to be used anyway and they have a similar coated paper sheen.
Besides that I made a bunch of stamped thank you notecards to include with my eBay packages. Easy crafting but not too boring.

Ack! I've hit a wall--that is I am coveting papers that are more themed for Mexico . . . so a Scrapbook.com order has been placed. Now to find photos for layouts that don't need those papers to complete sketches. Yikes, I was being so good and using what I had. Frustrated with non 12 x 12 paper!

Hello scrappy friends! Popping in to say hi. I’ve been following sketchtember from a distance but I’m just so busy right now so I can’t play along yet. I apologize profusely to my team members! I’ll start with the bad news. My husband, parents-in-law, and I got salmonella from a local restaurant. It’s a huge news story around here, because this restaurant infected probably over 100 people and was serving salmonella for at least 3 nights. It’s been well over a week now and we still feel the symptoms. Not to mention the mental anguish of it. It’s been rough. My in-laws actually ended up in the ER and they were not the only ones from this restaurant there. Im just thankful the baby didn’t eat the contaminated food. On top of that, the baby started daycare! She is taking to it really well. It only took them two days to figure out how to nap her, which was my biggest concern since she is not a good napper. I think she naps better there than at home so far. They tell me she is loving outside time, and I can tell, because her pants come home covered in mud! It’s been a relief that she is liking it. It still feels so weird dropping her off and the house is oddly quiet during the day (work from home). I’m looking forward to soon getting into a good groove in the mornings and everything feeling like a normal routine at some point. Let’s see, what else. Work is busy. The baby is in her own room but I haven’t had time to actually move the furniture around so she’s in a pack n play, but she’s doing ok in there. Dare I say she is sleeping a little better than before? And her first birthday party went well! Ok I think that’s all for me for now. grammadee I am jealous of your garden. Fresh tomatoes are the best. joblackford what are you selling on eBay? beachy new job? That’s exciting. I hope it’s going well.

Good to hear from you scrappyrabbit. Busy times for your little family. I am amazed when you have time to scrap at all! And that is without being sick! Try to get as much rest as you can. Ds came back from Cuba with that and it took months before he got back to feeling like himself again. No crafting for me today. Feeling tired after a big day yesterday. Hoping an extra cup of coffee will give me the boost to get out into the carrot patch. Last time we were in the garden I saw that my dogs had been helping themselves in one spot. And my iPhone memories popped up a pic of dh pretending to bite into a just dug carrot out there five years ago yesterday. So I guess it is time...

DS, 15, missed his bus to school (he couldn't find his shoe...) so that kind of threw a wrench into my morning. I have an errand to run after I drop him off, and then it is supposed to rain so no shed or yardwork project for me today, maybe I will get to sit down and be creative. I didn't get any scrappy time yesterday because I had to do the weekly grocery shopping, outside chores, and DD had a cross country meet all afternoon/evening.

My sister has lived in FL (Daytona) since I can't remember 2006 maybe but it looks like she's on the non-hurricane side of the state this time, so she hasn't said anything about it.

It started out as soemthing to fun to add to the storm prep back (and reward them for helping) in 2004 when we had a bad hurricane season and my older two were 4 and 12 and has since become tradition. I usually bake muffins or cookies, sometimes bread and yes, it's convenient when the power goes (which it almost always does)

Thank goodness your baby bunny didn't eat any. I hope you are all starting to feel better now. What a nightmare! And you have enough going on without dealing with illness. I'm sure daycare is a huge transition but what a relief for you that she seems to be having a great time. My eBaying - an endless parade of rotten little Hummel figurines my MIL bought in the 70s-90s. We started out with 128 of them, a whole glass case (very) full, and I'm trying to get them 100% gone by Thanksgiving. My FIL is not online at all - he retired from his school admin job right around the era when he would've had to learn how to use a computer/type, and other family is mostly out of state, so I am the family's Chief Collectible and Junk Re-Homer. I've been working on the Hummels all year and the rest of the house (so many collections! so much furniture!) for five years. I'm getting close to done, one way or another.

scrappyrabbit --Yikes! Food poisoning is the worst, so sorry for everyone. Very thankful that baby bunny did not get it! Sounds like she is doing well in her transitions. It will come in time to get her room set up. Do what you can!
joblackford --I can't imagine the ongoing sense of stress of de-junking so many collections. Yes, Hummels were collectables and sounds like your DMIL had many types of collections that are worth $$$. Good for you to take this on. Hope that you are spending time playing too!
breetheflea --bummer about DS missing the bus, that is always throws a wrench into the day. Yes when DKids are involved in activities--which is a positively great thing--we take more time making memories than crafting. Hope the weather gave you some time to spend creating.
grammadee --hope all is well with you now that your medical appointment is done. Recovery after can be draining. Also know that all you do here is appreciated! You are the #ONE
Linda--I do like your hurricane treat tradition. Not sure about the cleaning BEFORE the storm.
My day was started with a preventative vet appointments for the indoor/outdoor cat and our pupster-Artemis. Both have a clean bill of health. We might want to have a dark mole in Artemis's ear removed to make sure it is not melanoma. I didn't sleep well last night and needed some down time this afternoon. Good thing I'm retired and do so when I need. At my Naturopathic appointment on the 15th I was encouraged to work through the Rx changes. I am going to give it another week then probably check in with my MD. The last 10+ years of parenting our Accumulated Childhood Trauma adopted sons has taken a physical toll. DS25 is working out of town, so we are empty nesters for the week. DS18 is still off the tracks, but I must stand back and simply pray.
DH and I are planning on putting in a back-up generator that is connected to natural gas. Our home and water are heated with natural gas. But the well, and all things electric don't work with power outages. In the little over a year we have had more outages in this home that in any where else. Winter was not harsh last year, but that is not the norm. We were out for 24 hours once, and if it were freezing that could be problematic in the winter. The contractor he talked with says that they service 3 others on our road of about 20 homes. It is set up that it automatically turns on if the power goes out. Many of the homes are second homes, only about 30% of the fancy homes on our lake are year round homes. We can tell in the winter by the tire tracks!
I got over my mojo block by spending about 1.5 hours this morning going through photos to work on Sketchtember #25. I should see if tracking on my Scrapbook.com order is showing yet. It said delivery between 9/26 (highly unlikely in this remote part of MN) and 10/02. I had picked out photos for #24 and did NOT like my paper choices . . . . yes, I am spoiled! Besides I had the magnetic Magic Mats sitting in my cart and a few other things. Thus it was easy to get to $ amount for free shipping. I must be patient!
DH and I just finishing our binge watching of Netflix "Discovery of Witches". A nice little fantasy with 25 episodes over 3 seasons. The costuming is fantastic. Story line is interesting--with a bit of biotech involved along with the fantasy. It was fun.

angel97701I clean before the storm because that way if we lose power all the dishes and clothes are clean, the house is picked up, the yard is free if any debris, batteries are charged and so on Plus this time around DD24 is coming on Monday and I don’t want to be behind on preparations because of the storm

I was thinking bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming etc. With DD24 coming that is a really good reason. During power outages I would tend towards paper plates etc! But getting the dishes done so they don't get stinky I totally get!

angel97701 I do clean bathrooms pre storm because we’re on a well so no power equals no water and to me it makes sense to start out with a nice clean bathroom vaccuming, sweeping, and mopping -just because we're all going to be stuck inside and it's nice if it's clean, ya know? Dusting? it's on my list for this weekend but...not a pre-storm activity, lol hoping to get some scrapping in today - no other plans -we're inside until the storm passes. I did notice during the last one, that DH and DD17 had a hard time entertaining themselves, esp. once we lost power, and that impacted my ability to scrap in peace

I know what you mean about family entertaining themselves... on weekends with five extra people here I don't get much scrapping done, if the power went out, they'd never leave me alone. I think the last time we lost power for a few hours, we played a board game. Luckily it was during the day so we could still see what we were doing.

When I think of storm, I think mud and dirt. Or in the case of wind storms in the desert DUST!!! Not worth dusting before if everything is going to be covered in a fine layer after. Also didn't realize you are on a well too. For those on municipal water, they don't get the no water thing at all! On a well you have bottled water, or containers that are rotated for fresh water. Hope the storm is lessening by the time it gets to you!
I think it is time you introduce DH and DD to puzzles, books, and solitaire!!! LOL But yes, when the family is stuck at home together board games are a good distraction too. During Covid we played a ton of games. Can't tell you how many rounds of Yahtzee!

Thanks breetheflea and angel97701 - storms here are rain and wind mainly and for me, personally, power outages are the biggest concern. In the wider community - flooding and trees down are a bigger problem. We do play board games and do puzzles but that still requires me to suggest it, set it up, and participate. Whereas my idea of fun during a power outage is reading (books during daylight, my kindle when it gets dark) and scrapbooking (light permitting). DH struggles with reading due to his eyesight (and won't use a kindle which WOULD help) and I'm not sure why DD (who is an avid reader) doesn't just grab a stack of books and get cozy.
