Can you imagine the nightmare of sharing the same name and attending the same high school as the shooter? While there is a slight spelling difference, I bet the non-shooter is really hating his name right about now. No I can’t I thought it was bad enough to share a name with a multiple occasion shoplifter with a slight spelling difference I can not imagine having the same name as a murderer.

Last night a mom was interviewed, she claimed a teacher came to get a student but it was the wrong one, and LE told her she was mistaken. I wonder if that was the incident? Hmmm. I’m not sure. I didn’t catch much of that interaction. I could hear a woman asking something in the background and the officer saying she was mistaken but wasn’t sure what she was referring to. Hopefully they will have more info today. It’s sad that people say “it could have been much worse” when four people did die. Yeah and it could have been much better. They all could have had a normal school day Watching this unfold at a distance via news sources is horrific I simply can not imagine how awful it is for those families or those in the community

I don't know how anyone can say the problem is access to guns. No guns in the house. No school shooting. Pretty simple.

I apologize in advance as I haven't read the entire thread yet. Have they determined where the CHILD got the gun? He’s going to be (or has been) charged with murder. Rightly so. However, I want that same charge for the ADULT who allowed the CHILD access to a gun.

Dad has guns, claims son (who was suspected of terroristic threats last year) doesn’t have “unsupervised access” to them. Clearly that was a lie. Will dad be charged? No the Dad won't be charged. According to GA law he didn't commit any crime. Guns there do not have to be secured/locked up.

Last I heard they had not confirmed where he got the gun from. While it certainly may have been his dad, it also might not have been.

Any of those against the law in Georgia?

You completely ignored everything else I wrote in both of my posts. I’m out of this convo with you. I was asking questions because I don’t know your dad, and trying to understand the difference between the situation with you versus your son. I’m sorry you took offense to what I said. I was not trying to argue.

I'd really like to see the residents of GA be fed up enough to start voting these asshole politicians out of office. You can't have almost nonexistent gun laws and be surprised when a shooting like this one happens. Offering thoughts and prayers is a bullshit response.

The only way to possibly make a change is for everybody to never vote republican for the next 30 years. But there are some on this thread that will still vote republican in 2 months, even if it's down ballot. The truth is this country will never see a change, at least in my lifetime.

I had not seen that mentioned anywhere? He told law enforcement that his son didn’t have unsupervised access to the weapons, which could have been true at the time but, if so, has changed since then. Either he has access now or his dad was “supervising” the shooting. But also what kind of parent doesn’t take a visit from the FBI as a serious come-to-Jesus moment about your kid? If anything, his son should have had LESS access since then!

To be fair, that might not have been a lie at the time. It was said 15 months ago.

Interesting I just saw on CNN this.
Father of school shooting suspect told investigators he purchased gun as holiday present for son, sources say From CNN’s Mark Morales and Ryan Young The father of Apalachee High School mass shooting suspect Colt Gray told investigators that he purchased the gun used in the killings as a holiday present for his son in December 2023, according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.
That would put the gun purchase months after authorities first contacted Gray and his family as they investigated a school shooting threat.
Colt, who was 13 during the May 2023 interview, said that “someone is accusing him of threatening to shoot up a school, stating that he would never say such a thing, even in a joking manner,” Jackson County sheriff’s investigator Daniel Miller Jr. wrote.
The teen’s father, Colin Gray, told investigators at that time he had hunting rifles in the house and said, “Colt is allowed to use them when supervised but does not have unfettered access to them,” the report said.
The Jackson County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office closed the investigation because a tip about the threat could not be substantiated.
CNN has made several attempts to reach Colin Gray by phone and in person at the family home. It is unclear if he has an attorney.

Father has been arrested!! The father of the suspected shooter who gunned down two classmates and two teachers in Georgia this week has been arrested, authorities said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations wrote on X that Collin Gray, father of the 14-year-old suspected gunman Colt Gray, faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children in connection with the shooting at Apalachee High School. The news comes after CNN reported on air Thursday that Collin Gray told investigators he bought his son an AR-15 for Christmas, the weapon later used in the mass shooting. www.rawstory.com/georgia-school-shooting-2669137649/

A perspective from the side of "you have to get over it." x.com/AP/status/1831844851567985070Noted that Apalachee HS had a security officer and it was, in fact, the security officer who took the shooter into custody. Props to him. But he couldn't prevent four people from being killed.

I'm reading the 'Parable of the Sower' at the moment and this struck me hard:
'The thing is, we hear gunfire so much that we don't hear it'.

What kind of world do we live in where a parent buys their at-risk 14-year-old an AR-15, the weapon of choice for mass shooters? Kids are dead. That guy should fry. Legislators: "Let's start a prayer circle."
