In my red area people are praising him saying that he won and she just lied the whole time. That the hosts were siding with her and not fair because they didn’t fact check her. She had the questions ahead of time. Blah blah blah. She didn’t answer questions. Sorry but he just repeated the same lies. She actually had something to say was articulate vs just getting pissy.

I’m glad she did do well and I knew that the right wouldn’t just come around but the denial is extreme. I hope sone that were undecided actually heard what she had to say. I also like that she has her views clearly on her website.

After trying to point out all of the hundreds of reasons not to vote for Trump and getting sucked in to those types of debates I have decided that if I feel the need to engage just will simply say that I don’t support rapists, felons or malignant narcissists to be in positions of power. And try to leave it at that. It seems that the very basic things that should be disqualifying him are lost in the fray.

What makes that whole ‘they’re eating the pets!’ thing so funny is that Trump doesn’t even like dogs. Or cats. Or even his own kids for that matter until they’re old enough to be useful to him.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) left many observers -- including several conservatives -- stunned on Thursday when he seemed to suggest the United States of America was not a prosperous nation.

During an appearance on CNBC, Vance made the case that America was ill-served by having immigrants come into the country to work as low-cost laborers.

"We (basically) are [the most prosperous country in the world]," observed Washington Examiner journalist Brad Polumb.

"I wouldn't attribute America's wealth solely to immigration, but which country does Vance believe is more prosperous than America?" asked Dominic Pino, a Thomas L. Rhodes Journalism Fellow at the National Review Online.

Michael Strain, an economist at the center-right American Enterprise Institute, found himself amazed that Vance seemed unaware of America's current economic condition.

"The gloom and doom from populists is so extreme that it runs head on into basic facts," he argued. "Yes, of course, we have serious problems. But America is a great nation."

And Mark Salter, a longtime friend and adviser to the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), simply responded to Vance's claims by writing, "What a dumba--."

"I won the Debate, but was criticized by the Radical Left Lunatics because I looked 'angry and forceful,'" Trump wrote. "But think, why wouldn’t I be angry? I love the U.S.A., and it is being destroyed by grossly incompetent leadership."

That was my thought as well. None of the questions should have been a surprise to either of them. But he isn’t used to be questioned or called out on his obvious lies so that was obviously cheating for calling him out. He has only been called out a few times on these things and had yet to answer them and it’s usually by a woman and then goes on about how nasty she was to him. While we thought he got away with a lot his people think he was tested horribly 😆 sorry.

The woman who appears to have inadvertently sparked a viral far-right hoax that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, are kidnapping and eating people's cats and dogs has come forward to say she regrets that her social media post caused so much confusion.

Former President Donald Trump even promoted the claim at the presidential debate on Tuesday, and had to be shut down by moderators. Meanwhile, schools in the area have had to be evacuated for bomb threats, including one that specifically mentioned the false claims.

It turns out that the rumor can be traced to one woman's Facebook post, reported NBC — and she is coming forward to apologize for all the chaos it created.

According to the report, Erika Lee, a resident of Springfield, posted to Facebook commenting on a neighbor's cat who had gone missing — and mentioned that the neighbor had been suspicious the cat might have been attacked by Haitians who lived in the neighborhood.

There was no evidence to support the claim. Moreover, cats often go missing for various reasons, especially those allowed to wander outside.

Lee said she feels bad that her post exploded into a xenophobic panic against the Haitian community, and for the confusion and fear the post caused.

“It just exploded into something I didn’t mean to happen,” she told NBC News.

Trump has not offered any apology or retraction for his claims about the Haitian migrants in Springfield.

He has even suggested that if elected, his administration will order mass deportations of the migrants from Springfield.

After bomb threats today, officials had to evacuate two elementary schools in Springfield, Ohio, and move the students to a different location. They had to close a middle school altogether. This is the second day bomb threats have closed schools and public buildings after MAGA Republicans have spread the lie that Haitian immigrants there have been eating white people's pets. Haitian immigrants, who were welcomed to Springfield by officials eager to revitalize the city and who are there legally, say they are afraid.

Hunter Walker and Josh Kovensky of Talking Points Memo today explained where the lie had come from and how it had spread. More than two months ago, they wrote, Ohio senator J.D. Vance, who is Trump’s vice presidential running mate, began to speak about Springfield at a Senate Banking Committee hearing, trying to tie rising housing prices to immigrants. The next day, at the National Conservatism conference, Vance accused “illegals” of overwhelming the city.

On August 10, about a dozen neo-Nazis of the “Blood Tribe” organization showed up in Springfield, where one of their leaders said the city had been taken over by “degenerate third worlders” and blamed the Jews for the influx of migrants. The neo-Nazis stayed and, on August 27, showed up at a meeting of the city council, where their leader threatened council members. On September 1, another white supremacist group, Patriot Front, held its own “protest to the mass influx of unassimilable Haitian migrants” in the city. Right-wing social media posters pushed the story, usually with “witnesses” to events in the city coming from elsewhere.

In late August, posting in a private Facebook group, a resident said they had heard that Haitian immigrants had butchered a neighbor’s cat for food. Vance reposted that rumor to attack Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, on whom he is trying to hang undocumented immigration although it was Trump who convinced Republicans to kill a strong bipartisan border bill this spring. Springfield police and the city manager told news outlets there was no truth to the rumors.

Nonetheless, on September 10, Vance told his people to “keep the cat memes flowing,” even though—or perhaps because—the rumors were putting people in his own state in danger.

Trump repeated the lie at the presidential debate that night, claiming, “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.” Today, President Joe Biden demanded Trump stop his attacks on Haitian-Americans, but Trump doubled down, promising to deport the Haitian immigrants in Springfield if he is elected, although they are here legally.

The widespread ridicule of Trump’s statement has obscured that this attack on Ohio’s immigrants is part of an attempt to regain control of the Senate. Convincing Ohio voters that the immigrants in their midst are subhuman could help Republicans defeat popular Democratic incumbent senator Sherrod Brown, who has held his seat since 2007. Brown and Montana’s Jon Tester, both Democrats in states that supported Trump in 2020, are key to controlling the Senate.
