Hi everyone! The dinner theatre last night was a lot of fun! My mum was being a bit cranky but she gets that way sometimes It was great spending time with my dd's! Of course I was up most of the night . This is what I posted on Facebook ... self-explanatory. I have no plans today other than to take a nap later! I wonder how Linda is doing? Dinner tonight will be something out of the freezer but I haven't decided what! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Hi, I'm cleaning my butt off and doing laundry. I have friends coming tomorrow for lunch and my housekeeper doesn't come until Tuesday. So it's on me to make the house presentable. Jeremy says he will do my outside decorations today after he mows the lawn. But it rained last night until about 7 or so this morning. So he says he's waiting for things to dry. At this point I don't believe him. I think he's just too busy watching movies.
I haven't decided what to feed my friends tomorrow.like do I do kind of a brunch with breakfast foods? Or do I present a charcuterie platter for grazing and then do something small like a special salad and homemade bread? Maybe just make like a lasagna? What do you guys think?
Tonight will be a dal tadka. That I was supposed to make last night

I hope you get some rest today, leannec! Nick and I are headed over the state line into IL to hit some thrift shops and the half price book store. We will likely have lunch. I'd like to get home early and relax. My Pair Eyewear glasses and accessories came yesterday and they are so fun. The plates just attach with lightweight magnets to change the look. I can't wait to pick out a few more. I love my Snoopy ones! If you promise not to look at the rest of me, here is a picture to share the variety. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday! We just got back from a walk at Town Center lakes. It's a gorgeous day so I snapped a photo. Where I swim is next to the other big lake. jeremysgirl , if I were coming, I would be thrilled with a breakfast themed brunch. tmarschall what fun frames! My LSU game starts at 4:55 so I'll make Chinese Chicken Salad. Sending prayers to everyone affected by this hurricane. Such destruction.

My only problem with a breakfast theme is that I have a guy who is not going to want to eat vegan. So I will have to figure out very carefully what to make.

Good morning. I'm sorry that you didn't sleep, again. When you can't sleep do you get up and watch tv, something else or do you just toss and turn?
tmarschall, I have to have the Peanuts glasses. They are totally my style. You look so cute.
jeremysgirl, how about charcuterie brunch foods? I don't know how much work you want to do, but I was thinking vegan mini muffins, fruit, bagels and lox or cream cheese. Though it's not all vegan. My suitcase is arriving today. So, I need to unpack and do laundry. Plus, I have to put away some stuff from my carry-on. Then I'm going to do a YouTube tutorial for my new camera, so that we can go photo taking on Monday. We were going to go today, but I haven't touched the new camera. Apart from that I will either puzzle, knit or start a new game. I'm a bit jet lagged. Even a small time change is a big time change for me. Dinner for dh is TJ's bbque teriyaki chicken. Easy peasy. Ods is going to pick up my groceries. He has a department party late this afternoon at a coworker's house. I bought the sodas and he's picking up my groceries. It's a win-win. Enjoy today, my lovelies.

Happy Saturday! I just got back from brunch with my mom and sister at our new favorite local place. Portions are crazy big but their mimosas are on point and the service is really good. I got my usual eggs Benedict but I've realized that I don't like the ham very much so next time I'll order without. My sister met us later and ate the rest of my ham so it didn't go to waste. Today, I think I'm going to play Epic Mickey, take a nap and do some cleaning. My sister is babysitting all of her grands tonight (5) because their parents have their 20 year high school reunion. I told her I'd help as they range in age from 8 months to 7 years. I'll be bringing wine Not sure what dinner will be because I'll probably eat with them. Hope you all have a great day!

jeremysgirl , that really sucks for both of you. When I'm having a bout of insomnia I have to admit that I get resentful at 3:15 when dh is snoring. It's not his fault that he is a great sleeper, but I get salty, anyway. Who's rational in the middle of the night?
Tearisci, I'm going to download the Epic Mickey demo and try it.

Those glasses are cute tmarschall. Do they come in progressive lenses? They can! I didn't go with them bc while I have a few, I typically just get glasses for distance and take them off for up close. I went with the cheapest lenses with ni frills bc I wasn't sure of the fit. The only issue with buying online is how they are often huge on my face. These are smaller and perfect! But you can get polarization and progressives and all the stuff you can at a brick and mortar place. And inexpensive. The base pair were only about $55, and the plates range from 20-30 I think. Lasagna is always good. Or a soup and bread combo with some snacks to graze.

Enjoy today, my lovelies. They have half a dozen or so in the Peanuts collection. I got the blue snoopy ones and the multi- all character ones, and a plaid that may have been Charlie Brown. At least 1, the green plaid is from a Harry Potter collection. I'm not into HP but I liked the green, which I am wearing today. I'm excited as we decided in addition to our usual little circuit of thrift and 2nd hand stores, we will go further north to hit the Williams Sonoma store. I will probably drop a little cash there, esp for their Snoopy baking and dinnerware stuff. Glad Monday is payday! Thank you to everyone for your support about the cookbook idea. The recipes and stories, I hope will be simple enough to invite anyone to try, mostly, but I'm also planning to tie in my other love of social work and focus on self-care using bakibg and cooking. If anyone wants to help test recipes and give feedback when the time comes, I welcome it! ❤️❤️❤️

But a loaf of homemade bread.

I was up too late playing the Epic Mickey demo. It was quite fun! But that also meant I slept until 8am, which is a never for me. It helped that DH took the dogs out and shut the door. The youngest thinks once the sun is awake and 1 iota of movement comes from my side of the bed, then we're all awake. Just a slow roll to my Saturday morning.
I have put on a pot of Ethiopian lentil stew for my lunch. DH wants a hot dog. I don't think we have any. So he'll get a leftover pork chop sandwich.
I'm thinking of a taco bowl for dinner. It's game day here all day.
I did get a load of laundry going. I also need to sweep and mop the kitchen. Sigh, and the bathrooms need their cleaning.
I really wanted to go look at a pup at Tractor Supply today. A rescue is having a "showing". After a less than warm look from the other human, I have decided against going to look at Jon Snow. He is a doll of a solid white something or other. Like a husky/shepherd mix.

Good evening all, We’ve had a fairly lazy day today. Normal Saturday stuff. We did a quick grocery shop, though we didn’t need much. DH is off to Vienna tomorrow and comes home Wednesday, then we leave for vacation Thursday, so we don’t want too much fresh food in the house. We have also made all the bookings we need - tours, museums and parking - for Venice. After lunch we drove over to where I did a pottery course a month or so back and picked up the items I made, then DH went into work to pick up a few things he needs to take with him. I’ve been knitting and watching football - our game is on now and is a bit nerve wracking; 1:1 at 60 minutes. I am on the second sleeve of a cardigan for Luci and want to get it done before we leave as I will want to start a new project that day.
Dinner tonight was a lovely beef stew and there is enough left over that I will have dinner for one night this week.

I've had DS's twin bed from back in the day in my craft room forever. It's still in great condition so I posted it on Buy Nothing along with sheets, pillow cases, dust ruffle, mattress pad, pillow sham and comforter. I hope someone wants it and can come and get it today. I'm going to put an 8' table there for crafting. It was DH's idea since we never use that bed.

Today I have a quilting lesson this afternoon. Dexter is good. I will give him some chicken soon. He is just adorable. Later today I need to go to Dad’s gf to borrow her pc because DS needs to set up the Mac for me.
Dinner tonight will probably be salmon for my dad and chicken for me.
It was late one night and I was hungry and needed something to eat. My dad had just been to Costco because we love that store. He bought some delicious looking keto cereal. It tasted great and I mixed it with sugar free yoghurt. It was delicious. I am hungry now and went to the kitchen for breakfast. Dad, the cereal is GLUTEN FREE! That’s not low carb. It has 12g of pure sugar in it. That’s a lot. He thinks he is kind of eating low carb except there are carbs in TimTams and other stuff he eats. He doesn’t have to lose weight if he doesn’t want to. He is nearly 83 and should eat what he wants. I just need to know what to make.🙄🤣😇

I'm sorry that you didn't sleep, again. When you can't sleep do you get up and watch tv, something else or do you just toss and turn? I always get up ... I either go on the laptop and drink green tea or I lay on the couch under my amazing Hush blanket and watch ASMR hair play videos to relax me ... but lately I've been watching food related videos (not ASMR) because I really like them! Jeremy has chronic insomnia. He just lays there. Staring at me while I sleep. Kind of creeps me out..😂 Hahahahaha!!!! Tell him to get up! Why waste your time laying there? Who's rational in the middle of the night? Me! I've been known to cook in the middle of the night ... build small furniture ... organize closets ... but usually I accomplish very little Lasagna is always good. Or a soup and bread combo with some snacks to graze. My vote is for lasagna and a great garlic bread ... and something yummy for dessert! I really wanted to go look at a pup at Tractor Supply today. A rescue is having a "showing". After a less than warm look from the other human, I have decided against going to look at Jon Snow. He is a doll of a solid white something or other. Like a husky/shepherd mix. Awwww!! The other human needs to get onboard! Rescue pups like husky/shepherds are so sweet!!!!

Greetings from Sydney Nova Scotia! We arrived this morning and it rained during our entire time in port. We got off the ship but just walked around town and the waterfront for a couple hours then returned to the ship. We sail in an hour and are heading to Newfoundland where we are going to zip line. Hoping for nice weather for that.
The food is great and plentiful. I’m enjoying the company of my bestie thus far. I haven’t read any posts and I know I will have some catching up to do when I get home. Until the, I hope everyone is well.

It appears dinner may be at the Mexican restaurant again tonight. My cousin is making noise about a return visit. 😆 Otherwise there are plenty of pickings in the fridge. Welcome to 2peas, chefsuzyq (from yesterday’s thread). I hope you’ll continue to join us here at the dinner table. Cute glasses, tmarschall! That lake is gorgeous, cadoodlebug. What a nice place to walk. Enjoy your trip and the time with your BFF, taylortroop.

naby64 - I forgot to ask in my earlier post. Do you mind sharing the recipe for your lentil stew? I’m always on the lookout for good vegetarian dishes and I love lentils and African food, so it sounds good to me! It's from Nisha, Rainbow Plant Life, her new cookbook. Here is a link to her highlight video of her cooking it. I don't have berbere but several of the spices for the blend. I also used cooked lentils from Trader Joe's. www.instagram.com/reel/C_DielKP1ld/?igsh=bm0weXIwODQ5bG84My loose recipe: About 2 cups cooked lentils 1 red onion, chopped 4 garlic cloves, chopped 1 TBSP minced ginger 2 cups veggie broth 2 TBSP tomato paste The spices I used as subs: cinnamon, smoked paprika, ground coriander, ground ginger, cracked black pepper At this point it's too soupy. I used my immersion blender and I'm letting it sit a bit longer. It's also supposed to have a spicy "butter" sauce but I'm not sure I'm up to standing too much longer. I've been having some pains and think my kidneys are playing around.

I need to catch up on everyone but wanted to quickly post and share an update. jeremysgirl - thank you for letting everyone know I was ok. Power JUST came back on (Saturday afternoon)- we lost it late Thursday evening. Very grateful to all the linemen out working in the heat and humidity here. We're fine. House is fine - only damage was to a piece of trim on the screen room. LOTS of tree damage, multiple trees down in our yard including one blocking the driveway, and many, many branches down as well. Several sections of the side privacy fence are down and shattered. VERY glad we had those trees by the house taken down earlier in the year or things would have been a whole lot worse. County-wide - 99% were without power post-storm and we're only down to about 74% without now so that's going slowly. There were probably tornadoes - I haven't seen anything official but we definitely had warnings and there's damage consistent with them locally. And yet, we're still doing SO much better than the Gulf coast.
