See we both learned something. I did not know there was such a place called Coachella down south and you didn’t know there was a Chowchilla, in the Central Valley of CA. How about that. He won that area ? I and most around her thought it would be very blue. Boy was I wrong. And here several of us locally was waiting for a counter group. The demographic just doesn’t fit. "But the 2020 election results could hold a clue as to why Trump’s headlining an event in Coachella. Of the current six competitive House races in the state, Trump is visiting the only one that he won four years ago. Trump’s 2020 victory in the district currently held by GOP Rep. Ken Calvert was slim. But that’s exactly the type of race Calvert finds himself in now — a neck-and-neck contest where he needs to turn up every possible Trump vote to fend off a well-funded challenger." www.politico.com/news/2024/10/11/trump-coachella-rally-00183392

You want to know an interesting fact about generators that Trump probably doesn’t know? Someone has to *be there* to keep refilling them with fuel every so often. We recently had a multiple day power outage in our area. We have a gas generator that we fire up in such situations so we can keep our well pump running and our freezers and refrigerator going. We briefly considered going to stay at our lake place as an option until the power came back on until we realized if we did that, the generator keeping our stuff going would eventually run out of fuel and we’d lose everything in our fridge and freezers. The problem with giving someone a generator (even if it’s free) is that they can’t use it if no one is THERE to keep it fueled. How many people will resist evacuating when they really should, if they think they can get by with staying home and running their generator? And where are they going to get the fuel for it if everyone else evacuates? If gas stations run out of gas because everyone else is evacuating? It’s all so dumb. I’d venture a guess that most people / families just take the standard deduction and don’t itemize anymore, so saying you’ll give someone a tax deduction for a generator purchase wouldn’t do them any good at all. This isn't totally true. We have a natural gas generator. There is no need to fill it with fuel. It will run if we are home or not. Duly noted. But would you really want to turn something like that on and then leave for an extended time knowing there was a hurricane coming?

This is horrible. I really, really hope that people are tired of this and send Trump packing again. There is no way that someone could convince me that Trump and Republican aren’t largely to blame for the hate, anger and division in the country. I don’t know if we can get back to where we were pre-Trump, but I hate to see where we would be if he is given another four years (and longer with Vance).

Per CNN FEMA has stopped knocking on doors offering help in some areas of No Carolina. They have closed 8 distribution/application info centers. TFG will swoop in and claim the citizens are being denied help from FEMA. My DIL in Florida told me FEMA is not there or not helping and people cannot apply for help. It is in his hands but his people will not believe the truth..

It is scary how much misinformation is out there and what people choose to believe or ignore. I am seeing it more and more on Nextdoor. The conspiracy theorist are popping up on my Nextdoor feed as the election gets closer. Speaker Johnson is another slime ball. I read he doesn’t want to bring Congress back until after the election, meanwhile they can’t vote on more aid to the hurricane victims.

A whole house generator (and having it connected) can run into the thousands of dollars which is something many families wouldn’t be able to afford up front. Our neighbor just got one and said it cost around $12K (not sure if that was including installation) which was why we didn’t look into it further. We have a $1500 gas generator and we had an electrician come install a small electrical box that we can connect it to to power the most important things (well pump, furnace, freezers, microwave and refrigerator). We were surprised the last time we needed it that it would run for roughly 12-15 hours on a tank of gas. We spent $$$$$ money this year having 24 solar panels installed on the garage roof. If we were going to spend more money on something power related, we’d get the battery backup system for that.

Olivia Troye is speaking out... She was aide to former VP Pence, for National Security.. x.com/OliviaTroye/status/1845843034874753275Show more: This is an alarming moment for country. FEMA's life-saving disaster recovery efforts in North Carolina were disrupted due to threats against federal workers by militias, forcing aid to be paused in hard-hit areas. As communities struggle in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, disinformation & intimidation only deepen the crisis, putting both survivors & responders at greater risk. We must reject this dangerous behavior, stand by those in need & ensure truth & safety prevail in disaster relief efforts. America is better than this.

North Carolina man was arrested and accused of threatening federal aid workers providing disaster relief after Hurricane Helene. Rutherford County sheriff’s deputies took 44-year-old William Jacob Parsons, of Bostic, into custody and charged him with going armed to the terror of the public after he allegedly made a comment about harming workers from the Federal Emergency Management Agency while carrying a military-style rifle, reported WGHP-TV. *** Authorities say he acted alone in making the alleged threat, and he was released from custody on $10,000 bond. "FEMA continues to support communities impacted by Helene and help survivors apply for assistance," the agency said in a statement. "For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments. Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery.” Donald Trump and running mate J.D. Vance have falsely claimed that FEMA was offering only $750 total in disaster relief and spread other baseless allegations about the federal response to last month's hurricane, which state governors and local officials alike have disputed and said had sowed mistrust in government workers. www.rawstory.com/william-jacob-parsons/

Warning.. graphic description of how they tortured an animal... Yes, they can go lower... NEA leadership, again... The new president of the National Rifle Association took part in the 'gruesome" torture of a cat while a student, according to legal documents unearthed by the Guardian. The news outlet reported that Doug Hamlin was charged with animal cruelty and was ultimately forced to plead no contest while an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. *** According to the report, he and his fraternity brothers captured a pet cat and engaged in "gruesome" torture that involved cutting off the animal's paws before stringing the it up and setting it on fire. *** All of those involved were expelled from the fraternity, which Hamlin was the president of at the time. District Court Judge S.J. Elden "singled Hamlin out for criticism, saying he could have prevented it from happening as the leader of the fraternity," the report stated. “Heartlessness must be in the job description to run the NRA,” Nick Suplina of Everytown for Gun Safety told The Guardian. “This revelation shows that the NRA has failed to turn the page on its scandal-plagued leaders and its doom spiral continues with Hamlin at the helm.” One of the former fraternity brothers came forward to speak about the event to The Guardian and describe his regret. The student who reported the incident to the police, Shelagh Abbs Winter, is now an active member of Moms Demand Action, a gun safety group trying to stop school shootings. She said that at the time she remembered feeling threatened. www.rawstory.com/nra-doug-hamlin/

Well we know TFG went low on giving out pardons and some of them are going even lower, committing new crimes.. How many people pardoned by Trump later committed crimes? Here’s the latest countPublished: Oct. 14, 2024, 4:43 p.m. By Lauren Sforza | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com A number of people granted clemency by former President Trump have later been charged with more crimes, according to an analysis from The New York Times. The New York Times reported that Philip Esformes became the latest person pardoned by Trump to be charged with another crime over the weekend. The newspaper reported that a public records database maintained by Miami-Dade County showed that Esformes was arrested and charged with two felony counts that could lead to jail time.Esformes is now the seventh person granted clemency by Trump who later was charged with a crime, according to The New York Times’s analysis. He is also the third to be charged with a domestic violence-related offense, according to the report. The New York Times reported that Esformes “verbally threatened a woman whom her relatives described as his wife, as well as a second family member, and further intimidated them by breaking items on a table filled with glassware, according to the woman’s relatives." The New York Times noted that Esformes’s commutation was “not recommended” by the Justice Department and was instead pushed for by influential figures and groups, including the Aleph Institute.Esformes, a south Florida health care facility owner, was found guilty in 2019 “in the largest health care fraud scheme charged by the U.S. Justice Department” at the time. He was charged in connection to making fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid in 2016.The Times reported that six others pardoned by Trump have also been charged with crimes since their commutations. Those people include: former Trump adviser Stephen K. Bannon, rapper Kodak Black, Eliyahu Weinstein, Jaime A. Davidson and Jonathan Braun.....Trump has also said that he would look to pardon the Jan. 6 rioters who stormed the Capitol in 2021 and charged with crimes.About 1,532 defendants have been charged in connection to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. www.nj.com/politics/2024/10/how-many-people-pardoned-by-trump-later-committed-crimes-heres-the-latest-count.html

Had to listen. Seems to be a genuine apology. The rumors surrounding Hurricane Helene were vast. There were false claims that people taking federal relief money could see their land seized. Or that $750 is the most they would ever get to rebuild. Or that the agency’s director — on the ground since the storm hit — was beaten up and hospitalized. But former U.S. Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan, host of the “Shawn Ryan Show” podcast, issued an apology over the weekend for saying on his show Kamala Harris recently took part in a photo op with a plane packed with supplies for storm victims that never reached the people they were meant to help. x.com/JustTheFacts_68/status/1845642466269049045www.nj.com/politics/2024/10/trump-maga-podcaster-has-to-admit-lies-about-harris-and-hurricane-relief.html

GOP targeting college students in Wisconsin.... Voting rights groups are sounding the alarm about anonymous text messages allegedly sent to college students in Wisconsin, threatening them with prison if they vote, according to CNN. "The unsolicited text, sent from at least one 262- number to cell phones of people in their early 20s on University of Wisconsin campuses and elsewhere, says: 'WARNING: Violating WI Statutes 12.13 & 6.18 may result in fines up to $10,000 or 3.5 years in prison. Don’t vote in a state where you’re not eligible,'" reported Katelyn Polantz. Those statutes prohibit someone from voting by mail in a Wisconsin election if they have moved out of Wisconsin. They do not apply to students who moved to Wisconsin for school. Voting rights groups fear that students could be intimidated out of voting by the message, with Free Speech for People's Courtney Hostetler warning, “It’s trying to convince students living in Wisconsin they don’t have a right to vote there.” www.rawstory.com/wisconsin-voter-intimidation/

They can and have gone lower... Senate Candidate Says Dept. Of Education Is Meant To 'Indoctrinate And Enslave' “We formed that department so little Black girls could go to school down South and we could have integrated schooling. We don’t need that anymore," the Republican said. By Igor Bobic Oct 16, 2024, 11:58 AM EDT Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy of Montana wants to abolish the U.S. Department of Education, claiming it is meant to “indoctrinate and enslave” students across the country, according to The Daily Montanan. “We have a Department of Education, which I don’t think we need anymore,” Sheehy said at a campaign stop in Billings earlier this year, according to audio clips obtained by the outlet. “It should go away. That’ll save us $30 billion right there.” “We formed that department so little Black girls could go to school down South and we could have integrated schooling. We don’t need that anymore,” he added. The Education Department was elevated to a Cabinet-level agency in 1979 by then-President Jimmy Carter, more than 20 years after school segregation was decreed unlawful and integration efforts began. Today, roughly 90% of students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend public school in Montana, totaling about 150,000 children. The agency enforces federal statutes prohibiting discrimination and ensures equal access to education for every individual. Conservatives have long pushed to abolish the department in favor of local control of education and block grants to states. Former President Donald Trump also vowed to eliminate the agency if he returns to the White House to “stop the abuse of your taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America’s youth with all sorts of things that you don’t want to have our youth hearing,” referencing accommodations and nondiscrimination protections for transgender students. Sheehy, a wealthy GOP businessman seeking to oust Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) in November, has used similar language to criticize women who fear the loss of their reproductive rights. “They’ve been indoctrinated for too long,” Sheehy said at another campaign stop last year. “Abortion is their No. 1 concern. It’s all they want to talk about. They are single-issue voters.” www.huffpost.com/entry/tim-sheehy-montana-senate_n_670fc9ebe4b051e9bd9b16c7

Arizona voters are getting notices in the mail telling them that Harris is cancelling their Medicare. They are being sent by a TFg super PAC. The mailers, sent out by MAGA, Inc., "had a big red stamp that proclaimed, 'Medicare Cancellation Notice.' Also emblazoned on its front was this: 'Warning: Rates are going up & plans are being cancelled. Details enclosed.' Its return address was the 'Department of Medicare Cancellation, Kamala Harris Administration,'" reported David Corn. The mailers also included the following message in cursive script: “I hope you can afford to lose your insurance! — Kamala Harris XOXO.”*** The back of the mailer warned that Harris “has a new plan that would completely liquidate Medicare funds,” and "All the money you’ve paid into Medicare will be gone ... Your care [will be] cancelled.”*** Ironically, Medicare's viability could actually be threatened by Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's controversial hiring and policy blueprint for Trump if he wins the election; the plan calls for expanding Medicare privatization and making Medicare Advantage plans the default option for enrollees, and repealing prescription drug negotiation, which would result in vastly more of Medicare's budget flowing to private corporations with less oversight and increased health costs. MAGA, Inc. is run by former Trump aides, and is bankrolled in part by Timothy Mellon, a reclusive railroad heir who has become one of the GOP's largest megadonors of the 2024 cycle. www.rawstory.com/maga-inc-medicare/
