I don't get it either.. Work with a woman, single mom of 2 struggles day to day financially.on state assistance. full time job grocery store so not great pay but some benefits- she doesn't drive so has to work within walking distance. But Trump certainly wouldn't do her any favors. Told me of someone she knows who would've died during miscarriage without medical help and d&c and how awful it was etc. Voted Trump last week.. I do not get it. She has a daughter too.. She most likely sees that things were better before Biden. Financially a lot of people are hurting right now. No one can deny that. You don't have to like the presidential candidates, and everyone has different things that matter to them. So what, in your analysis, should Biden have done to bring down global inflation faster? And a follow up question - why do you think grocery prices have remained high even as inflation has fallen?

We will vote for Trump because we are all smarter than you and really do not want to led by a pathetic do nothing. What a puzzling response.
Please name ANY vice president in the past who has "done things." VP serve as "in waiting" unless something happens to the President and then they are installed and have the ability to do things. Otherwise the VP is window dressing for the administration.

Regarding inflation....it seemed to be a world wide happening. The inflation in the US has almost disappeared.
High prices now are the result of corporate greed, IMO. They are keeping prices high because they can.

Pretty sure no one ever accused George senior of “doing nothing“ as Reagan’s VP.

It’s really so obvious. You can see it and hear it happening.
It’s the oldest ruse in the world. Prey on the weak.
weak people - think he’s strong.
poor people - think he’s rich
not smart people - think he’s smart
scared people - think he’s king
And all of the above are easy prey. Easy.

The ones in my life are generally: A. Pro-life Catholics B. Non-college educated/college dropout boomers and GenXrs with MAGA DHs/SOs C. Antivaxx/Covid deniers D. Middle class but with limited "small town" worldviews ---Example: they may travel but it's going to be Nashville, FL, or Mexico and they do not watch or read unless it confirms their biases, and they are mostly around other people who think like them and they often drink/go to the bar. E. If older (boomers), have always been Republicans, and it's their identity. They have also spent the last 30 years listening to right-wing radio/pundits. Usually more than one of the above. Catholics? I thinks it’s more the evangelicals up here. The Catholics are really open minded here I live in NYC and yes, many Catholics are open minded but a friend who went to mass this morning told me the priest gave a homily that basically said to vote against abortion.

I don't know any Catholics who would vote for Harris. I know a very few that won't vote for Trump either. But most I know (lot of family) are total trumpers.

I grew up catholic and my extended family is still catholic. They are split on which political party they support. It doesn’t really have much to do with religion for them as far as I can tell.

Because he says the things that used to be whispered out loud.
It's not about money (our 401K has grown significantly since Trump left office). It's not about inflation (have you seen gas prices lately?). And I really don't think it's about abortion.
It's about race. It's about immigration. It's about misogyny and homophobia. It's about a world that is changing faster than these Trump voters can keep up and it scares them.

I lost my post from last night - I'm Irish and hispanic - everyone is Catholic - even if it's just for looks. The most devoted Catholic I know just celebrated her daughter's marriage - to a woman. Maybe it's because we're "cultural" aka cafeteria Catholics, but no one since my grandma had 15 kids believes the pedagogy - honestly maybe if they weren't so ridiculous with the whole birth control thing people would take more stock in what they're saying. But of those 15 kids exactly zero had more than 3 kids.

Tonight’s speech by Trump and his supporters was a good example of that. That’s why many of us say that this is more than just a difference in politics. It’s about character and values.

Pretty sure no one ever accused George senior of “doing nothing“ as Reagan’s VP. True, but he was very experienced. I don’t remember all of his jobs, but he was a veteran, businessman,Congressman, Ambassador, chairman of the RNC, and director of the CIA. He knew foreign policy, which is fairly unusual. Reagan didn’t, so he relied on Bush. I voted for him in ‘88.

Supporting fascism If you are voting for Trump after this rally, you support fascism. If you claim it's because of taxes or immigration or whatever issue makes you feel righteous about supporting a fascist, you're like an Italian supporting Mussolini because he made the trains run on time.

MAGA is trying to defend this as comedy, Democrats don’t have a sense of humor etc. None of this is funny. www.nytimes.com/live/2024/10/27/us/harris-trump-election#trump-hinchcliffe-msg Former President Donald J. Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday opened with a standup comic who called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” in a set that also included derogatory remarks about Latinos generally, African Americans, Palestinians and Jews.
The crowd inside Madison Square Garden was predominantly white, with a significant number of Latinos. Many groaned at Mr. Hinchcliffe’s insult to Puerto Rico. Still, he told a tasteless, vulgar joke about the size of Hispanic families, mentioned watermelons as he called out a Black man in the audience and mocked Palestinians as rock-throwers and Jews as cheapskates.
But in New York, Mr. Trump’s rally featured a series of speakers whose remarks were far outside of longstanding political boundaries.
One, Sid Rosenberg, a conservative radio host, referred to Hillary Clinton with profanity and a sexist epithet. And Grant Cardone, a businessman who spoke early in the program, referred to Ms. Harris as if she were a prostitute. Later in the program, Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host, mocked Ms. Harris’s racial identity and intelligence as he jeered the idea that she could win in November.

Financially a lol of people are hurting right now. Everywhere. Things were better here before the pandemic - not "before Biden." The pandemic wreaked havoc on all economies -it had nothing to do with who was in office at the time. Here, the same guy who was in office before it, still is. And people are hurting, the economy sucks.

Of course no MAGA followers seem to take the fact that our economy is actually better than many countries right now (and they don’t have Biden) into consideration when saying that the economy is their main issue. Makes me think they are not really telling the truth about that. If they really were concerned about the economy they would listen to the economists when comparing plans from both candidates. But they don’t.

I thought it is sort of an unwritten rule. You do not make fun of people outside of your ethnic group. The comedian at Trump’s rally was a white guy making fun of Latinos, Blacks, and Puerto Ricans. I don’t have TikTok but I heard there is a lot of videos about this on there by Puerto Ricans and Latinos.

What just slays me is every time they cross another line, I think maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. And every time, it isn’t because they go on to cross yet another line. And yet people keep signing up for more. How can people not see that at some point they’re going to be the ones they come after? How can people not see history repeating itself, unfolding right in front of their eyes? 😳

I have a cousin who several years ago went through a terrible, contentious divorce from a narcissistic a$$hole of an abusive man. Yet she supports Trump and Vance. Does she not know about the video where Vance is literally saying that women should stay in marriages, even when they are abusive? I don't get it.

It doesn't sound like she learned to recognize the signs of narcissistic, abusive a$$holes. Trump and Vance both fit at least two of those descriptors.
