Scary stuff! But, they are just following their Grand Dragon Trump’s lead when he says he will prosecute anyone who opposes him. This makes me worried for Democrats no matter which side wins the election.

I understand how someone's priority could be the economy and inflation. I just wish they would educate themselves on each candidate's proposals and realize what a disaster Trump would be for the economy. Economists almost universally agree that his tariff proposals are a terrible idea, they will drive up the cost of goods and American families will pay more. Trump, not an economist , is almost the only one who thinks tariffs will lower prices. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/10/29/trump-economy-inflation-tariffs-fascism-2024/But even if you prioritize affordability concerns, Trump is still an abysmal candidate.
To be clear: Whatever their promises, neither candidate can do much to substantially reduce inflation. There are, however, a few things they could do to make inflation much worse — and Trump has promised all of them.
The core elements of his economic agenda: 10 or 20 percent universal tariffs (including on the groceries Americans buy); mass deportations (including of millions of workers who harvest crops and build homes); and politicizing the Federal Reserve, which controls the money supply.
Each of these policies would worsen inflation, tank the economy and/or widen budget deficits.
Dozens of independent analysts — from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Goldman Sachs, Pantheon Macroeconomics, the American Enterprise Institute, the Brookings Institution, Morgan Stanley, Penn Wharton Budget Model, the Yale Budget Lab and UBS, among others — have assessed the economic fallout of Trump’s plans. While they differ on scope of the potential damage, virtually all predict it would be significant.
But as I’ve written before, those who would trade democracy for financial gain are likely to get neither. Tax cuts aren’t the only thing that matters for personal or nationwide prosperity; rule of law is critical, too. (Not coincidentally, a Nobel Prize was awarded for this finding two weeks ago.) Rule of law matters for having a stable investment environment, for enforcing business contracts and for not having assets expropriated by the state without cause, among other things.
Trump surrogates often point out that Trump’s power abuses last time around had relatively limited consequences. Same with his most destructive economic impulses for trade wars and the like. Why, then, should voters believe Cassandras like me who warn that another Trump presidency would lead to authoritarianism, runaway inflation and economic depression?
The answer is simple: Last time, Trump had people — aides, courts, even a handful of Republican lawmakers — to hold him back. Next time, he won’t.

I saw a woman answering a post a friend made on FB about trump being awful, and her reasons to dislike the current administration were a vague comment about "the economy" and because while she thinks abortion is okay to save a woman's life, that should be the only time it's used. She went on to say that people know how babies are made and how to avoid pregnancy. (Because you know, birth control never ever fails and women only ever have consensual sex. ) Plus, "Harris is just as bad". When asked to expound upon how in the world she is just as bad, her answer was yet again vague: "I don't trust her." (Why? Because she's not a man? Because she's not white? No reason was given, of course. )

Staying true to character. Hopefully , the majority of women will fire him whether he likes it or not. An overwhelming loss to a female candidate would be poetic. www.nytimes.com/2024/10/31/us/politics/trump-women-like-it-or-not.htmlTrump Says He’ll Protect Women, ‘Like It or Not,’ Evoking His History of Misogyny Polls show Donald Trump is already facing a significant deficit with female voters in his race against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Former President Donald J. Trump said at a rally on Wednesday that he would protect American women “whether the women like it or not” — remarks that he cast as paternal but only served as reminders to many of his critics of his history of misogynistic statements and a civil court case that found him liable for sexual abuse.
Speaking near Green Bay, Wis., Mr. Trump told the crowd that his advisers had urged him to stop using a well-worn rally line about his desire to protect women, saying they had called it “inappropriate.” In recent months, Mr. Trump has boasted on social media and in his speeches that he would protect women in America by making their communities safer and by making sure they won’t “be thinking about abortion,” as he faces increasing backlash for appointing three Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
On Wednesday, he delivered similar remarks but added a new twist as he described onstage what he had told his advisers: “I said, well, I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not. I am going to protect them.”

I don't get it either.. Work with a woman, single mom of 2 struggles day to day financially.on state assistance. full time job grocery store so not great pay but some benefits- she doesn't drive so has to work within walking distance. But Trump certainly wouldn't do her any favors. Told me of someone she knows who would've died during miscarriage without medical help and d&c and how awful it was etc. Voted Trump last week.. I do not get it. She has a daughter too.. She most likely sees that things were better before Biden. Financially a lot of people are hurting right now. No one can deny that. You don't have to like the presidential candidates, and everyone has different things that matter to them. These things may be true but she now has a better full time job with benefits and more pay than she had then..not saying Biden had anything to do with that, but she's doing better now
