I think they mistakenly think he's going to fix inflation. Or they believe like the Trump supporter here that Trump will be better for her portfolio. (Not sure if that account is actually real) Or they like the image of Trump as a "strongman" (even though the rest of us know he's weak). Or they hate the same people and actually like his racist, xenophobic bigoted bullying. Or they're afraid and believe the right wing media bs about crime or immigration and somehow think Trump or the Republicans will fix it.

tucker carlson just talked about something sick and creepy: Donald is your daddy and will come home to punish you with a spanking. harris has no skills or education that makes her qualified.
it is so so sick. and they vote on emotion and not rationality.

I believe the man who owned the company for whom my DH worked, votes for him because of the promise of tax incentives for the wealthy.

I just finished this opinion piece from USAToday and then came over here and saw your post. So it is very timely. USAToday Will I vote for Trump?...I doubt seriously the piece will answer your question though. It sounds to me like the writer is looking for an excuse to vote for Trump. Every complaint she has about Harris, you could find about 5 things equal or far worse about Trump. Harris is at times long winded - the 'word salad' complaint. Has the author listened to Trump's incoherent speeches? The media is on Harris' side, she claims, when FoxNews and the Republican National Committee might as well share office space. People still have this rose colored view of the Trump years. They somehow think that if they reelect Trump, the price of eggs and car insurance will magically revert to pre-pandemic amounts even though the costs of these items aren't affected by anything the administration has done or anything Trump can or will do. Women are just as guilty as men of voting for the person they think will make their lives better in the near future. And money trumps everything, even democracy.

Excluding those who expect to get tax cuts and deregulation that will help their business, I think deep down he is what they want to be or are. They may dress is up by saying they want secure borders etc but basically they share his values.(whatever those may be) Just my opinion. I heard someone I know refer to Kamala as That Womam and thought to myself there has to be some sort of mysoginism to refer to her that way and be a 45 supported with all the actual things he does.

I have no clue. I mean we could also say: Why would farmers vote for Trump his trade war cost them money last time Why would anyone over 50 vote for Trump he wants to gut SS and raise the retirement age ( and sundown Medicare at 85? Where exactly does one get medical ins again at 85? ) Why would women or people of color vote for Trump he wants to repeal the civil rights act Why would anyone vote for Trump he want to use the alien act of 1798 to inter Americans he doesn’t agree with ‘enemy from within’ Why would anyone want that person with this much mental decline have the nuclear codes.
And before ‘you’ say it won’t be a Trump presidency Vance plans to replace him, Vance is just as bad or worse on all of these points as he is Theil’s puppet. Theil wants a dictatorial plutocracy
I can not wrap my mind around it at all. It just defies logic.

I am still completely bamboozled that SEVENTY FOUR MILLION people - men and women - voted for him in 2020.
Nearly three times the population of Australia thought that he was the best person to run your country.

Because they think this is all lies by the Democrats, and if you show them a video, then they think the video was edited. Also, some women don't want to vote for Kamala because of the abortion issue. They feel the Republicans will take a harder stance against abortion. Not to mention that Kamala apparently slept her way to the top and had an affair with a married man, even though that married man had been separated from his wife for over 10 years. But, oh no, we can't have that kind of woman in the White House. It is ok for a man to be a sleaze, but not a woman.

Lately I have been thinking a lot about why abortion is such an issue for people that I see billboards and signs discouraging abortion or “pray to end abortion but I have never seen any billboards or signs saying to pray to end gun violence. People will vote based on abortion restrictions but don’t have any care in the world about protecting people from other forms of “killing” (as they call it).

I saw a bumper sticker last weekend about Prop3 (Missouri) and a line saying “no tax funded abortions!”
I was outraged on several levels (mind your business, someone had to make that sticker, health care is not taxpayer funded, and so on).
I really want to post on Facebook asking ONE Trumper with a daughter to tell me why he’s voting for the American nightmare. Hell, if you have a daughter, sister, wife, mother, whatever, why is he a good idea??
I have three Republican “friends” on Facebook who reliably reply if I get political, and they all have daughters and no sons. But they have to comment against what I’ve said.
It’s absolutely boggling.

The decision also affects males.
Why do girls pick the 'bad boys'?
Why do woman go to prisons and marry prisoners who are strangers?

Pro-Choice is NOT pro-abortion!!

I see my SIL's FB page and yesterday I just had to unfriend her. She is a HUGE supporter of him and I don't get it at all. She even goes to the rallies and whatever else. She has all the hats and shirts. Big flag in the yard. I just can't with her anymore. I almost feel like she loves to rub in it. I had her on unfollow but occasionally I would peek and see what she is up to. Yesterday was the last straw.
Thankfully they live really far from us and I don't have to associate with her although it makes me sad. But she is so in your face about it, I won't do it. My best friend is a supporter but she knows where I stand and we respect each other and neither of us talk anything political. Works just fine.. I don't know why SIL has to be such a PITA about it.

I saw a bumper sticker last weekend about Prop3 (Missouri) and a line saying “no tax funded abortions!” Since they clearly don't know anything about history or abortion law, you can inform them that the Hyde amendment outlawed using any federal funds for abortion way back in 1977. Most so-called pro-lifers seem unaware of that fact. As to the OP - women aligning themselves with the male power base to boost their own sense of safety, security, and superiority is nothing new. It's a form of internalized misogyny.

Two reasons that I have heard over and over again:
1. The country needs to be led by republicans in their opinion. Keeping a republican in office trumps all else for them, no matter what. (This often goes hand and hand with simply not believing anything good they hear about democrats in office or running for office or anything bad they hear about republicans.)
2. They are pro-life, and nothing anyone says will alter their opinion that a law against all abortions is the only way to go. And no amount of questioning about the care of mothers and children after the child is born, or the health of women with complications will sway them from their very deep belief that there needs to be a law to protect the unborn.
For those voting pro-life, #1 therefore becomes vastly important, as well, even if they don't also believe that from a fiscal sense.

Yeah, nice people in their little carefully crafted bubble world who are actually racists when removed from their little comfortable space. I had one out themselves last weekend in front of me. I never really knew they were racist, I mean they’ve voted for him before so I felt they were probably closet racists, but now I know for sure. Never had the opportunity to see evident first hand before. . If you’re voting for Trump you approve of his outright racism. He is an out, proud racist who says racist things in literally every speech he gives. Voting to put him in the whitehouse says clearly you approve of that racism, there is no excuse for that, none. So, no, not nice people, just people still hiding their true selves.

🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
We have been struggling to answer the question of what anyone-especially women-see in Trump. But it seems to be a smorgasbord of reasons.
They don’t understand that reducing inflation does not mean that prices return to those of yesteryear. Plus, some companies have reportedly been price gouging to raise their profits. The best way to lower the price of eggs IMO is for people to stop buying them. But that won’t happen.
They are not political-not interested-and vote as their husband does. 🤦♀️ I know several smart women who do this. I do not understand why though.
Some of them are pro-life and that is their big issue.
Conservative media have not shown Trump’s biggest word salad moments. Several people that I know had no idea that he rambled about sharks and batteries more than once. They watch Fox. I am convinced that Trump is getting senile, but they have no idea.
They hate Dems and will vote for Trump no matter what.
They do not know that Republicans-on Trump’s orders-killed an immigration bill last Spring that would have given conservatives much of what they wanted. No debate-it was DOA.
There are probably lots more reasons.

Lol. After my big purge of my friends list following trump's win over Clinton I kept one trumper. He's the husband of a friend (poor woman, she's a Democrat and has to live with him ). I did the same, unfollowed him but felt compelled for some dumb reason to peek every once in awhile. I unfriended him also after it got to be too awful.

I think misogyny plays a big part. People think that women aren't as strong or capable of being respected as men. Even if they don't admit it. My sister is the Democratic chair of her small Iowa county and I have another sister who worked on the Biden campaign and now the Harris campaign. The older one (she is still only 35) called Kamala a "token" on two accounts last week and was saying something about "you can't put the token on the top of the ticket." I wasn't quite sure what what she was trying to say but didn't want to get into it with her where we were, but now I have been wanting to ask her more. The one who works on the campaign said that she has had women tell her (when knocking on doors or phone banking in a swing state) that they won't vote for a woman. One woman told her that while her 10ish year old granddaughter stood right next to her! Some of it is also just the same old reasons why it is not in anyone's interests to vote for Trump. They live in an alternate universe where they are ignorant to the fact that they are the ones who are being conned, not us. Politics girl had a good video recently. It's about men not voting for a woman, but I think much of it can be applied to women as well. youtu.be/C2Se5KYwvKw?si=cmqp0EqrOMzWPUJ9

I think, as an old con man, Trump saw the easiest of cons. You prey on the weak. They fell for it, hook line and sinker. He cultivated his base very, very well.
eta ~ I thought this was the question of general support for Trump. Not exclusively about why women vote for him. I am referring to all of his followers.
