100k votes out standing in Georgia. Trump is up by 118,000. One area is Republican. Well it looks like they didn’t need the bomb scare to win then…

Black men voting or Trump increased a lot.
Same for Latinos.
And blue collar jobs are voting more for Trump.
Why?
Economy.

Even though he is going to increase taxes in the middle class. Even though all experts are saying his plan will hurt the economy and that his economy wasn’t great even before the pandemic. People have short memories, selective memories.

I am so sad that our small business will probably go under now, developing a small molecule drug for breast, ovarian, melanoma cancer as NIH will be destroyed. WTF

I really do wonder how things will play out. It’s not looking like there will be any guardrails at all this time. With the Republicans in all three.

My faith in my fellow females is destroyed. So many young females I know voted for Trump. So many older females I know vote for Trump. So many of my Hispanic students are Trump fans.
What am I missing? I just don’t get it.

So it seems like reproductive rights wasn't really the go to we thought it would be. It wasn't the reason to turn away from Trump.
But the economy was what swung people to Trump.
People are hurting. I know that. Shit, it's starting to affect us. But it didn't turn me to vote for an asshole. I am also curious how much the wars affected the vote.

I need to force myself to go to bed. I am disappointed af that I was naive enough to believe that this was going to be an absolute landslide. I thought women, especially, and maybe even a large portion of decent men would be sick of the drama and bullshit surrounding Trump and vote blue even if they had always voted republican. I'm just, idk, sad? Definitely disappointed in the numbers even though there's still a sliver of hope. I am just stunned that Trump's numbers have increased so much. And that the down voting is trending red as well. It is all mine boggling. Especially after being convicted of 34 felonies and having Elon and RFK Jr. on his side. That many people said, “yep, he’s going to be great for the U.S. and for me.” Unfreaking believable. Climate change, women’s reproductive rights, protecting gay marriage and trans rights, foreign diplomacy…I can’t believe that supporting those issues put us on the wrong side of history in 2024. Even after everything we’ve been through, I still can’t believe it.

What am I missing? I just don’t get it. I think it's because many have blue collar jobs that work with goods and those goods are way more costly and they are loosing out on income. The economy affects the blue collar persons the most. When an auto worker who gets all kinds of discounts and 0% apr on the loan still can not afford a new vehicle there is an issue.

And I think we have seen most states pass abortion laws. But the wars and the economy hurt everyone.

We have already been dealing with dump's repeal of Tax Section 174 in 2021 for small business amortization. Dump has no desire to help the NIH and cancer research, well I guess if he gets cancer and maybe then a priority for him.

But I don’t see him helping the economy. I always heard that Republicans were the best for the economy but looking at the data for the last 50 years it’s the exact opposite. I thought more should have been pushed on the economy yes women’s health is important but polls showed that the economy was important as it always us. Unfortunately I think he is going to hurt most Americans when it comes to this. I was hoping he would lose and then things would get back to normal.
I have been seeing prices go down on so many things. Not all but so many things. Harris talked about stopping price gouging to and had so many good policies vs his concept of a plan.

When a poll shows 2/3 voters were not in favor of the way the country was moving, thats a huge problem for the current administration. And with Harris being part of the current administration, she is going to be seen as part of the problem. I'd actually like to see people's reasons and specific responses as to the "way the country was moving"... and not some generic bullshit answer. What is the problem? It's hyperbole.

When you look at a grocery store you have the store charging to have the item, shipping costs which have gone up, product price which has gone up, materials which has gone up, labor which has gone up, etc etc etc. Should CEOs make what they make? No. Certainly not. But how will you fix each of those steps to lower costs?

I know California went blue (as always) but quite honestly, Kamala did a shit job when she was the DA in SF and the state AG. Crime is rampant in CA (as well as most places now, really) due to laws that tended to not want to prosecute criminals. CA just, tonight, passed (or looks like it’s passing) a proposition to fix one that was voted in that lessened criminal charges for certain crimes.
I think people see this and are worried.
That said, as others have pointed out, the economy is huge in this election. Many are struggling to make ends meet. I’m a 26 years of service teacher and my pay went DOWN $200/mo while everything I have to pay for has gone UP. My pay decreased because my monthly insurance premium went up $200 and we are still negotiating out 24/25 contract in my district.

The wipe out of the middle class. Home ownership is unattainable. (Specific - after Covid cost of wood increased significantly which drove up home prices even more. A $500k home is now $750/850k starting in my area. And even at 500k, there was no way we could afford a home) Paying for college is unattainable. (Specific - CSUs voted to raise tuition again) (another specific - a degree no longer guarantees a well paying career so the cost to benefit ratio is off) Multiple jobs needed to make ends meet. Rent prices. My friends have their adult kids still living at home. Dd won't be moving out for quite awhile. Rent starts at 4k here for a 2 bedroom. What did Biden admin do to fix those issues?

Yes, there is no "fix", but there has to be something... come on something. You can't blame it on a president. It's the world economics. Is that what folks are doing basing their vote on a president to fix all things? The world is different now. We all have to adapt. My family and I have thrived the last four years and we will not under dump and pretty sure our company will go under and will not be able to get our therapy to cancer patients because dump will not fund NIH cancer research.

This is a meaningless question because it doesn't answer why. I think the country is on the wrong track because we likely elected a rapist, criminal, insurrectionist to President a 2nd time. Dobbs taking away women's rights, the Supreme Court ruling the President is essentially a King. I'm more shocked by the third that says we're on the right track. If people were their current age in the years after the financial crisis, 9/11, the 90s, the 80s, the 70s, the 60s I think they would find that the every day struggles still dominated people's lives. Some things were easier, and other things were much, much harder. Taxes were worse, gas prices and other prices on specific goods were higher, inflation was a beast. But people don't have that frame of reference. In my lifetime the number of middle class people who own rental or vacation homes, toys like multiple cars, ATVs, RVs, take not only regular vacations but basically to anywhere including international destinations is soooo much higher than when I was a kid, pet ownership, gadgets, etc. And compared to my mother who was one of five kids, it is unimaginable. We have so much stuff and opportunities available to us, via human ingenuity and progress that I've said even someone like Elon Musk or Bill Gates don't have enough money to be enough. There is always more a person doesn't have. IMO, a large number of people who are in historical terms, better off, are acting like Veruca Salt, conflating their situation with those that are truly struggling. And sometimes the world is just harder, for factors that are unchangeable, and you have no choice but to go through.
