The right wing:
1. Parents should be able to make choices about their kids' healthcare! If they choose, they should be able to decline all vaccines and let their child die of measles.
2. Parents should not be able to pursue treatment for their child's gender dysphoria. The government has to step in and ban pediatric gender dysphoria treatments because parents can't be trusted to do the right thing for their child.
Make that make sense.

Oooh, this is a good one. Dump’s new Secretary of Defense is Pete Hegspeth, a Fox News anchor. He served in the army and has spent the rest of his career as a talking head. And famously, he doesn’t believe in germs because he can’t see them. Said he hasn’t washed his hands in 10 years. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/11/12/politics/pete-hegseth-secretary-of-defense

Project 2025 again. Trump can deny it all he wants but he keeps appointing key authors in his cabinet Tom HomanDemocratic Wins Media BREAKING: Jessica Tarlov just slammed Donald Trump for lying to the American people by claiming to not know what Project 2025 is and then hiring its author, Tom Homan. Good grief, after Hegspeth, I can’t wait to see who gets AG. I read that Mike Lee-a real Trump ball kisser, is a possible pick.😖 I suspect that Trump got the least objectionable ones out of the way first. Now we’re on to the worst of the bunch. I wonder if they will have to sing a song of praise for Dear Orange at Cabinet meetings?
It’s gonna be a long 4 years.

In comparison, Lloyd Austin has decades more experience.

Both have said that Trump is not fit to sit in the Oval Office. They had knowledge and experience that made them reluctant to go along with all of Trump's idiot notions. If you recall, that made Trump mad - he was said to have wanted "the kind of generals Hitler had." I'm sure Hegspeth will be just the bootlicker Trump is looking for. Next up - Jeanine Pirro for AG? Tucker Carlson for Secretary of the Interior?

While I was young I missed measles and mumps. Had chicken pox, whooping cough, scarlet fever quarantine signs and all. Measles at 20, very sick, Rubella at 22, not so sick. Never caught mumps although I was with my cousin the whole time she had them. I know my DS had chicken pox and Rubella, don't remember what else. Vaccines are life savers! I am a baby boomer. I was 5 yrs old and in kindergarten when a contracted measles, mumps & chicken pox, at the same time. I was quarantined in our family room, while my siblings had to stay upstairs. The room was kept dark and cool because I was delirious with fever. I was so, so ill - itchy and burning up with fever. I had long hair and remember begging my mother to cut off my hair. She finally chopped my hair off into a hideous pixie, but I didn’t care. I distinctly remember when I got ill. It was a few days before Valentine’s Day. I wanted to go to my class Valentine party so badly. I was so ill that I was not able to return to school until after Easter - more than 2 months later. No child in the US should ever have to endure that in today’s world of modern medicine.

“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait,” Trump said. “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”

He just gets worse and worse, the more I hear about him. Regrettably, they’re only getting started. I’m sure there will be picks I dislike even more. heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/november-12-2024Hegseth lobbied Trump to intervene in the cases of service members accused of war crimes, and he cheered on Trump’s January 6, 2021, rally. He became popularly known after accidentally hitting a man with an ax on the Fox & Friends show in 2015. Then, in 2019, he regained notoriety when he volunteered that he had not washed his hands in ten years because he does not believe germs are real. Hegseth has said women do not belong in combat and has been vocal about his opposition to the equity and inclusion measures in the military that he calls “woke.”

There’s more. I can’t believe people voted for this heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/november-12-2024Trump’s demonstration of his plans just before Senate Republicans have to choose their leader seems an attempt to jam those who might stand against him into his camp. And yet, the Framers of the Constitution believed that the Senate would be the key guardrail to stop the rise of an autocrat who would destroy democracy and install himself as a king. They expected that the determination of senators to guard their own power would protect the nation. Almost two hundred and fifty years into their experiment, we’re about to find out if they were right.

I agree with the nurse. It should ALWAYS and should have always been a choice. are you okay with that choice leading to a return of diseases that used to regularly kill children that have all but been eradicated thanks to vaccines? Like Polio, diphtheria, etc? I'm sure the World Health Organization will have a few things to say about this when/if it happens... eradicating disease is kind of a good thing for the entire world, isn't it? "America is the greatest country in the world." What a laugh. Makes me sick. America is RAPIDLY becoming a third-world country, as evidenced by pretty much every poll / survey out there. eta: the 'greatest country' should want to help ALL of its citizens, not just the select few / upper class / richest.

Don't think for a moment that this isn't all tied in to Republicans' desire to end public schools. No public schools, no entity requiring kids to be vaccinated before attendance, vaccination rates drop, and disease spreads. And somehow it will be Democrats' fault.

I expected a lot of “acting” titles right off the bat. One of the things they learned the first time around. If they can get the Senate to abdicate their “advise and consent” responsibilities, and make recess appointments they’d go with that too.

Does anyone else think his picks - cabinet, judges, whatever - are going to be installed rather than confirmed? Right, just like he had all of those “acting” secretaries last time, because none of the losers he picked would get enough approval to actually be confirmed.
