Big But Personal We have a big 12' tree in the foyer, but it is filled bottom to top with ornaments from our 30+ years of travel. It's so fun to remember our trips together when I decorate it. I also have a collection of carved Santas that bring back memories. There's more, and I love decorating, but it all feels really personal and brings me joy. OK, maybe the dancing 5' Grinch is a bit extra.

Sentimental Whimsical Lights
Every ornament has a story or a meaning. Many are in remembrance of someone we've lost.
We have lots of fun ornaments ... Like a really nice quality "catfish" We were traveling with friends and we saw these cute "catfish" ornaments. They are a cat in the front and fish in the back. For some reason, they cracked us up so we each bought one. LOL Our tree topper is a metal snowman with a spiral bottom to fit around the top of the tree. It's super cute and whimsical.
And lights! DH LOVES lights. Ours is super-bright changes colors and you can almost see it from outer-space! LOL

Vintage Ornaments Only
Okay, all except the special yearly ornaments I buy but don't always put up year after year. My living room tree is being decorated today. I've put up 250 vintage Shiny Brite round balls so far and up next is the couple hundred special shapes like indents, teardrop, glass icicles, etc. It takes forever but it brings me joy, which I'm in desperate need of after last week so it's worth the effort! Tomorrow I get to do the dining room tree which is also mostly vintage/antique ornaments.

3 Words: "Christmas Mish-Mash Explosion" It's primarily my kids' stuff, plus stuff we've purchased or were given over the years that has no cohesion at all, yet my kids want it all. And since my kids are either young adults or teens at this point, I feel grateful and happy that they care so much about decorating, so I embrace the mish-mash explosion and smile. (But I do have stuff and ideas on hold for when the decorating is all up to me, someday! )

Santa! Santa! Santa!
I inadvertently became a hoarder of Santas. I had a reasonable collection, nothing crazy, until my kiddo came into our family. Our son is adopted and a different race, so I became obsessed with finding and adding ethnic Santas. Since then I have become a crazy person and my collection has exploded. HO! HO! HO!

Not Doing It!
In all honesty, I have one dog who if it is in the house, she takes it out the doggie door. If it outside, she brings it in. I ask her how she got that large tree branch in the house, why is my clean shirt I was going to put on outside, and all I get is the tilt of the head look. I can just see a tree 1/2 in and 1/2 out the doggie door...lights, ornaments, and all.

in. the. attic.
I'm not sure I'm decorating this year. I swore I was going to take everything out, go through it and pare down but I haven't done that. I have too many other rooms torn up at the moment. We had an early light frost but my plants are still in pots outside and I have fresh hydrangeas in the house. I can't get in the Christmas mood.
