I need some happy thoughts, away from the doom and gloom! I'd love to hear what trips or events you have planned that you are looking forward to.
We're going up to Sydney for 5 days in February, for DSO's birthday. There are two couples who we love to travel with, and one couple is definitely coming with us, and the other couple is thinking about it. We will be spending two nights in the Blue Mountains, then two nights in Sydney. I've booked a twilight Harbour Bridge climb on the day of DSO's birthday. February is the last month of summer, and it's likely to be really hot. I can't wait!
We have also just booked tickets to the Summersalt music festival in March. (Maybe it should be called Autumnsalt??) Two of our favourite singers / groups are playing there, and the other acts are really good too, so it should be fun. We've gone to this particular festival two out of the last three years.
One of our travel buddy couples is going to Singapore / Koh Samui / Vietnam in April. They invited us to join them in Vietnam. We have been dying to get back to Vietnam, but unless we have an unexpected windfall, I don't think that we will be able to join them this time around. $$$
So tell me, what are you looking forward to?

We’re going to Seville in March 😊 At least we hope to! This will be our 4th attempt so we’re crossing our fingers 😊 Twice it got cancelled due to lockdowns and one because BA is a pain in the arse sometimes 🫤. And our youngest DD is getting married next August so that’ll be exciting and fun 😊

I’m planning to walk 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain in June. Loosely thinking about something fun/different for New Years 2025 such as Eastern Europe . Would love any ideas.

Next spring, probably at the end of May we will take the trip to TN we had to cancel this past September. We stay with family, but we are hoping to go to Nashville with them for a couple days as well

My son, who lives in the Boston area, recently texted me and his 2 sisters ( group text ) that he will take the 4 of us on a vacation wherever we want to go in the US. He has done this a couple of times before, but we usually pick Michigan, because we love it so much.
My one dd is out of PTO days for the year. So we are discussing where to go early in 2025. They are all married with families, but we like it when it’s just the four of us. It’s much more fun and bonding, and their families are happy that they get this opportunity. We are all excited about it.

I’m heading to London in the spring to run the London Marathon! 🇬🇧😊 I’m traveling with the same friend I just went to Germany with (we started in Munich for Oktoberfest, took the train to Berlin to run the Berlin Marathon, then went to Prague). We are looking forward to another stop on our (as we have dubbed it) “world tour of misery” 🤣

We're going to Toronto the week before Christmas. DH has been but the rest of us haven't. We're excited to do the Christmas Market.

We just got back on Monday night from our Hudson Valley trip, but are already planning to go back. We didn't get to see some sites and there are others we'll definitely visit again. We'll stop at Sleepy Hollow again, but focus more on north of Albany next time we go. DH wants to get a cabin in the Adirondacks.

We are going leaving for Florida on Thanksgiving day. We are taking my DD, SIL and DGS to Tampa. They are taking a week cruise to the Bahamas. They have had a rough year emotionally and are looking forward to some fun, relaxation and memories with DGS, who will be 6. We will be staying with my sister and brother-in-law while the kids are on the cruise. I'm looking forward to seeing my sister and family. We live in TN and don't get to visit often.

We're heading to England in January for DD's graduation, and from there we'll head to Scotland for a few days and then off to Madeira for my 50th birthday. I am so ready!

We're going to the Greek Isles in September 2025 and Portugal in September 2026. The friend who does these tours is planning one to Sicily in 2027 but that's getting out there as DH will turn 80 that year and I will be 79. We'll see.

We're going to Toronto the week before Christmas. DH has been but the rest of us haven't. We're excited to do the Christmas Market. We are going to the Christmas market as well! I went with my coworkers last year and we had a lot of fun so we are doing it again this year. We are about 45 minutes to an hour northeast of the city. Don't forget to get tickets.

I am going to Washington DC-- school trip with DS (15) --if it's still there in June. The farthest east I have been in the US is Colorado so skipping over two time zones is exciting We are probably going camping this summer if we book our campsite asap, and don't wait too long like last year... DD is graduating from high school this year... Other DD is transferring from the local college to a bigger school to finish her degree (she can't major in her major fully without the move). I attended said college one horrible year when I was 18 before transferring somewhere else. I am trying to decide if I will enjoy seeing the place again or have PTSD

Going to Disney World for Marathon Weekend in January (I’m only doing a 10k but should be fun), New Orleans, and Ireland/Scotland. These trips are the only thing holding me together lately!

I'm looking forward to going to Toronto with my sisters next week for the Taylor Swift concert, although I am also a little bit nervous. I have an enhanced ID, which the DMV and google tell me can get me into Canada by land, but I am still a little worried that we will get there and I won't be able to get in. I am also looking forward to seeing my oldest son for Thanksgiving, and seeing my other son and brothers at Christmas. My social life has been lacking and I am also looking forward to getting together with some other basketball parents tomorrow night.

Going to see Bruce Springsteen in Prague in June. And just a few days ago received a wedding invite to Scotland in July. So we might go on a cruise in between or go to Hungary/Austria and then the wedding.

We as a family are going to Puerto Vallarta for a week after Christmas. Looking forward to that! 🥰 We went to PV for the first time last winter. We loved it so much. We were at an AI south of the city, but we enjoyed going into town. We plan to go back next year. We are going to Punta Cana in February and Alaska for at least a week in July.

I just got back from visiting family and having fun in Chicago for 9 days. And my dog is getting chemo plus tore her ACL, so no vacations for a while!
But the good news is that they think she's probably in remission, and we will repeat a biopsy to confirm after this second chemo cycle is done. She's doing just great ❤️❤️
Normally DH & I go to Florida every January to celebrate our birthdays but I'll be skipping this year. Next May is our 30th wedding anniversary, maybe we'll go somewhere then!

Last December I asked for prayers because I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I asked God to let me live to see our 50th anniversary in April and I’m still here … in remission.
It’s been a long year because then I developed diverticulitis and had surgery and an ostomy bag and four days later had a heart attack.
I have prayed for years for God to bring a nice, Christian man into my daughter’s life, especially now that my husband and I are both sick. He has Alzheimer’s. God came through again!
The other day she said that they will be engaged “soon” and are planning a small wedding in April. Now I have that to live for! They are getting married in the log cabin overlooking a river where we were going to have our 50th anniversary but had to cancel. Best part is it is free since I won it. It’s on the grounds where I have our names for Assisted Living just in case. She’s also going to use my Mom’s wedding and engagement rings. ❤️
To top it off, “someday” when we are gone she and her husband are going to move into our house just five minutes from her sister. His parents are both also sick.
Boy, this all does this Momma’s heart good! 🥰 Not my news to announce but I can tell you all since no one knows me!

After thinking that I'd be taking a vacation break for awhile in order to get some financially stability things happened and now we're planning two big trips.
Oldest dd and myself are going to Barcelona and Madrid for Christmas. Youngest dd is teaching English in Madrid and I found out last minute that she was going to be alone for the holiday so we put together a quick, last minute visit.
Then our entire family is planning another trip to Madrid in April. Oldest dd and I are also discussing maybe making a side trip to Disneyland Paris on the way there. We're both big Disney fans and it looks like it won't add too much cost to the overall trip (lucky girl is also going to Portugal after Madrid with the grandparents, I'm being responsible and skipping that part of the trip).
Youngest was originally planning on coming home after her year in Madrid is over but the election results has her reconsidering which means we might take yet another big trip in 2026.

Me and my youngest DD iare going to England to visit my oldest DD, who is studying there. We’re going at Easter. Oldest DD has her birthday when we are there, so looking forward to a nice birthday dinner with my girls! Me and youngest are also spending a few nights in London on this trip, and we have tickets to Hamilton!
Just so excited to spend some time with both of them, it’s weird when one of us is not around every day!

AussieMeg- I’ve done the bridge climb and it’s wonderful- you will have a fabulous time. Both my DS’s live in Sydney and have arranged a family Christmas gift to see the Penn and Teller magic illusion show at Sydney opera house in the New Year. I’ve always wanted to see them since I saw their routine with the nail gun on TV …..and I’ve always wanted to see a show at the opera house so 2 bucket list ticks! Before that they will both be home, with their partners, for Christmas so even better ❤️

In just 4 short weeks I will be on a plane, flying back to Australia for Christmas and New Year. It’s been a tough year for our family - my stepmum came close to death twice, my DDiL miscarried, then less than a month later, her mum passed and I needed surgery to remove a brain tumour. We just need to be together at this time of year and I’m glad we could make it happen.
We’ve nothing else planned - we tend to be fairly spontaneous with vacations, depending on when DH can fit in a break. I am always amazed when I read people have vacations planned and booked over a year out!

summer Loosely thinking about something fun/different for New Years 2025 such as Eastern Europe . Would love any ideas. First of all - I don’t know exactly where you live and therefore what your regular climate is, but Eastern Europe will be VERY COLD at New Year. I’m also not sure what you call Eastern Europe, but Prague, Budapest, Krakow are all lovely. I haven’t been to them, but have also heard good things about Bucharest (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria). The last two are in what I would consider Eastern Europe. The others would consider themselves to be Central Europe, but I know many outside Europe call them Eastern.

My Soul Wknd friend and I have a cruise booked for March. Looking forward to being in the Caribbean for a week. A couple of them are celebrating big birthdays so we decided to do something special.
I also have plans for another river cruise. I'm hoping the lower Danube but it depends on availability.
I made tier 2 at work so I have earned a trip in the spring. I won't find out where or when until the end of January. I hope it's somewhere awesome. I always keep my fingers crossed for Iceland.
