Speaking of the rice challenge. It looked like some teams took great pains to sort the rice from the other stuff whereas some teams just dumped everything into the bag. Did y'all see the same thing?

Not a fan of Jonathan. It was weird that they showed him saying he needed to go to the bathroom a hundred times. My husband said they did it because he was an ass! 🤣 Can’t disagree with that. They wasted that pass and it’s going to bite them in the butt! Hopefully it will send them home! The voting for next week will be interesting!

Yes. Some people were picking and blowing the non rice bits out and some people just dumped everything in!

Speaking of the rice challenge. It looked like some teams took great pains to sort the rice from the other stuff whereas some teams just dumped everything into the bag. Did y'all see the same thing? Yes, it made me remember a podcast Penn & Kim Holderness did when they ran the race where Kim said that she was the type to be very precise in following what was on the clue, and in the task where they had to flip over the thousands of rocks the clue said to put the rock back where you found it and she was trying to place each rock back down exactly as it was until she noticed other people just flipping them back and they fell basically in the same vicinity where they had been. The clue was designed to keep you from creating a pile of unmarked stones, but she read more in to it than was intended. So I wonder if some of the people sifting the rice were thinking the clue wanted more precision than was really required. Because it didn't appear that anyone was even checking what was actually in the bag----unless they did off camera, of course.

I loved how everyone was hugging the lady with the clue after the rice challenge. A few didn't and you could see her leaning in for her hug!

It was a really dumb choice. That rice challenge didn’t even look hard. I mean it was tiring, but not complicated. It was a really bad choice. I really dislike Jonathan. He gets assy when they are having trouble. The faces and he was making and what he said to her about the soccer challenge really made me angry. I feel bad for her. She should have stayed separated and been free from him. I was giving him grace after the second episode, but know I'll be happy when he is gone. As much as they completely blew the 2 advantages, I had a heavy eye roll at Mormon dad giving them the "I'm disappointed in you and ignoring you treatment" as some kind of mature way to behave with other adults. I loved that all the teams arriving together were calling them out to Phil at the mat on trying to play the "we're old and not a threat" card. Mom of the mom and daughter team needs to trust daughter more. Not sad to see Bernie & Carrigan leave.

Very interesting at the in-person u-turn vote. 2 couples have to do both chores. Not surprising as to who was chosen and with how many votes each. Scott Thompson and Lori Thompson: Married couple are OUT! Maybe if they thought of the others as their *peers* rather than children, they might not have been dis-liked as much. Very close for Jon & Ana.

I thought the couple voted out live in a utah bubble where everyone is supposed to be nice and don't understand how annoying they were.. too good for the rest of the teams. they weren't particularly humble and focused too much on being parents and grandparents.
the amazing race is a place you can be nice but you need to show your human side too.. and competition should be expected, not friendship as you go through.

I won’t miss the team going home, even though the guy on the other double u turn team is getting on my last nerve. All of this. Scott & Lori were a team I liked in the beginning. I was impressed by how well they handled the tasks. But my gosh, since the moment they found they had been given the 25 pounds they have been so whiny and miserable and they just won't let it go. Then to make matters worse, they totally guilt-tripped Jonathan & Ana for the Driver's Seat choice, plus everyone who voted for them at the double U-turn. And they had the audacity to deny that they were a strong team who did well at tasks, as if every person there didn't know the truth of the matter. And then, they turned around and U-turned their "friends" in what smacked of revenge. I was already irritated with them, but then the whole U-Turn left me hoping they'd go home. But Jonathan----I need a whole other post for him.

Jonathan has been annoying me since the beginning when he was so pouty about not being first, and then today he basically said he expected to be first every leg--or at least really wanted to be. And when he gets upset he needs Ana to be there doing exactly what he wants her to do, but when she was upset his response was "Stop crying." Nice. And the way she immediately makes excuses for him over and over again makes me think he does this even when not on The Amazing Race. ETA: She seems very practiced at tossing out those excuses to me.

I couldn’t believe she was surprised they would be u turned though. I mean they have been in the top the entire time. of course people are going to U-turn people that are tough competition, which is them and the married couple who went home. She wasn’t bratty about it, but I was surprised that she was surprised. the older couple were just downright juvenile when they got the U-turn. I couldn’t believe how sour grapes they were. It’s a game. To go on a tirade and say they aren’t friends with anybody anymore? I’m surprised she didn’t tell them they were invited to her birthday party. So juvenile.

I was very disappointed that Scott and Lori went home. Not because I particularly like them, but I particularly do NOT like Jonathan. wow. The way he speaks to her, and his complaining, etc. And of course other teams are going to put a target on them so what does he expect?
I hope they have some major snafu next week that causes them to be last.

I didn’t like either of the last two teams so I was fine with either one going home.
Jonathan was such a jerk to her and then sitting there drinking water and then lying on the surfboard was just so weird. She left him once. She might want to think about it again because he has no respect for her.
I didn’t like Scott and Lori from the beginning. That constant we’re a weak team while always coming in with the leading teams just got old. I wasn’t the least bit surprised by how many votes they got. These other teams are not their children. They were so whiny at the end. They’re not our friends anymore. Seriously?
Other than Jonathan and Ana, we like all the teams that are left.

And then he left his water bottle on the curb. I know that is minor, but his deliberate littering just irritated me even more. I would like to think when she watches this she will see how terrible he is, but I think she will just make excuses. I wonder what her friends and family will think?

Not surprised by who went home but OMG can they get rid of Jonathan. I wonder if they still had the Express Pass if they could have used it today. Maybe not.
I was surprised at how much weight Scott and Lori had lost. I believe he said 100 pounds and she said 80.
Once Jonathan and Ana are gone, we like everyone too.

I was also irritated at him leaving the water bottle. Jerk. It was the icing on his crap cake. What a baby. And he is so rude to his wife it’s really hard to watch. I hope people IRL really give him crap for his behavior when they see this. He is the villain of the season for sure.

That's what DH said when Jonathan was saying how he was having such a hard time with everything---that he should have saved the Express Pass for a task like one of the ones in this leg. A U-turn situation is the perfect time to whip out an express pass.

I wondered if that was what he was thinking every time he put his head down on the surfboard. He was insufferable the entire day! I didn't really care for the live vote U-turn. To me, it felt like a way to get rid of one of the top teams just because they were a top team not because they choked doing a challenge or got lost or something. It's possible Jonathan and Anna would have U-turned Scott & Lori (based on their vote) but it wouldn't have been a guaranteed elimination because of the staggered start times for the other teams.

I definitely feel like they are trying to drive some drama this season with all of these "surprises"--the double elimination, the driver's seat followed immediately by the live and double U-turn. I hope it's something they don't opt to do every season going forward.

I was reading on Reddit, and I 100% agree, if they want to do a double U-turn and basically take down the top 2 teams, they need to make the road block after it way harder. It should involve some sort of skill. This one was kinda lame and a poster noticed: "I don't think there were any position changes at the road block which in my opinion is bad game design." This did nothing to shake anything up and basically left the top 2 teams who were give the double u-turn fighting for their lives.

They kind of wanted it both ways. You can't vote for us because we are so nice and friendly, but any vote we make is reasonable because we are competing. They were treating all the teams like they treat their kids. It worked really well for Scott to get one of the girls through the drum challenge but was embarrassing to watch them give Jonathon and Ana the silent/I'm so disappointed in you treatment when they caught up to them after the rice challenge. Personally I would have thanked them for obviously wasting both advantages. I wasn't impressed with the "we're over it" and "it hurt when you gave us 25 lbs" but "we're over it, let's move on" and then their vote showed clearly either they hadn't moved on and/or they think it is fine to vote for friends. And clearly having to produce 25 lbs didn't slow them down any. then lying on the surfboard was just so weird. I do think he was close to heat stroke based on that behavior. It was scary. Not that I'm a fan. He won't be able to watch these episodes without recognizing what an ass he is. It must kill him that Pops and Melinda are showing better stamina that his sorry self. I'm really rooting for both their teams to go far. And didn't Melinda and Erika beat another team to the mat this week? I also liked that Han and Holden seemed more in sync and no bickering this week. Almost forgot to mention that I loved the last pit stop was staying with local families - such a cool opportunity!
