All I can say is Ana needs to file for divorce ASAP!!!! He is awful to her and if he behaves that way with all watching I can’t imagine how he is in private. When they reached the mat and she immediately started taking blame DH commented about how beaten down she seemed to him. And when they were in the car and everything was always her fault I just thought once again that she seems so used to dealing with it all.

re: Jonathan. I started reading some stuff about how he has ADHD, and just learned this about himself. Was that mentioned in the show and I missed it, or is this after the fact and him trying to explain why he was such a dick sometimes? Hadn't heard it before. Sounds like trying to find an excuse for his poor behavior. I told DH about Jonathan's diagnosis and his reaction was "ADHD doesn't make someone act like that. Being an a$$hole makes someone act like that."

When she was saying she was sorry, my DH was yelling at the TV why is she sorry? Everything good that happens is because of him and everything bad that happens is because of her according to Jonathon. She seems like she tries so hard to keep the peace while he's beating her down. I really and truly hope she leaves him. She seems very nice and she deserves better than him. He seemed particularly bad in the last episode. I was sad to see the guys go. They seemed like a nice and strong team. I like everyone except for Jonathon so I don't want he and Ana to win. Of the others, Han and Hannah are my least favorites. I really like Carson and Jack and Alyssa and Josiah so I will be happy if it's either of those teams. Did I understand the previews to say that next week is a 2-night finale?

I can't remember a thing about the previews. I guess I was too busy being salty about Jonathan.

What I see from her behavior is a woman who is walking on eggshells constantly being meek, mild and taking all of the blame in an effort to keep Jonathan from blowing up. It’s a leaned behavior from being in an emotionally abusive relationship. That’s why when she’s constantly apologizing and taking the blame for whatever went wrong. Think about this: what we’ve seen on our tv screens has been edited. How much worse has he behaved that was edited out? And how much worse does he behave behind closed doors? I think Jonathan is emotionally and verbally abusive to Ana and I truly hope for her sake, and the sake of her daughters she seriously considers divorce when she views this season. I believe Jonathan is also a narcissist (he’s always right, nothing is ever his fault) and those types of people never change because they can never believe they are at fault.

As for this episode what a beautiful location! I thought the stork nest building challenge was cool because it was really neat seeing how they help the storks. When I visited Germany in 2017 I was walking through one town taking photos and a person touched me on the shoulder and told me to look up above me. There was a stork’s nest with a stork peering out from the top of it.
The water jousting was fun but I would have had a problem with the cheese challenge being lactose intolerant. Ugh! And no time to run to the bathroom. Sad that the nurses wasted time arguing whether or not to use their express pass as teams passes them by until they finally decided to use it, but it didn’t seem to matter to much since they came in second.
The laundry ladies were fun too.
I was so sad to see my favorite team the Vegas guys go home. They and the nurses are wonderful examples of how a healthy marriage can work when one has respect and love for another’s partner vs. Jonathan who only cares about himself.

We did a Rhine River cruise last year and went to Strasbourg and we saw storks and nests. Loved seeing it on the race. Brought back some great memories. I agree with everything you said about Jonathan and Ana. And the Vegas guys.

Jonathan makes me sick. It’s hard to watch him abuse his wife. Besides all the blame of “this is your fault” he kept throwing at her, he said “you are a terrible partner.” Dude, YOU are the terrible partner. You are just gross. I hope she has support to leave him. It was even more pronounced how bad it was as it seemed like they kept sliding from Josiah and Alyssa and their support for each other to Jonathan berating Ana. It was so sad when she’d put her sunglasses on to hide her tears as he was being an ass to her. I don’t know how the camera people can stomach it. I’d want to tell him to STFU. Ugh!!

I'm finally caught up enough to post!
I feel so badly for Ana - I hope if she leaves again, it sticks this time. Would she want her daughters to be treated this way? It irritates me how everything is "her fault," but he never does anything to help and he never accepts responsibility for messing up.
I felt bad for Alyssa. Yes, Josiah is always praising her, but he didn't listen when she repeatedly said she wanted to use the Express Pass. It's not like they could use it in the next leg, so why not use it after the first failed attempt? She was stressed about possibly going home for no reason.

Just watched it and am sad to see the guys go! They are both kind people who treated each other and others kindly.
I like Alyssa and Josiah but they should’ve left earlier during the cheese challenge. I was surprised as they are both nurses they couldn’t remember 4-5 cheeses.
My fav team is Jack and Carson, followed by Han and Holden and Alyssa and Josiah. I like Anna but haven’t liked Jonathan for most of the race. He’s a big baby who doesn’t support his wife. I hope she sees how awful he is to her and hopefully he can get some help.

Do any of you remember a couple on AR , I think it was season 6. His name was Jonathon also and her name was Victoria? He was just as bad or worse than this Jonathon!

Yes, I remember Jonathan and Victoria. Mostly because I love this show and have watched the seasons more than once. That Jonathan from season 6 was worse in one way because he physically shoved his wife (put his hands on her in an aggressive manner). I think from what I read they stayed together after the race, had a child but later divorced. Not totally positive on that last bit. The way Jonathan acts and speaks around Ana I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he hasn’t been physically abusive to her behind closed doors. Her responses and behaviors around him are telling too. They’ve been together 17 years. They were separated for a time but got back together. In my former abusive marriage it was mentally, emotionally and verbally abusive after the marriage but didn’t get physically abusive until 9 years had passed. Experts say it always gets worse, it doesn’t get better. I know Jonathan claims to have seen a psychiatrist who diagnosed him with autism. I think that doctor got it wrong. While I’m not a doctor Jonathan strikes me much more as a narcissist. Either way nothing, no condition excuses the way he treats his wife. If I was Ana I would run with my two girls. Sadly I’ve read she’s decided to stay and help him with his “condition”.

Sadly I’ve read she’s decided to stay and help him with his “condition”. To be fair we only have Jonathan's word he was diagnosed with autism. We have no idea if he was or not. And I know autism is a spectrum, but the way he acts would not be indictive of autism. He is making excuses, like a typical narcissist and his wife is probably so emotionally beaten down she believes him. I bet he and his family are likely blaming edit, but I don't buy it. The way she is acting is classic victim behavior. I wish she had friends and family who could help her see what is really happening. The other Jonathan was a horror as well. Found this little gem after a quick Google search because I was trying to recall the name of the other guy who shoved his wife on the mat. "Jonathan & Victoria competed on a Reality Stars edition of Fear Factor that aired in June 2006. They were eliminated when Victoria quit the second stunt after getting scared when she saw the tied up crocodile hissing and trying to turn around. She later punched Survivor: Pearl Islands contestant Jonny Fairplay for taunting her. Host Joe Rogan scolded her for attacking a contestant, after which Jonathan stepped up and confronted Joe. Joe then put Jonathan in a headlock.[5] WWE wrestler and The Real World contestant Mike "The Miz" Mizanin broke up the fight.[6"

Oh my gosh, I've been re-watching TAR from the beginning on and off this year, and I'm in season 6, now. I forgot just how awful the contestants' behavior could be in those earlier seasons. And I forgot about a lot of the teams until I saw them on screen again. But my gosh, season 6 I think was the worst for the sheer number of horrible teams. There was one older couple, and one younger couple that were fine, but there were 5 other couple teams that were just hideous to one another and Jonathan & Victoria were one of those. I looked it up and all 5 of those couples wound up breaking up or divorcing at some point, and I wasn't surprised, although I was shocked that a few lasted a few more years before splitting.

Just finished last night's episode. I love how joyful Carson and Jack are on the race. When Jack found out he got to dress up like a knight, he said no fewer than 4 times *This is the best day of my life!* They did so well on this leg and came in first. We were so happy! Jonathan and Ana got lost because Jonathan was navigating but he still blamed her for getting lost. He was so horrible to her at the train station and wouldn't let it go ~ kept talking over her again and again for cutting in front of him in line or something stupid like that.
Holden and Han came in second and it looked like Jonathan and Ana would finish the *tile* challenge before Aleshia and Joshua until Jonathan broke one of their tiles. Then the screen said TO BE CONTINUED!! Hopefully we'll watch the finale tomorrow night. I wonder what kind of penalty for breaking the tile. I hope it disqualifies them.

Even after the MoM and I talked about last night being the finale, once I got home I forgot all about it. I was busy doing this and that and once I sat down to eat I was watching the Martha Stewart cooking show. Then about 8, I realized Top Chef was on and turned to that. Danngit! Guess I'll pull it up on Prime and watch it while I work this morning.

We just watched the finale. We were thrilled with the results. We can't figure out why Jonathan made Ana do that walking on water challenge. He knows she's afraid of deep water. And we were surprised there was no penalty for him breaking that tile.
Overall a good season despite Jonathan's treatment of Ana.

And we were surprised there was no penalty for him breaking that tile. Overall a good season despite Jonathan's treatment of Ana. DH & I theorized that the reason Ana wound up doing that challenge was that, once again, a team showed up at a task and failed to take even a moment to consider what might be happening before they decided who would do it. (Kind of like the drum challenge earlier in the season.) They saw "soar" and believed prior to arriving at the location that it would be a height thing. But if they had stopped and looked at their surroundings for a minute I think they may have questioned that assumption. But instead they ripped the clue open, Jonathan immediately made the choice that she was doing it, and off she went, because what he says is the law. The previous roadblock got all the teams evened up in terms of roadblocks, which is why several teams were told which member had to do the archery challenge, so this time they could have made the choice best for their team, but they just didn't even take a minute to think about it. I will say, in fairness, his reaction when she returned was the best behavior I saw of him all race long.

I was bummed when they won their way into the finale, and fast forwarded through most of their exchanges during it b/c my teeth can't take any more grinding LOL. But SO glad they came in 3rd! I liked both the other finalist teams. Would have been happy for either of them that won.

We were very happy with the results. And would’ve been happy with Han and Holden too. Anybody but Jonathan and Ana. He was particularly horrible in the last few episodes except for when she finally finished that challenge. We still aren’t clear how they managed to catch up and get into the finale. They were so far behind. And also wondered why there wasn’t a penalty for breaking the tile.
With the exception of them, it was a good season.

My thoughts about the tile is that the task was simply to get the tiles on the wall in the proper order. No mention of them being in one piece. If they had somehow lost one, or shattered one to dust, then perhaps that would have been a different story.

I am thrilled who won! They really enjoyed the race, were kind to each other and the teamates and were just fun to watch. You could tell Phil loved them too.
I am happy that Han and Holden made second. They ran a really good race and I think they learned to communicate better with one another. I can’t believe more accidents don’t happen especially in foreign countries but I guess most of the time there, they take taxis.
I despise Jonathan like many of you do, but I was impressed (which is sad to say really) the way he treated Ana after the soar challenge. To overcome a trauma like that must’ve been very hard. I don’t understand other how they were able to catch up to Alyssa and Josiah unless they really got lost driving to the train station. Ana have Jonathan a lot of grace at the mat. She never talked to him the way he did to her. I read that he is now saying he is autistic (recently diagnosed) so that’s why he came across like that. Um, no! You’re a big baby who has a big ego and wasn’t happy unless he was in the lead. There was one episode near the end where he pouted the whole time. Ana is seriously an angel to deal with him.

It annoys me that he blames his behavior on his recent diagnosis, especially with the crap RFk has been spewing lately about autism.
And especially after season 33 (?) where Penn Holderness used the race to educate people about ADHD in such a positive manner. Now we have Jonathan taking a season's worth of terrible behavior and blaming it on ASD. It's just not cool in my opinion.

I read an article that said there was a bad storm in Miami during the final that shut down production for a few days. I wonder if when they started back up again the reset allowed everyone to start closer together.
