I would love some updates. Like elaine how are you feeling after the round of steroids? I hope better. I have been praying for you! putabuttononit (I hope I got that right) How is your daughter's boyfriend Kody doing? I hope he is in counseling and healing. There's so many others. Please update what's been going on. It doesn't matter if it's great or small.

I don't remember who started the thread, but there was one about a very nice guitar that was given to a teenager. The guitar may have come from a homeless man and his son... something along those lines.

Thank you so much for asking! Treatment #5 was yesterday, 7 more to go. The steroids are awful - they leave me feeling wired and irritable for the first few days, and then on Saturday I crash and have a hard time getting out of bed for 24 hours as my body tries to make up for the sleep I missed. I finally hit on Ambien CR to help me sleep on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, so I can get 4 hours of sleep those nights now. I'm trying not to pick too many fights on the Internet or here at home. The swelling on my eyes hasn't gone down yet, but it hasn't continued to get worse, which is great! They also are much less watery, so I don't look like I just finished a tear-jerker at any given time during the day. Mostly just morning and night. The double vision is still the same. I've been working with endocrinology during this phase of treatment, I will go back to opthamoloy at the beginning of June to discuss other parts of treatment that they will want to do once the disease is no longer active - I.e. Radiation to shrink the inflamed tissue, surgery to remove parts of my eye sockets to make more room for my eyes and get them back in place to cure the double vision. I am fortunate that I receive my treatment at Walter Reed, because I have constant reminders in the form of wounded warriors that what I am going through is really not all that bad. Certainly nothing like what so many deal with.

It was pastlifepea 's thread. She has not been back to this site since then though. I hope all is well with her. Sorry to hear you are dealing with the steroid effects, elaine. I had similar effects when I took them in high doses for chemo. Actually, I have similar effects even when I take them for asthma, but the mega doees were the worst. Another day or two of Ambien CR might help. (Well, not day! LOL)

I would like to know what happened with the cat who had been adopted and the vet tech said it had a home after the op had paid for vet care and had been taking care of it for months, despite the supposed original owners saying it had been missing for a much shorter time. I hope she just kept the cat and made it an indoor kitty!

I have never taken sleeping meds before, but after literally getting an hour of sleep per day for a couple of days per week the first two weeks, I was begging my doctor for something. I don't want to become dependent on them, so am trying to limit my use to only the first couple of nights after each treatment. My poor family - I am normally the even- tempered one, and I am much more irritable and verbal about what annoys me these days. My Dh will be glad when the steroids are over!

I totally may have missed an update on this one...and if so, I apologize up front...but did we ever find out if the pea who wanted her in-laws to babysit at her house ever actually left the kids and went to the wedding? And where did the babysitting take place if she did?

I am fortunate that I receive my treatment at Walter Reed, because I have constant reminders in the form of wounded warriors that what I am going through is really not all that bad. Certainly nothing like what so many deal with. It's incredibly humbling, isn't it? I received care in the Wounded Warrior Center for vertigo. I was a teaching case, as the initial issue (sphenoid sinus infection) is extremely rare. Every session, I would have OT, PT, drs, etc observing as I was forced to get dizzy time and again and try not to vomit. I can honestly say that the thought that I was helping someone else, and maybe a soldier, is what kept me going a lot of days. I'm glad they are controlling your symptoms better. Hopefully this will soon become a thing of the past.

I was just really stressed about leaving the kids for the first time.

Skellinton the kitty was me! We still have him and he's the sweetest little thing on four paws. His owners have not been to look for him and I've had no further contact with that vet. He's continued to thrive and is hardly recognisable as the scraggly little cat I found in the garden. Thank you for asking

You have such a great attitude. Hugs and healing vibes coming your way.

I'll update my mega thread.
My mom called me on that next Monday morning and had me talk to her lawyer, so dh and I decided to just let mom get what she wanted. Dh and I are at peace that we did everything in our power to help my mom. She doesn't deserve me, and she hasn't called me since. I'm so over her. Our relationship will never be the same. I really don't even think Michelle can still argue that my mom loves me because her actions are yelling so loud.
I am thinking about finding my birth father. I'm not sure he knows I exist. My mom felt really jealous about me having relationships with my bio family, but I don't care what she thinks.

I've updated before but will give a quick one here...
My dh fell off of a roof two years ago this week and spent 4 weeks in the hospital, two of those in ICU in a coma due to aspiration pneumonia, and two weeks in rehab learning to walk again. We had been married five months when this happened. In the first week after he came home I was diagnosed with stage IIb breast cancer.
DH has made as full of a recovery as a now almost 68 year old could expect after so much trauma. He's doing really well and is a happy and devoted husband who writes me a love note and puts it in my lunch (which he prepares) every day! I had surgery, chemo, and radiation and am doing great! I've been back at work full time for a year this week!
We're both happy to be alive and appreciate life so much more these days!

I am glad to see all of the updates, particularly glad when health-related ones report progress. On a lighter note, I would love to know about the seahorse baby raising Pea; apologies for not remembering her Peaname.

I know no one asked but you're probably all dying to know... after 4 mos missing my period came yesterday, only 5 days past when it should've according to my pills. I, of course, was working on a habitat for humanity build when I felt it, so I got the lovely experience of repeatedly changing tampons in a port-o-potty (even tho i was only there 4 hours, because of course it was heavy). and then trying to artfully wrap the tampons to disguise them because it was "women work!" day and how stereotypical would it be for the regular guys to return after said day, and find their toilet full of tampons? FML.

I'll update on my Uncle. He's been at home for 2-3 weeks now. He had some complications with pseudo cysts and had to go back on a liquid diet for a short bit. His TPN (Total parenteral nutrition- Intravenous feeding tube) was removed yesterday and he was able to have a half of a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner last night. So, after having a 30% chance of survival, he is doing great! Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers.

And ashley - do you know what you're going to do with your life yet? No, I do not. Currently: DH and I are both looking for jobs. He's applied for some, I've applied for some. Long term: I have no freaking clue, still. I have a few things I'm thinking about but none of it really seems like a calling and I guess that's what I'm missing in my life.
