I just moved all my scrapbooking supplies and tools to the basement so we can get new flooring and paint on the LR level of our house. I KNEW I had a lot of stuff, but sheesh, when you have to actually move it all you really see it.
I still have to box up the stuff in my armoire (or Archiver's, as DH refers to it!).
I'm going to attempt to purchase nothing but adhesives until January 1.
Anyone want to join me?

I've been on a no-buy since January of this year. The first little while was hard, but now I'm not even tempted by all of the sale emails I get. I started going through my stash and realize how much great stuff I have.

I don't really want to join you but I probably could....can I have an exception for my kit clubs? I'll play along if it's a 50 or 100 pages until I can buy anything challenge!

Should I, YES, do I want to NO! It is sickening sometimes when I look at all the stuff I've collected. Good luck to you!

I'm in! I have been pretty good lately with "shopping my stash" and I haven't bought patterned paper in a long time. I have bought the odd piece of cardstock when I just couldn't make something else work though. Today however I went to Michaels and Winners and found a couple of things (PL albums at $12.99) So! That's it! I might amend the nothing but adhesive to include the odd piece of cardstock though. Let's see how long we all hold out. LOL.

If I had to move my stuff, I'm sure I would be joining you. I have a LOT. But until that time, I'll be living in ignorant bliss, slowly using, donating, and buying as I go. Just too much cute stuff to say a blanket NO but I have definitely slowed down this year already.

If I decided to join you I wouldn't even have to buy adhesive! I went a little wild using Michael's coupons to buy ATG refills and I have other adhesives as well.

I haven't bought anything since Aug 20 last year. I just checked my account at ACOT. I won't say never but it won't be for a while.

We are getting ready to move later this year. Since we will probably be paying our own moving costs and going from the east coast to Texas, I am going to have to do some purging of my scrapping stuff. I have started to give away some stuff, but have more to go through. My scrapping buddies seem quite happy to take my cast-offs, and my DDIL took a bunch when they came for a visit.
Purging in preparation to move has really killed the incentive for me to buy anything more. I have plenty of adhesive, so I have no excuse to buy anything at all for a very, very long time.

I might do this for the summer because I want to buy some dishes in the new Fiesta colors. Not sure if I can stay away from TM that long! I have an ACOT preorder waiting, so I can probably avoid that for a while. It's time I showed some scrappy restraint!

I was going to start a thread about the same thing. I recently asked for ideas to help design my new craft room. The furniture is now in and I have been organizing. I have enough supplies to last a really, really long time, so I will join in. Honestly, Archivers closing has probably been the best thing for me and I gave up most of my kit clubs the end of last year because I had a feeling it was getting out of control.

I went to my LSS today to buy a few pieces of graduation paper. Well $72 dollars later I had that paper and much more. Maybe someday I will be on a spending freeze. I could scrap for years and not need a thing. I think I have 25-30 rolls of ATG tape along with just as many adhesive rollers with dots. I like to be prepared.

Pretty paper is my Achilles heel... you and me both, sister! pretty pretty double sided paper from Websters Pages or textured paper from Authentique or Carta Bella.... Authentique has a really cute line out called Playful. It has great quotes (Dr. Suess) and gorgeous colors. I am doing a few graduation papers with this line. I realize I am not helping the cause here.

I highly suspect that our real hobby is not scrapbooking, but collecting supplies. Just having something cute in my possession is a win for me! But, I promise to start working more on the actual scrapbooking part!

..."I like to be prepared."
Me, too. The thought of running out of my favorite adhesives is enough to make me break out in hives
ETA - I don't know how I messed up the quote above...

Having moved within the last year, I totally understand OP. I'm just now coming to a usable set up in my new space. So not only boxing it up to move, set it up, use it, decide yuck, take it down, reset it up.... whew! I just went through all my pattern papers and purge those that I didn't love or have use for. There is a facebook group called 50 projects that is dedicated to not buying supplies. They call it 50 projects, but you really set your own terms for what you want. They are very supportive. Although I haven't been actively setting goals for over a year. --So I could totally use some group incentive.

But, I promise to start working more on the actual scrapbooking part! My husband says this a lot. This year I finished 150ish pages by May 1st. At the beginning of this year I had 10 albums that I was in the middle of creating. I finished 5 of them. I like to think that I do both, but yes, collecting supplies brings me lots of joy. Now I need to finish my other five albums. Oh, and the years of 2000-2009.

Count me in! Well, starting Monday (June 8) as I am taking a little trip this weekend and might actually get to see some scrappy goodness in person. I was doing really well, only getting my Cocoa Daisy kit each month but for the past month, I have been buying and buying. No more!! My spending exceptions would be my CD kits (I have killed every one so far!) adhesive, albums and page protectors and I may need gesso or Mod Podge at some point. On the positive side, I have completed almost 150 layouts so far this year and my kits are literally down to nothing well before the next one arrives. I may need a weekly (ok, daily) check in to stay accountable. Thank you, Mikklynn, for throwing down the gaunlet. It is easier to get through these challenges when others are "suffering" along with you.
