I agree, it was pretty crappy not to at least give us a few days head's up so we could regroup. But not surprised. Typical of how they ran their business.

They could have handled it so much better. I found them originally because someone mentioned the message board to me so I checked it out. That was how I found them or I would have never purchased anything.

I wonder if they did this new board a favour - can you imagine the discussions, suggestions, facebook, no, not facebook, possible splinter groups that would have emerged from a drawn out closedown. The way it was done, I think, has made this board strong from the get go. We were all so pleased a find a new home so quickly.

It would have been a huge shit storm, probably thousands of emails, Since they're still open for business, I presume anyone can still send them an email. I'm not surprised they did it like this, they weren't nice people to start with so being crappy at the end is par for the course. However, I also concede that this might have been the best way to do it. Peas have always been resourceful, and proved so with someone getting this board up, the various FB pages etc. I think we'll all be fine...maybe better than ever

I think shutting down the boards without warning could seriously mess up some swaps or trades. When you think you have access to contacts readily you don't always save it somewhere else.

I was surprised too, but then I looked at a calendar and saw that July 10th (last day it will be available) is two weeks away. It could be that for whatever reason, they need to close it all out by 7/10 and needed a two-week window of no posting activity to finalize other website stuff?

I think shutting down the boards without warning could seriously mess up some swaps or trades. When you think you have access to contacts readily you don't always save it somewhere else. That was my thought as well. It wasn't the way I've seen other scrap boards close. I've been on several that closed and they all gave some sort of notice. I'm pretty sure one even closed the FSOT board first, then began to close the others, so that no new swaps or trades would be set up.

It makes me sad for them. I'm sure it was an FU and while I do think it wasn't right, it was completely understandable. I believe the majority of people are good, but we all know there are some scary, scary people out there. They go completely nuts over things that shouldn't matter. Unfortunately, they are often the most vocal group out there. I'm sure they had just had it.
I bought from them in the beginning, but they misrepresented things a couple of times and the shipments were sloppy.
Plus, I really love that there is a LIKE button here!

Considering that 2Peas has been an important part of our lives for over a decade, I found the sudden shut down to really offend me. I believe it was the biggest scrapbooking board in the industry. It's almost sad that the owners demonstrated such disrespect to the core customers of the industry.

I was saddened that they didn't give us notice, but I also I understand why. They have given all of us, untold numbers, a completely free place congregate, talk, cry, laugh, make friends (and a few enemies), share ideas, and solve the worlds problems for the last 14 years. I choose to say "thank you" to them, for being a part of my life, even though I didn't support their business, ever, with my money. And for that I do feel a wee bit guilty. But I haven't touched my scrapping since 08, so.....

A bit sad, perhaps, but not surprised. It was obvious something was going on (almost no new product in the store for months except exclusives), and not shutting down the message board would probably caused the server to crash. Still, it would have been nice to be given time to regroup before they shut it down.

I think it was rotten to not give people a chance to say goodbye. And so many people will have no idea how to find us here. Just sucks all around.

Not surprised at all. They always demonstrated contempt for the message boards. Shady is probably the best way to describe the shut down.

I think it sucked to the way they did it... but who am I to them. nothing. I didn't order much because shipping was just so dang expensive. Because one sweet pea gifted me a gift certificate, I did use that.. otherwise other than a few orders back when shipping was normal, I did order.

I agree with you, Lynn. I will say I DID try to support them in the very beginning. I made quite a few orders, but got sick of everything being out of stock every time I tried to order, and I eventually gave up.

I think it's just the way they did business. I don't think they were thinking about their customers, I think they were thinking about what's best for them.
I just wonder why Kristina purchased 2peas back? Weren't they in trouble before and that's why the sold it? Seems like it just came full circle and we ended up with the inevitable.

I didn't follow the business practices of 2ps. I never ordered from them and whatnot, but I noticed how some things were handled on the boards and I'm not surprised. Besides...this is NSBR, should we ever be surprised at drama?

I don't know that I can say I was totally surprised because of all the threads the last few months speculating about it happening. TPTB were conspicuously silent about it, so that was also a clue. I certainly don't like the way it was done and I definitely was not mentally prepared for it to really happen. The whole thing was just really weird, but weird seemed to be SOP over there.

Not the least bit surprised. They were silent and sudden about every change they made to the boards and frankly, Jeff White was one of the most arrogant people I've seen on-line.

I guess I didn't pay that much attention to how arrogant Jeff was, except for his responses after the site changed their look. Like everyone else I did notice how slow it had gotten and I hated logging in after working all day and noticing the same threads on the first page that were there in the morning. Any other examples of how rude and arrogant they were? Just being nosy. To answer the question and due to my lack of paying attention, I was surprised that they shutdown so abruptly and without leaving the boards open - even for a couple of days. I was aware enough how they responded to criticism though, so I can understand why they did it that way.

I think that people have very long memories and should Kristina and Jeffrey ever decide to venture into a business again in the future, they have burned a LOT of bridges by pulling the shit they pulled with their Two Peas busiiness. A lot of people will remember how they conducted themselves in this situation, and while many will absolutely "be over it", they won't have forgotten it. K & J have proven that, at the very least they are bad business owners and at worst...well, I won't go there I just think they should have and could have handled the shutdown in a much better way...one that would ensure a measure of goodwill should they need it in the future.

Not really but still unhappy about it. They really had such a phenomenal business potential and market but they never figured out how to capitalize on it in the right way. And they were never part of the "peas" - there was always an uneasy tension and sometimes outright hostility. I expect they are exhausted and heartbroken and scared about what comes next so this was not the time they were going to start dealing with the peas in a different, more respectful way.

They never ran their store well. I stopped shopping there because they never had anything. If they actually could have managed the business side, they might have survived.

I was upset initially, but realized that if they gave notice, it would have created too many issues and crashed the bandwidth of the board. I think that they would have been much better off to keep the store/board in their name and bring on business people to help run it for a share instead of selling rights. That's when Peas started getting upset and leaving.

I don't see why they didn't leave the boards up since the store is still open for a few more days. It just goes to show it really was a big "Screw You" to the mb community (aka, their customers!). I used to buy from them early on, but shipping was expensive and things were out of stock, so I just gave up.

I was trying to log in from my phone and it wouldn't work...just thought my phone was messing up! Got on facebook and saw the announcement on the Project Life group! My first though was SWEET TINY JAMIE WTF! Thought that was a really crappy way to close it down! So happy to see everyone re-grouped here! Wonder how much I could get for my vintage 2004 Two Peas green t-shirt on ebay LOL!

I emailed them and actually got an answer! It had nothing to do with the abrupt nature of the close-down, though. I responded with "but what about my questions?". I haven't checked yet for another response.
there was plenty of controversy on NSBR, and maybe they just completely distanced themselves from that.
I have purchased a few things in the store. I do understand that the store was their focus, their way of making a living.
nice to see a few familiar names and faces!
