I'm not surprised that they did it this way.
I don't know how the legality of a business going bankrupt works in the US ( I'm guessing that's more than likely what's happened) but over here in the UK if a creditor calls in a debt then the Official receiver walks into the business and shuts everything down that is going to cost that business any more money, immediately.
In 2 peas case, that would be the bandwidth used for the message board. Not needed, extra expense with no revenue coming in to cover it...out it goes! If they're already in debt with their payment for the bandwidth used then the adverts might not be enough to cover it.
They're only keeping the rest of the website open to get rid of the stock ( assets) I would imagine, so they can pay something to their creditors.
That's just a guess at what's happened. I might be totally wrong.

Hallelujah! I found everyone!!! I fell in to a depression yesterday when I could not read up on all the goings-on over there at the "other" TP.
Just now got this account & have to put the groceries away, but will be back to check on everyone!

I emailed them and actually got an answer! It had nothing to do with the abrupt nature of the close-down, though. I responded with "but what about my questions?". I haven't checked yet for another response. there was plenty of controversy on NSBR, and maybe they just completely distanced themselves from that. I have purchased a few things in the store. I do understand that the store was their focus, their way of making a living. nice to see a few familiar names and faces! Lindy, you got more than I did. I emailed them this morning when I realized what was going on, and haven't heard a thing. *crickets* (Hey, I like the way this quote thing works.)

I am not surprised, but I am angry about it. Mostly I am angry that they didn't give the GG's any notice. THAT is unforgiveable in my opinion.

it was pretty crappy how they did everything.. but us on the swap board quickly rounded everyone up and have a Facebook page going. All swaps have moved over there and all but a couple of Peas have been located and followed us. So it did end up working out. Plus we are liking the new format.

Shimelle's (www.shimelle.com) latest post lists all the current GG's along w/ their blogs to bookmark. In the heyday it's crazy to think there used to be 50 GG's, before they shut down it was only 13.

It caught me totally by surprise. I did not see it coming at all. The ads didn't bother me, in fact I clicked on one recently to make a purchase. I do feel the way it happened was designed to prevent any harsh comments.

I don't get how 2Ps would be worried about harsh comments? I mean, heck they are closed down. Not going to influence their profit or customers. They HAD to know that we would be ALLLL over the net, and FB commenting on the quick, and unfriendly shut down. Plus Ps have commented that they have emailed them, So they ARE still getting LOTS of emails I bet. And I am sure some are prettttty nasty. They could have kept the comments on the boards, and just not looked. Must have something to do with shutting down their server?

I was shocked. Found out on FB and was like "WTH??". Glad you all started up this board. I hadn't been posting much on 2peas lately but had been lurking still everyday. I promise to try and be a better poster/board member on this one!

Geez! You think they would have given us a little bit of notice before they shut down!

I don't think their server could have handled all the traffic. Heck, it couldn't handle all the traffic on a good day!
Some notice would have been nice, but I am not surprised. Their FB, Pinterest, Instagram accounts all went "poof" too.

I have lurked for many, many years and never posted. I was very sad when I found the NSBR board all shut down.. I have learned so much from all of you. As far as supporting Two Peas I didn't ....everything overpriced and it would have cost a mint to have anything shipped. So no I'm not surprised they closed. Glad to find the new home.

I'm not surprised they did it like this, they weren't nice people to start with so being crappy at the end is par for the course. This.

Yeah, toward the end, they were more cold and didn't seem to give a damn about the message boards. In my heart, I was hoping they would stay around forever, but I guess I should have known better. I'm sure they are getting tons of terrible emails. It would have been better if they notified us ahead of time.

I was very shocked that it was completely shut down with out warning, but I think we all kinda knew it would happen eventually. I remember there being threads about "where would you go if two peas closed". Since their customer service was never top notch, it isn't overly surprising their going out of business was a big f you to the message board users.

I hope that through the posts about how crappy their business practices were, they see the messages about how much we loved 2peas and the boards and are sad to see them go.

Yep I think it was pretty shitty to just shut the boards down mid-day. Not too classy of a move in my opinion.

If they did have to shut down the mb due to bankruptcy / creditors / other businessy stuff that I'm not aware of, it would have been so easy to add a quick sentence to their FAQ page and the home page of the website explaining that.
But I'm with the folks who have said that the sudden shutdown is probably a blessing in disguise. It forced us all to rally to a single location without dithering.

I'm not at all surprised with the fact that they shut down nor am I surprised in how they did it. Par for the course, it seems.

Yes, very shocked and surprised. I guess I feel like although they didn't owe us anything, it was a bit of betrayal to do it so suddenly.

My daughter's 4th grade teacher left suddenly in the middle of the day two weeks before summer break. Just yelled at the class and walked out. I never heard what prompted it, but I assume that something catastrophic must have happened in her life for her to not be able to cope any longer.
So, I guess I sort of assume the same with the Whites. I think they most likely had to shut it down right then. And so aside from my initial "What the crap?!" response, I can't really feel too angry about it. They just lost their business. Sucks.
