After all these years to just lock down the boards in the middle of the day with no warning seems harsh. Do you think they are a little bitter that we did not support them enough to keep them in business?

I agree. I thought it would have been nice to let people start connecting before they shut down. They were going out of business so I don't see how it would have mattered to them.

No they were stupid to begin with. Look how the store was set up. It was run poorly and it is no surprise to anyone that they shut down they way they did.

Well, it sure as heck surprised me!
Most stores give you some notice before they just close down the good parts of the store.

Surprised when it happened, looking back, not surprised they did it that way. It seems to be very them.

I think the way they did it, was nasty, and mean. They knew what they were doing. How many other scrapbook sites have others been on, that announced it? and let their message boards cont? A lot of us came from dMarie. They were classy about it. I would love to hear the behind the scenes talk, and I bet it was not pretty.

TBH, not really. It seems that a fair amount of scrapbook companies have had very abrupt endings in the last few years, so no this isn't a shock to me.
CHA is a shadow of its former self and companies are dwindling. So again, this doesn't shock me.
And let's face it, a lot of us stopped buying or never bought anything at all. We were just using the place for their message board. A lot of posters didn't a crap about supporting them financially, so ultimately, why would they care about us, ya know? The writing was on the wall that the end was coming without them coming out and saying it.
Am I defending them? No. Absolutely not. Just not shocked at all given the circumstances.

It is hard to buy from them when they were always sold out. However, I will admit I haven't scrapped for years so maybe that changed. ??

I'm not surprised they shut down, they were always just a little too sensitive to criticism.

Very surprised. This was obviously in the works for some time, it wouldn't have cost them anything to give users some notice so that they could tie up loose ends on the boards.

I figured it was due to not wanting to hear the negative remarks.

While I am surprised that it happened....once they made the decision to shut, I'm not surprised that they did it like this. It would have been a huge shit storm, probably thousands of emails, multiple threads on multiple boards would have crucified them and their decision. They are closing every part of the business for good, they don't need the 'goodwill' they don't need to keep potential future customers happy, just having it over and done with on one day with no warning saved them infinite amounts of trouble.
This is how many businesses do things these days. I work in a large multifaceted business, a month ago they decided to restructure one major area and everyone worked as normal on Mon and Tues and on Wed HR reps were in the office and told about 50 people they were being made redundant. Apart from the top level managers, no-one had a clue what was about to happen.

I'm not surprised they shut down this way at all given the way they do business But it still saddens me that any small company goes out of business.

I think they should have given at least a couple of days notice so that we could re-group and announce it to more people. I'm very impressed with whoever took the time to set this board up so quickly, and how many of us have found it already. I think word is spreading pretty quickly. And look how many posts have started in just a day.

I was surprised, but looking back it does make sense. I just figured if they closed they wouldn't care what we said about them

I agree with Rhondito. That and they were too chicken shit to deal with people bitching them out. I always thought the owners were arrogant and didn't much care about the board users. And enough of us shopped there to help them make it big during the boon days. A little reverse loyalty would have been nice.

I'm not surprised the store shut down. However, with the advent of ads on the boards, I would have hoped they could have kept the boards going at least a few more weeks on ad revenue. They wouldn't even have to hear the whining if the didn't moderate it.

I said this on a thread on GS and will say it again here....
I think its very indicative of their business practices that they could leave open the store for us to give them money, but they couldn't give us any amount of time to get closure. I think it was a combo of FU to everyone who didn't buy and they didn't want to hear anything negative. I can sympathize but I will not ever say it was right.
I think that if they would have handled this one last thing properly that for every 1 nasty comment or post about them closing, they would have received 5 comments about how much we love 2peas and how sorry we are that this was happening.
The way that they dismissed even the GG is so strange to me that it feels like something sticky was going on.

No, not really. With the store not being updated, you could kinda see it coming.
A lurker from the old board, that does not want to be one here.

I figured it was due to not wanting to hear the negative remarks. That's got to be it. They closed up all the social media accounts at the same time. They clearly did not want to hear anything - good or bad. I guess I can understand that, to a degree. I am sure Kristina and Jeff poured their hearts and souls into this over the years. Shuttering a family business is an emotional decision and maybe they just couldn't deal with the second guessing. I don't *agree* with how they did it, but I can also understand why they did it they way they did.
