leftturnonly, I wondered the same re: 2Peas videos on YT. I wasn't sure if YT has different type of memberships for businesses which you have to pay for. If it is completely free, then I'd hope 2Peas won't delete them. I think Custom Crops is now out of business and all of their videos are still on YT.

My daughter's 4th grade teacher left suddenly in the middle of the day two weeks before summer break. Just yelled at the class and walked out. I never heard what prompted it, but I assume that something catastrophic must have happened in her life for her to not be able to cope any longer. So, I guess I sort of assume the same with the Whites. I think they most likely had to shut it down right then. And so aside from my initial "What the crap?!" response, I can't really feel too angry about it. They just lost their business. Sucks. Good perspective, that's how I'll remember it. For them. I don't think I'll ever forget the past couple of days of thousands of people suddenly wandering the webs searching for a touchbase, though.

I thought that perhaps something happened personally for them and that they just suddenly pulled the plug! I am feeling kind of distant, but I am sure I will get over it!

Love, love, love your picture! You are beautiful!!!!
Honestly I have no idea why they did it the way they did. I am not in a position to do so. I can speculate all day but I don't know their circumstances or what led them to that decision.

I don't have ill will towards the Whites, but...
The way things were done was terrible, and as one poster said, they've burned a lot of bridges. I no longer need scrap supplies, so how could I support their business? Also, if I found out that they started another business, I certainly wouldn't patronize it.
I hope that they find a way to recover from this, but I just wouldn't want to be a customer or part of any business that they had.

I was sad when I went on two peas on Wednesday and realized they shut down the boards. I think that they could have kept the boards open for a couple of days to give people closure and find a way to re-connect. I am so happy Sarah opened the FB group and I found it - otherwise I would have been so lost w/o my pea friends.

I know it's none of our business but it would be kind of nice to get some answers as to what went wrong. It's like a relationship ending & I need closure. When 2Peas used to do the weekly videos from the warehouse it looked like they had a thriving business. Not sure when the White's took over as owners again but that could be when all their financial trouble started.

OMG, seriously?? It's a message board, no-one died, way to over dramatize it.
I also don't understand this idea that they "owe" anyone anything. It was a free board, the majority of people posting didn't in anyway contribute to the financial vibility of the site. It is their business and they can do with it as they please. Why should they owe a bunch of strangers that they have been giving a free service to for years anything? It was nice while it lasted...now it's gone & everyone needs to move on.

And people finding their way here after Googling if they weren't sent a link by someone. Check the member numbers. I haven't overdramatized anything. Maybe it read that way to you, and that's fine. I didn't mean it to be dramatic, so just chill. I'm actually really impressed by how fast this was set up and how many people have just found their way here without having any way to have set it up while there was still the central meeting site.

My opinion is that they could have shown a different attitude to the people who drew in what business they did receive. Just because it makes good business sense doesn't mean I, or anyone else, have to like it. They don't care what I think. You don't need to either. :-)

Well you needed to phrase it differently then, that bit I quoted reads like "you'll never forgive them for thousands of people wandering lost and aimless through the internet for one day"
I'm not getting the lamenting over the old site...that was a message board, and this one has very rapidly taken it's place. It's just a website, one site closes...another one opens and there's email, and facebook etc and it's day two and a huge chunk of people are here already.
If that's what you meant...then I agree with you.
As for your second post, sure, it would have been "nice" of them to handle the closure differently...but many posters here actually seem to think they were "owed" better treatment because they posted there for so long. If anything the posters there for the last 15 or so years probably owed them something for providing the free MB for as long as they did.

Geeeesh. Who cares what she meant exactly? I agree with her. To a lot of Ps it's more then a message board. It obviously is to you also Pjay or you wouldn't be over here already. Just quite being such a hardass and be a bit sentimental. Or don't diss on those that feel differently. Those of us that were there 15+ yrs are probably what KEPT them going. We were the scrapbookers that kept that site going. Not just using their free MB. We were the traffic that made that site the #1 site.

How does joining a new version of the message board and posting on it make it "more than a message board" to me? That doesn't even make sense. It was a MB I posted on when it had a different URL...and it's still a MB with the same people...and now it has a new URL.
I've already said I enjoy the reading thread and discussing Survivor and TAR here but I also enjoyed talking about a couple of TV shows at TWoP, that site is gone too and I didn't have a meltdown about one that either.
Only if you spent money in the store. The Scrapping board probably kept their business alive, but from threads posted over there in the past it didn't seem like too many NSBR posters still scrapped, let alone brought any product from them. My last purchase was well over 5 years ago.
