These parents, they disgust me. No their dd's don't think they were molested or violated, their parents told them way back then that they weren't. Jennifer I was violated by an older neighbor boy. I had no idea it was bad or illegal at the time, just that it wasn't something I was comfortable with I didn't realize how wrong it was until I was a teen.

OMG...I want to punch Michelle..."their daughters' trust was betrayed" by whoever let the report out...Get a clue..YOU BETRAYED THEM.. In my head I was saying, "Now this is where Megyn says, 'But you betrayed their trust when this happened!' "

I really liked how they kept saying things like "After this was resolved..." and "After this was taken care of...".
Please.

OMG...I want to punch Michelle..."their daughters' trust was betrayed" by whoever let the report out...Get a clue..YOU BETRAYED THEM.. That was the worst betrayal for sure. But there is a backstory. Someone went to In Touch and tipped them off as to the existence of these police reports. If they were in fact sealed, then I hope the victims sue. The release of this information has only victimized them again. This idea that the victims are further victimized by people knowing bothers me. Why? They have nothing to be ashamed of. We don't keep the identity of theft victims secret to protect them. The belief that we need to shield victims of sex crimes from people knowing adds to the idea that there is something shameful in being victimized in this way and that's wrong. I don't feel like it's supportive or helpful.

Nope. Can't do it. One minute watching, several creepy looks exchanged, softball questions and sympathetic tone from Meghan Kelly and I'm done. Not wasting my time watching their ridiculous explanations and excuses.

I didn't watch all of it.
Can someone please explain how/why they think the release of the repot was illegal? Do they have an explanation for why the Freedom of Information Act wouldn't apply to this report?

I lied. I kept watching.
Did Michelle say the records were released due to a lesbian agenda? I really, really think she said lesbian agenda.
And the wine hasn't even kicked in yet.

Reports with no arrest - not sealed Reports leading to an arrest of a minor - sealed I predicted in the other thread that this interview would end up being about how JimBob, Michelle and Josh were the ones actually victimized by liberal agendas.

I hear about protecting the girls, but what about the young boys. I would worry about whether he could have hurt them too. I would be protecting all the children, girls and boys.

And, he wasn't underage at the time the reports were made. If someone was 18 or older (and in some cases 17 is old enough to be tried as an adult), and there was reason to believe he might be currently abusing children, whether there was an arrest or not it wouldn't be sealed.

I don't feel like it's supportive or helpful. I think your view is idealistic. Have you not seen how poor Joshie's life has been turned upside down by this circus? Many people are painting him as the victim and there has been lots of suggestion that the Gothardist movement (or whatever they call themselves) holds women responsible for being a temptation. On one of the other threads there was some BS about babies in diapers...

I don't feel like it's supportive or helpful. Well, as a victim of repeated sexual abuse when I was a teen, I'd have to disagree with you. While I might have nothing to be ashamed of, I don't want the world to know about my personal past. It is my story to tell, if or when I decide to. Sex crimes affect victims very differently than theft or other crimes do. If Josh's crime had been to steal something from a store a couple times when he was a young teen, it wouldn't be the news that this is. Sex crimes leave very private and personal scars, and I should be able to decide who I want to share that with.

I tuned in at about :25 after the hour, so I missed a big chunk. But the end especially just made me want to hurt someone. They basically said that they had the situation handled, and the REAL crime was the (illegal?) release of the records / police report. And where is the outrage in the press about THAT terrible injustice?!?!? Their son's life is being RUINED, everybody! Ruined! Poor Josh! Let's all pass the hat for poor Josh, who committed a crime and everyone found out!
UMMMM.... if your ASSHOLE kid didn't molest his sisters, there wouldn't have been any police report to release!!!!!
They said that "all of the children" received counseling from "professional counselors." How come that wasn't in the police report?!?!? The police report mentioned sketchy home-repair-mentor dude for Josh, but nothing else. How about bringing that professional on to talk about how you assess and treat an adolescent who demonstrates these behaviors?
And don't even get me started on the "Poor us... we're being targeted because of our religion" martyr liberal-agenda crap. No, you're being targeted because YOU KNOWINGLY LET YOUR CHILDREN BE HURT. And you're judgemental, patriarchal assholes.
Let's focus on the real problem here, not the window dressing.

I don't find them credible at all. I've lost any respect I had for Megyn Kelly as a journalist. She isn't pushing back. Specifically, what safeguards? Did your children receive counseling from a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist? For how long? I was glad when they announced an interview with Megyn Kelly, however, she has greatly let me down. I didn't expect her to be mean, but she usually doesn't allow people to dodge questions. Jennifer

Sick, sick, sick. I couldn't watch. If I had to watch and listen to those two slimebags, I'd have had to throw something at the TV. They should be in jail. They kept their children in danger of further sexual abuse.
They honestly think that the criminals (their molester son and them for allowing him to remain around their girls) are victims. Ugh.

jim Bob is such an ass. "Parents aren't mandated reporters". While technically true, it's a douchey reason to let one of your kids molest the others. Douchebaggery.

Someone was being vindictive and they didn't care about the girls involved. I wonder how much they were paid for that info...
as for the legalities, i'll take Megyn's legal opinion on it over that of a pea.
Josh was a juvenile when it happened AND so were the girls!
