This may be far-fetched, but do you think there's any relationship between Paper Person coming back and Studio Calico closing its scrapbooking doors? There is always buzz in the industry, and maybe Kelly saw an opportunity to fill a niche. Thank you, sleepingbooty . Yes, Studio Calico was once an indie brand! I still have some of their papers and embellishments that I bought on sale when Archiver's closed down. That's all I knew about the brand--there was a certain peaceful aesthetic to some of their supplies. I never got into the kits from their online store, just purchased some stamps and digitals here and there, but it's still sad to know there's one less place to get SB supplies. I dont know. I think if she does come back for real (other than just a kit every now and then), I think she will come back under the Inked brand. Kelly has the talent to create products people want. What she lacks is customer service + hands for packing. And Inked can (in theory) do both of those things, sometimes well.Ā Imagine if Geralyn joined in too. Kelly one month, Geralyn the next. Iād be so excited and happy to throw my money at them!

I got my order from beginning October. The stamp set sleepingbooty also got is so cute. Itās the Christmas shop one. I got a couple of the newer documented kits for $8 and they are great. They forgot my black inkpad which is so annoying and on brand. I had to start a convo and of course now itās sold out. They refunded me but also just why do they always miss stuff.

Heads up! Thereās now a $2.99 āshipping insuranceā fee at checkout that you have to opt out of! When did that start? My shipping was $6.66 (ha, not kidding). I don't remember seeing that and can't imagine shipping on what I got to only be $3.67. That's so stupid. I'm glad we won't have to deal with them for much longer. I don't care for the new stuff at all. I can get that kind of stuff anywhere.

Iāve been toying with an order and finally checked out yesterday and noticed it. Itās a toggle button on the payment screen.

I got an email saying they've restocked certain stamp sets.... that doesn't make any sense to me, if they're trying to get away from crafting.

They are keeping the stamp side of the business. I think the stamp subscription is also staying. But it doesn't make sense.

I got an email saying they've restocked certain stamp sets.... that doesn't make any sense to me, if they're trying to get away from crafting. I get the impression that stamps are very profitable. I think theyāre like printing money with stamps. Iāve thought this for awhile, and April pulling the plug on SC *except for stamps* confirmed it.

I broke down and ordered some stamps today. I almost placed an order the other day that had several stamps and just a few other things, nothing heavy. Shipping was almost $12. I didn't place the order and went back in today to look at stuff again. I played around with putting things in my cart and checking how much shipping was. They have an option to add some mystery stickers to your cart for 0.25 cents. Adding those made shipping go up almost $3, definitely not worth it. Full price stamps still ship free, but any of the sale price ones add on shipping costs. The cheapest shipping I saw was $6.66. I couldn't remember everything I had in my cart when the shipping was $12, but I remember thinking that the cost of the shipping was as much as the 30% discount they are offering on the craft category.
Today I left items in my cart and went to another website (Elle's Studio) and when I came back to Studio Calico I got a pop-up that offered a 10% discount to check out now. I don't think they can tell that I went to another website just that I left the cart, but the discount was nice. I ended up with free shipping because I just got the full price stamps. Studio Calico is such an annoying company, but I do like their stamps. Sigh....

1000 pages of April fucking over the once upon a time universally beloved and leading indie PL brand, woohoo, time to party (in hell, I guess š¤šš±)! Now I'm reminiscing on the Studio Calico of old. When your kits came in good quality, really useful zippered plastic / vinyl bags. There was such a variety of different embellishments - wood, felt, fabric, vellum, acetate, and probably more than comes to mind right now. And very little shitty plastic wrap, but lots of cute little glassing bags. Patterned papers that were thick and luscious. And a variety of speciality papers - foiled, embossed, vellums, printed acetates. Each kit was so unique and so much fun to unpack and use. Sigh. I do remember how fun that was. Canāt go home again!

I loved that there were a lot of special, interesting, and unique things. But also that there was collaboration with āindieā or new type designers.
I also really liked the ātasteā of other collections and product lines included in the kits. Really prompted me to try new things/looks/ideas.
I agree though.. you canāt go back home. And that hasnāt been home for a longgggg while lol

Back in the beginning they would sell the twine wrapped around the wooden spools. Man, those were the days.

It makes me wonder about continued access to classes. April said in comments that class access would continue, but I have trouble believing her.

I literally did this last week bc I was worried this might happen Is there an easy way to do this? I just downloaded file by file. Most of mine are stamps. I looked a bit to see if there was a download all option, but I did not see one. Maybe someone else has found a quicker way to do it.

They sent an email stating that digital were going away at the end of the year. I did shop the sale, laughed at the $2.99 shipping insurance for digital downloads and am now downloading all my digital files. I'm hoping that AE doesn't start with the shipping insurance costs but it will probably happen.

I'm sure they'll eventually communicate more about it but first, they need to get you to spend some more money! š¤ As soon as I read the download-before date, I noped out of there. Just the idea of getting everything downloaded, double-checking, categorising all the digi files, zipping them and uploading everything exhausts me. Ugh, Studio Calico, ugh. š

I wanted to post on page 1000 and I missed it, ugh! I'd been watching for weeks but this week has been a crazy one so I was gone for a few days. Oh well, I guess I'll settle for page 1001. I dont know. I think if she does come back for real (other than just a kit every now and then), I think she will come back under the Inked brand. Kelly has the talent to create products people want. What she lacks is customer service + hands for packing. And Inked can (in theory) do both of those things, sometimes well. I have zero insider info, but I don't see this happening. While it makes sense from the perspective you mentioned, Kelly and April are completely opposite politically and politics are very important to Kelly. I don't see her ever partnering with someone like April for those reasons and, I don't know that April would be okay manufacturing such political products that clearly take a side. ETA: I came here when the SC boards shut down, so in the end I can be grateful to them (for screwing everything up) so I could meet all you fine folks. Me too! These boards have been a fun place.

Hey, 1001 is a great number, too! I really thought we'd hit the 1000-page mark years ago, to be honest. This dragged out so long (mirroring Studio Calico's slow death by a thousand paper cuts). I don't see KP joining Inked either. She seems to thrive for certain themed/seasonal products rather than be a storytelling, class-selling force Ć la AE or HS. She's gone private years ago, taken most of her personal documenting offline. Her brand no longer thrives because of her person and cheerleading role. This is clearly an essential part when Inked signs up a brand. It's also the reason I suspect they haven't gone on to sign Paislee Press despite Liz's mini kits selling like hot cakes for quite a few years now. It takes a lot to make a brand successful long term. Inked's game plan just doesn't gel with KP's online presence anymore. I still think a larger seasonal subscription kit rotating designer faves would've worked well. Imagine a larger kit with a 6x8 stamp set, DK mini kit and a class for each season with Paislee Press, In A Creative Bubble and Goldenwood Co. $75-80 per kit. I would've been seriously tempted.

BTW keep a close eye on your totals with the shipping insurance - Iāve had sites that opt you back in if you change your cart and also add it back in on the last page after you log in or select the shipping option or whatever. On some shopping carts Iāve had to remove it 3 or 4 times before I confirm the purchase.

If you're a SC subscriber, past Documenter and Traveler's Notebook kits are $10. I like the new kits with the 6x8 paper, so I picked up three past kits: This Must be the Place, Love is Here, and Simply the Best.
