I posted a few days back a couple of questions regarding international shipping. You guys helped me figure it out, so thanks And a special tanks to impearia who really helped me out with it! I waited aaaaaaall day yeaterday for the Pop Art reveal (I'm in a different time zone, and had to wait till 9 pm for the non-sub reveal). I was really excited about Pop Art, because the sneaks looked really cool! I was actually disappointed with it.... It wasn't at all as I imagined it would be judging by the previews. So I decided to go with Scraptastic for my Scrapbookingkit. They have two kits every month, and you choose the one you like the best and I have to say, that was HARD Both of August's main kits were awesome, and a lot more bang for your buck than you get from SC. Just wanted to post and say thanks for the help, but I didn't end up subbing with SC. And I read the last few pages of this thread, and HOLY HELL! I feel super special to never have had an issue with SC when I had my PL-sub with them! It almost sounds like a dictatorship. 'You dare to question me?? BANNED!' I have to say though, when I did have my SC PL-sub, it used to come in these excellent boxes with a magnetic closure. I had a six month sub, I have five of those puppies in my craftroom waiting to be altered into giftboxes. So sad when I got the sixth kit and it was in a different box.

Well SC could take a leaf out of Meilipaperie's book. I just pre-ordered Pinkfresh Studio's Happy Things Collection from them because they're offering free shipping for pre-orders and I got such a nice note from one of the owners thanking me for my first order and asking for any feedback I might have. I'll definitely be ordering from there again. Great thing is they offer free worldwide shipping for any order over US$50 - such a bonus if you live on this side of the world! That's great! It's amazing what's out there if you start looking isn't it? My €€€ are now going to an online store based in my own country (Spain) with super cheap shipping (2€!) and run by two young couples. Feels great to support their business, they are super sweet and have the best CS. They had an inventory problem and ran out of PP, which I had purchased, and they immediately CALLED ME and offered solutions, plural. That's how you do things right!

Thanks for the tip, I had never heard of that shop before, and now I also made a pre order with free shipping! I also just bought a Freckled Fawn subscription to replace my SC sub. This past year I have just gotten supplies from SC, and now that I´m through with them I´m discovering a lot of great stuff that has passed me by. There really is a life without SC!!!

I picked up a Freckled Fawn kit yesterday with my SC money, too. Their August kit is adorable. I've begun checking out the other kits as well. Cocoa Daisy is still my favorite and I'll always keep that sub, but my SC money will go to someone else each month going forward.

I know for me at least, even though I was so ticked at SC for what they were pulling, it was still a tough mental decision to walk away. It was about being with others (on the MB) that were so excited about getting their goodies and sharing in that, receiving things you couldn't get elsewhere, wanting to make sure I got the next great stamp set, the whole thing. I guess I didn't want to get left out. However, I had reached my boiling point and finally pulled the plug. Sure, at first, it was tough seeing what others were getting, but each and every month there were issues, and it reinforced my decision to quit was the right one. And, eventually, I didn't even think about them anymore. There are so, so many other great companies out there, whether other kit clubs or manufacturers, that I was happier having more selection. I found I only wandered to their MB when I would read a thread on other MB's about their issues, or when I was bored. I really, truly, never regretted quitting. It really was freeing. Life does go on after SC, I promise.

One last thing: A lot of people don't like change. They long for "what used to be." They want things like they were in the beginning. And it's not just SC, but a lot of things.
It reminds me of how I felt when Marshall Fields closed. That was my absolute, all-time favorite department store. I can't even imagine how many hours I spent at their store on State Street in Chicago. It was 2 blocks from my office, and I'd go there several times a week either for lunch, to window shop, or spend money. I never got too old to go look at the windows at Christmas. It was an establishment, a landmark.
When they closed there were stories on the news with people crying, wanting to boycott Macy's (since I think they bought them out?), groups marching to "bring back Marshall Fields". Macy's is decent, but it's no Marshall Fields. I wanted the store how it was, what I grew up with, the great customer service with sales clerks wrapping your clothes in tissue paper, with the special sticker, and placing it in a nice box.
Unfortunately, it was no more. And it wasn't coming back. I still found myself wanting what used to be, but I've moved on, and it's just a nice memory now.
And that's how I see SC. People want the "old" SC back, they want things how it used to be. Unfortunately, this is SC today. They aren't going back, and I think that's a tough one for people to accept, just like me with Marshall Fields.

The die cuts don't have nubbins all around them or,look like a kindergartener cut them out, the words are in one piece, everything coordinates and the washi roll is GINORMOUS! Cheaper than SC by a long shot and I bet if I added an equal amount of pp and CS it would be the same price as an Sc kit but have a heck of a lot more product, and all product I will use!

Unless I am well prepared in advance or it's my idea! So to have something like this sprung on me with no warning, in the deceitful way that it was done, is leaving my heart heavy and my stomach uneasy. I had been with SC since 2011 and I never had plans of leaving. I just want things to go back, I want that small company with great service, the big names in scrapbooking teaching for them, and the comraderie on the message boards. It feels so democratic vs. republican on there now. Very politically polarized and I don't like it. But I so badly want to finish out the year with the same kits, get a few of the PL pouches (hopefully we get them!) and then in January move on. But I am a creature of habit so it's tough to just not go to their site anymore, I even have it on my home screen on my phone! I just don't understand what they are thinking! When you guys quit your sub did you have a chance to give them a piece of your mind as you left? Just wondering if I will be able to tell them why I'm leaving.

And I may cancel my scrapbook but I will keep my pl, on a month to month babasis I just think they have a very unique style that I love so I'm sticking with it, because it suits me and in spite of their stupidity. I am going less and less to the message boards as well. Maybe that's the way to go for me.

Maybe it's my extreme distaste for the company as a whole...but I'm completely unimpressed with ALL of the kits. They look so light compared to the kits back when I first started subscribing in December! It's like the bold, bright designs were used to distract us from seeing that there really isn't that much in the kits this month. I look at the kits and I see all those crazy designs and think "whoa!" but if you block those out, there really isn't much in any of the kits. I think that's the downfall of having such a tight budget...I really look at everything. And, didn't they swear up and down that this second planner kit was going to be way more awesome than the first? I'm looking at it and I'm not seeing the value again. Anyway, I think that's all from me on this subject for now...I'm done with them. Time to move on (though I will still commiserate with those who need to vent). I have almost all of my projects deleted from their site and my complete profile taken down. I wish I could be the casual customer...I really wish I didn't get so "entrenched" in things I love so much. I'm my own worst enemy for stuff like this. If I didn't care so much, I wouldn't care about all this stuff and it could just roll off my back. Why do I have to care?? LOL. I just looked at the kit for August? I don't know and thought to myself (keep in mind I have never subbed to SC so I have no say in this fight) but that kit is visually not appealing. I don't want to say ugly as that will hurt someone's feelings, but honestly it doesn't look like something I could ever use. Maybe I am an old fashioned scrapper or something. I will leave you with that comment. I have bought SC products I like i.e. Mr. Huey's and things. I just don't like their kits or the paper they have chosen.

Hey guys, I am joining you refugees! My name is the same as at SC. I have been browsing the boards here the last few days and have noticed a few names I recognise and it's nice to see you all here. The SC boards are so quiet (probably because people are too scared to say anything), it's been nice to see some activity over here!

I am obviously not a fan of your upcoming 12 month non rollover plan so I was planning on cancelling in December anyway, but frankly I don't want to pay shipping charges either and since you have taken away our 79.00 free shipping threshold the lackluster kits, subpar product (those die cuts this month were AWFUL!!!) even slower shipping times, lack of real rewards for long term subbers (how long have those been promised anyway? ?) I am over it. I wish you the best, I truly wish you could have taken to heart what your customers have been telling you, because you used to have amazing kits that were worth the hassle and games. Not anymore." This was the canned response "Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your subscription. I have processed your cancellation, effective immediately and you will no longer receive the Project Life kits. Thank you for being member of the Studio Calico community and please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with."

Skellinton, That is really the response you got after all that you have bought from them?! The nerve! My husband has a new motto "don't support stupid people" and that is why I do want to leave. I will not commit to 12 months of their kits with no guarantee on their part that they will make the kits better and not continue to make them smaller! And I will not pay more than I am now. So I have to find another option, I'm actually looking at getting a couple of the stamp in up kits. I like square corners and the newest Liz tamanaha kit is awesome! Those kits are 100 cards for less than a one month SC PL kit. I have tons of embellishments so I really don't need any more. And you add in the digital PL cards from SC that I have bought and I can change the colors myself and I realize that I don't need them. I just have to decide for myself to walk away. I am very glad to now have this community to connect with others. It makes the idea of walking away a little easier.

The change in cost doesn't really change fr me with pl as I was paying that for shipping anyway and then they made the shipping only $3, so I think I will stick with it and to get stuff shipped to Ireland can cost a fortune for some kits

I would love to see them come out with a few more collections more like the midnight edition which I still love!

They sell in the uk, but they won't sell to Ireland someone I know sells them and asked and said it was something to do with our tax laws. I have to buy pretty much everything pl related online which gets very expensive with shipping. Sc does have ok shipping for internationals and it comes faster and track able which is a huge plus for me

Hello! I am in the UK SC group on Facebook as well Oh heyyyy! :-) Are you in our other Scrappers Unite group too?

Hello! I am in the UK SC group on Facebook as well Oh heyyyy! :-) Are you in our other Scrappers Unite group too? I have just requested to join. It's quite hard to keep up with all these groups! I am not very chatty (only online, I have no problem in real life).

I am not very chatty (only online, I have no problem in real life). We created that group when shit went down at SC like our own refugee place, it's a place where we can talk about scrapping stuff other than SC. We are all becoming quite friendly on there but you are more than welcome to join in as and when you like :-)

This exactly! I do not like change, at all. I am sure everyone will be shocked, shocked I say!, to know that of course I told them why I was leaving. I don't think I was rude, but here is what I wrote: "Hello, Please cancel my kit subscription. Thank you for being member of the Studio Calico community and please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with." I didn't even bother...they all read my comments on the boards. April knew (and knows) why people are leaving. Before I cancelled, I emailed her directly...just for one last attempt. Of what I'm not sure. I never even received a response. Eff her. Funny, though, my response to my cancellation request (which was, simply, "please cancel my Project Life Subscription") was exactly the same as yours. Normally, I'm all about letting people know, but they don't even deserve it. Not any more.

What did you say that they deleted? i think that is so rude of them the board is getting boring though so maybe it will become easier for us all to leave it

I got a similar canned response too:
I have cancelled the subscription per your request, and the July Fairground kit will be the last of this subscription. We appreciate your time as a subscriber, and we hope you'll subscribe again in the future! Please let me know if you have questions!
I was tempted to reply "not bloody likely!" but I just left it at that.

As I've stated before, I joined Gossamer Blue. Whilst I'm happy with the kits, there is no chatter on the boards. No enthusiasm. I have realised that I need that. I don't have any IRL Scrapbooking friends. I recall when I first started with SC in 2008, the boards were so active, I mean so active, it was almost like a 'chat'. They would have had a fraction of the membership, they have now .

It's such a shame cause it was so fun now it's all pointless to me if I can't have an opinion i feel like a child having to be on my best behaviour or no dessert! the more I think of it the more irritated I become by the way adult customers were spoken to in that TOU post she might think she is better than me and above me but I certainly don't agree. The whole think is quite pathetic and high school in my opinion
