That's interesting about the SC kits feeling like "me" because I used to feel that way too. I loved that they seemed more sophisticated and not so themey but lately they have been off. With the specialty papers that are hard to miss and this last month with the circus themed acetate pieces. It was honestly easier to cancel than I thought. Then after getting my last kit and all the drama and changes working with my last kits basically sucked. The MB doesn't even have the same feel. Happy to be here! I agree about the kits becoming more 'themey' @needyime2scrap. It's a shame because in many other ways I've loved the vibe and feel of the kits. Guess I'll be trying out a few options between now and Dec. - have been looking at Cocoa Daisy and heard lots of good things about Ali's kits.

Welcome, ladies! I'm Sherry C. on every MB. I started subbing at SC in Jan. 2011. I subbed, on and off, until mid 2014 and cancelled (for good), because the main SB kits were so sparse and mismatched/ugly. I stopped loving the kits a long time ago, esp. when the main kits switched to all SC products. I have subbed to many kits over the years: Citrus Twist, Cocoa Daisy, and my latest sub is Hip Kit and I love it.
I still purchase things from time to time at SC, but can't see myself ever subbing again. When you compare the products between different kit clubs, it's mind-blowing how sparse SC's kits are. I think that may be one reason they were trying to hide photos of the kits unless you were already subbing. lol It took me quite some time to walk away, but when I realized I was no longer inspired by the kits, it was time to leave.

Another non-kit subscriber here who wishes to welcome all new members. I hope we see you on the other Gs threads as well. My main reason for not subscribing to SC or any of the other kits mentioned is my country's notoriously iffy postal system. Some of the feedback I have seen about various customer service issues has banished any FOMO

Hello everyone! I've never subscribed to SC, but thought I would ask a few questions since you are talking about kit clubs. Can anyone recommend a kit club that seems a little behind the trends? I'm just not into pastels, wood veneers, and gold foil. I see so much of that in the kits right now. Wasn't there a kit club that was geared toward moms of boys? I'm needing something more masculine. I'm interested in PL and embellishment kits too. Sometimes SC has a kit that is more masculine and they are my favorite. Odyssey this year was one I loved, but they do not have them a lot of months. Have you looked at Cocoa Daisy? They seem to me to be less feminine than others. Scraptastic may be a good option too as you can pick between the two mains and they seem to have a less femine option quite a bit. I sub to Hip Kit. They do have pink and gold but they are not overly femine in my eyes and I have two boys and scrapped pics of them with their kit.

But, then, I also tend to shy away from those. Even though I only have a boy, I don't really like scrapping/PLing with "boy" stuff. But, I also stay away from too much florals or anything peachy (I don't mind using pinks for my boy pages but am not a fan of flowers or peach in general). Honestly, that's why I liked SC for the most part - I felt they were pretty gender neutral overall. that said, I noticed that Cocoa Daisy's August kit is titled "Hemingway" and looks pretty masculine from the sneaks they posted.

Cocoa Daisy is one of the more gender-neutral kit clubs. The owner has two boys, so I think she's careful not to make the kits too girly.

Their kits are simple--I'm not sure they even come with embellishments. They do, however, come with sketches for LO's. Might be worth taking a look.

Hi, everyone! I'm Katyscrap over at SC as well. I currently just subscribe to both the Ali's Story kit and the stamp. I've started a list of kit clubs to research.
Hip Kit Scraptastic Clique Kits Cocoa Daisy Felicity Jane Scrapbook Circle Citrus Twist Gossamer Blue Noel Mignon
any others to add to the list?

ETA: Oh yeah, my Ron Weasley avatar. On SC it's a picture of my cats.

Hey! I'm CraftyMonki over at SC. I subbed to all three kits but cancelled them all when it all kicked off. I feel so much better for it.
I really wanted another kit to sub to and in my research realised there wasn't a comprehensive guide to them all, so instead of subbing to one more kit, I decided to go ahead and buy from them all. HA! I'm doing a new review every Sunday so they're not all done yet and won't be for quite a while. There's so many kit clubs out there! I had no idea! It's really interesting seeing the different kits and what you get for your money though, truly eye opening.
I will admit i half expected SC to have at least tried to appease people by now, but nothing. It seems like they truly don't give a sh*t about their customer base. Such a shame.

I completely agree - I thought for sure that they would do something for their current subscribers to truly grandfather them in and to honor their commitment thus far without making them commit to something that, seriously, feels sorta mafia-ish. I can't imagine subbing to all 3 kits with the new policies and prices. But they are sticking by it, it looks like. I really hope it's not then end of them. Even though I disagree with the changes and how April is choosing to run her business and have cancelled my subscription, I hope they can turn it around. It's disheartening to see so many upset customers. Change is never easy but this definitely feels like they are purging the customers who have come to expect a certain level of service and quality so they can entice new customers who may not know better.

I'd love for them to turn it around, truly. i love the kits, or at least I loved the kits before I cancelled. I hear this month is lighter? Anyway, They're still the kits that (usually) most fit my style.. But, after this fiasco, I went searching. This isn't the first time they're pulled stunts like this. April has been pulling this crap for years. The ONLY way anything will ever change if is people stop giving them their money. If they stop 'waiting and seeing' because SC doesn't care if you're waiting for change. They don't care if you love their kits. They care about your Dollars, and that's all that will affect change. Not our voices or our collective disappointment.

I never subbed to SC, but I just want to welcome y'all over here! This board is better than 2peas bc we can talk about ANYTHING we want, name online stores, kits, etc. No rules. And everyone has been very kind and helpful since day 1! It's very refreshing. inkymonkimoo, 3 Scrappy Boys is a boy-centered kit club. That might be the one you were thinking of. They're doing $10 past kit sales right now. You might want to check them out! If you like page kits, I have been getting the Boy Crazy kit from www.scrapbookgeneration.com and I LOVE it. I took a few months worth of kits to a crop over the weekend and I came home with a stack of completed pages. Let me know if you want to see some of my pages to see what the finished product looks like. I'm happy to share. These kits are helping me get through a backlog of photos!

Hi,
Does anybody have the Walden kit(or parts of it)that you would like to sell? Also, I need a few things from the Underground PL kit--a few cards and some of the Washi tape.
Message me if you can help.
Thanks, jamh

Welcome all you SC refugees! I'm hoping with more scrappers on the boards we'll be able to do some scrappy challenges. Just talking about scrapping with others is wonderful!
I don't subscribe to any kit club right now, but subscribed to Scraptastic for two years. Loved that I could choose between two different kits every month and she also offers PL. I had to stop my subscription because my kits were piling up. Once I get through several of them I'm going to subscribe again.

Hi, I just noticed this thread. The SC boards have been so dead. I am the same name both places but my avatar at SC is me and my oldest. I have been busy looking up all of the kits mentioned. I have been a member at SC since 2009, but I am considering a move. Right now I sub to both the PL and scrapbook kits. I am giving the next scrapbook kit a chance, but if there is not an improvement I will cancel and take the 15 dollar hit. The PL kit I will keep until December. I mostly do Project Life with a few regular pages thrown in. I find that SC is very much my style and I was one of the few not complaining about all of the pink (I have two girls). With that said, for next year, I am most tempted to either just get the Ali kits and fill in with BH cards or maybe cocoa daisy. I just wish Studio Calico would go back to a nice mix of exclusives and other products. I don't love it being almost all exclusives now.

Hey guys! Same name and avatar for me. I'm relatively new to the SC boards but already love the community so of course I had to follow you here. Dropped my SC PL sub last month and subbed to AE story kit+stamp, and I am loving it so far. I mostly do PL, starting to do minis and probably my first "proper" layout soon because of all the inspiration I get from all you lovely people.

Welcome SC refugees! I used to sub to the PL kit but stopped after 6 months. I used to be an SC fan but April ruined that for me a long time ago. I was so happy to discover that there are many, many other kit clubs out there that send so much more stuff in their kits and actually respect their customers. There is a great You Tube channel that showcases many of the available kit clubs out there. She goes through all of the contents and does a great job showing everything. Maybe watching a few of these might help you decide on a new club. Happy Shopping!! www.youtube.com/user/CreateScrapbooks/videos

I have decided to add Freckled Fawn to my Hip Kit sub since I do like exclusive items. I know they have a referral program, anyone here a subber want me to list them as a referral. I used to get FF but I didn't always like the stamps, now that they are alacarte I can just buy what I like. Also, Hip Kit has a bonus for current members that refer someone I believe, maybe if anyone subs you could use one of us that currently sub as a referral?

I just received my first Gossamer Blue kit. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed getting a mixture of papers from other manufacturers, not just SC exclusives. I'm just waiting for sneaks at SC then I'll quit. I'm not sure why but SC clearly want to rid themselves of either longtime subbers, or customers in general. Perhaps they're trying to get the kit side of their business to a more manageable level,so they can concentrate on the wholesale/design/manufacturing side? Marina
