Thanks for starting this thread, Skellinton! I'm leahbear1 both here and at SC, still need to figure out the avatar. I've been an SC subber off and on since the PL kit began (2012 I think?) but I'm finally done with them. I'm so sick of the way they communicate changes over there, and after realizing I've spent almost $3,000 there in 3 years (!), I'm finally hitting them where it hurts.
One trick to getting out of your commitment - I ran this by Rob Boye in a convo, and he said it would work. We shall see... So, I renewed my PL sub a couple months ago when they had a promo code. I'm one of those subbers that would always reach the free shipping threshold, so I was pissed at the new pricing, especially when they said I would be paying less. Yeah, no, it's costing me more now! I'm under my old commitment until September, but I've grown tired of the BS and customer service nightmare happening at SC. So, I converted my sub to month-to-month after the July kits shipped. I asked in convo and it was confirmed to me that converting releases me from my old commitment fee. So, I plan to check out the August preview and then cancel. I don't want SC to get one more dime of my money! I'll let you know of it works!

Welcome everyone! It's good to see some new faces & names! I've never bought a thing directly from SC, mostly because I know they had a reputation for not always having the greatest customer service. I also am not a fan of exclusive products. I prefer a kit that's a mix of current collections. I subscribe to Citrus Twist and I also like what I see from Scraptastic and from Hip Kit Club. For those of you looking for a new kit, there are tons of YouTube videos using Hip Kit club and Scraptastic in particular, including "unboxing" videos so you might want to check those out to see what the kits look like to see what might be a good fit for your style.

Hello everyone! I've never subscribed to SC, but thought I would ask a few questions since you are talking about kit clubs. Can anyone recommend a kit club that seems a little behind the trends? I'm just not into pastels, wood veneers, and gold foil. I see so much of that in the kits right now. Wasn't there a kit club that was geared toward moms of boys? I'm needing something more masculine. I'm interested in PL and embellishment kits too. In my search for a new kit club, I haven't really noticed any that are obviously masculine/geared towards boys. But, then, I also tend to shy away from those. Even though I only have a boy, I don't really like scrapping/PLing with "boy" stuff. But, I also stay away from too much florals or anything peachy (I don't mind using pinks for my boy pages but am not a fan of flowers or peach in general). Honestly, that's why I liked SC for the most part - I felt they were pretty gender neutral overall. that said, I noticed that Cocoa Daisy's August kit is titled "Hemingway" and looks pretty masculine from the sneaks they posted. Haven't read the whole thread yet, but doesn't Scrapbook Generation have a boys' themed monthly kit? I cold swear they do and that a member here subscribes, but I can't remember for the life of me who it is! Maybe someone else will remember.

I just cancelled. I love their kits, they are totally my style and will miss them, but honestly, i don't have the time or energy to deal with all these issues that they seem to love to generate.
Do hope they get better. Maybe, just maybe, they can win us back.

I looooooooove it. Plus they have the best customer service! No fee to cancel. Quit when you want. Add stuff from the store to your box for no additional shipping costs. Member reward points to use on your future purchases. Love it. It's a page kit club though, so I know that doesn't work for everyone. But for me, it's perfect. I've loved all the lines they've put in the kits so far, too!

I just wanted to pop in to welcome all of the new girls! So glad you're here!
My username is the same as it is at SC - and pretty much everywhere else, for that matter. I have been on these boards since the first day, which was a little over a year ago, and I LOVE it here. To be honest, I post more on the NSBR board and lurk more on this board but I love it just the same.
Please get comfy and stay! You'll find the NSBR board very entertaining, too, as well as very welcoming. Truly. It's also a very fast-moving board so check it out!
I am still a three-kit subscriber at SC. My commitment to two of them will be over with September's kits so I plan to get them until then. The penalty doesn't make it worth it for me to quit now. I've been a continous subscriber to the SB kit for almost four years. I hate the idea of losing my reward status so I will stick it out with that kit until the end of the year and make a decision then.

I haven't subscribed to SC in forever, don't post there anymore, but I do lurk on the message boards.
There's been issues with SC for years. However, this last fiasco seems to be a doozy, and I wonder if they'll be able to rebound. I've followed along over there and a lot of people would be rightfully so upset, and say they were cancelling, but lots of people stuck it out. This time around seems different though. I don't think I've ever read so many people unhappy and jumping ship.
It's actually reminding me of the great exodus of 2Peas. The owners really ticked a lot of people off, and tons left and never looked back. I don't know if that was the nail in the coffin for 2Peas, but it certainly didn't help them. I'm starting to wonder if this might happen with SC.
Is it just me or did these bigger, and more frequent issues, start once AC came in the picture. I thought back then SC bit off more than they could chew, and it seems like it's just been downhill since then. Those of you that are ending your subs, I hope you find a kit club you love. There are a lot of them out there to choose from.

I actually cancelled my PL kit with 2 months left and they didn't charge me the $15. I am guessing they may be waiving it right now.

I just received my first Gossamer Blue kit. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed getting a mixture of papers from other manufacturers, not just SC exclusives. I'm just waiting for sneaks at SC then I'll quit. I'm not sure why but SC clearly want to rid themselves of either longtime subbers, or customers in general. Perhaps they're trying to get the kit side of their business to a more manageable level,so they can concentrate on the wholesale/design/manufacturing side?Marina I very much believe this to be the case. I'm only speculating but I can't believe they would be making it so hard for people to give them money otherwise.

They really do seem to not want my money. It's baffling. The boards have been VERY quiet lately in terms of SC staff (and DT).

But, like I pointed out to @skellinton the other day, it's probably for the best because they really do seem to make bad situations worse. Those giant threads that were started for the new website and Preview/Reveal? Such a mess. And then they abandon them once they get completely out of control yet people still comment and ask questions (because that's what the initial post SAYS to do!). The CT has been somewhat active but don't they often do that to push the negative threads out of the "active" feed?

I have subbed with SC since the PL kits started but dropped them two months ago. I hadn't been happy with the PL kits this year. I used to buy sb/card kits every couple of months and have been surprised with how lean the contents have become as compared to three years ago. The stamps would draw me in, but not lately. Really confused with what they are thinking with all these changes.
I am now subbing to Cocoa Daisy and am very happy with the kits. I also get the AE story kit and stamp. Both give me a good value for the money imo.

Another non-kit subscriber here who wishes to welcome all new members. I hope we see you on the other Gs threads as well. My main reason for not subscribing to SC or any of the other kits mentioned is my country's notoriously iffy postal system. Some of the feedback I have seen about various customer service issues has banished any FOMO Hey ScrapsontheRocks long time no talk.. just wanted to chime in that I get the HipKits each month - yes they take a long time to get to me but the owner of HipKits has gone out of her way to find the best shipping method - it's a bit more costly but does mean better tracking and I've never not had a kit arrive - just in case you want to let that fomo come back

Is this a safe place? Can I speak candidly about today's previews? I've made a couple comments on the SC boards, but in fear of being called "negative" and told to "just leave already" I figured I'd stop.
Anyway, I am thoroughly happy that I quit my sub. I am not at all impressed with what I'm seeing (which, honestly, isn't much). Plus, I'm really not a fan of the graphic designs (though, I do love the colors) nor with modern/pop art in general. So, this is a good "first kit post cancellation" for me. Plus, none of the stamps made me wish I had them and those ALWAYS make me excited. Even the PL stamp...which is weird because I always love IaCB stamps.
I noticed the little remark about the sticky notes stickiness in the planner kit laughed at that. Hilarious.
But, I really did want these kits to wow people - I wasn't just saying that. And, I'm sure there are plenty who will like them - those whose style is graphic. But, I'm not seeing as many "loooooove it" comments as usual. Sad.

I *might* get the digital PL cards. The washi looked fun but I'm not spending 30$ on a cool roll of paper tape and some squishy lemons. I like the stamp but it is SO small. The "go shop now!" from April was kinda like a slap in the face

Hi! I´m from Norway and I have been a SC subscriber since 2008, and now I really think I´m done. I´m looking at both Citrus Twist and Hip Kit Club but I can´t decide, I also love the look of the Freckled Fawn kits but I´m debating wether or not it´s worth the money. Is anyone here a member of Big Picture classes? I´m really tempted, because there are a lot of classes and the price is great (it seems...)

The sneaks were enough for me to finally cancel. I can't believe I have been a member for 8 years, but I am done. There are a few cute things in the PL kit I like, but as someone pointed out, the stamp set is super tiny. I really like the stamp, but I have plenty of stamps to use and I am not going to buy a kit just for the stamp and a few items since I have to pay shipping now. I made some final digital purchases, and I am finally done. The video was awful, the whole in and out of focus thing is just amateur, not artistic. What was up with the main kit stamp preview, she barely showed it and mentioned something about a cat but I couldn't even begin to see what it was. Super excited to get my FF and Hip Kit, way more product, product I will use, some exclusives and best of all people I feel good about giving my money to.

I think I am going to wait and see if this SB kit is better value wise this month. If it is not I will cancel. Strangely unlike the main I have been happy with most of my add-ons so I am crossing my fingers this holds true for this month (I pre-purchased Warhol and the embellishment kit). I still think I am sticking out my PL kit until December and right now am leaning towards Cocoa Daisy for January (I hope that isn't a mistake).

When I was a kid and we got our first camcorder, my little brother and I would have "talk shows" and talk about stuff around the house like we were selling it (nerd alert! nerd alert!)...that's what this video felt like. especially with the "artsy" blurry BS. Come on. Show us the products and move on. So ridiculous. There are some pretty good CT sneaks that show the products in use really, really well but still not enough to make me regret cancelling. Especially, like you said, the small amount of product included and the fact that I no longer feel good about giving my money to them. It's too bad because that Harper alpha is pretty cool.

Exactly abragg79. Their PL cards are the only ones I really like out there and that fit the look I like, but I HATE giving my money to that company because I don't like the owner and their business practices. I seriously cannot believe I have put up with their BS for so long!

I still have a few months to run on my SB commitment so will hang on for now. But come Dec I expect to cancel both SB and PL. Kinda sad about PL in particular, but unless there's massive improvement, it's just not worth the $$ anymore (especially with the ever declining NZ$ - sigh). I have just signed up to Ali's story kit as a trial (month by month) and will see how I like that. I am also seriously considering Citrus Twist (will use your name as referrer if I do CarolineO'Sullivan). Am also wondering about an embellishment kit instead - either FF or Pinkfresh Studio. I also like the look of Clique kits, but am not sure about the concept - basically one product line with a few extras and some digital files. Anyone currently subscribe? There is too much stuff out there - that's the problem!

I did the month to month sub for the card kit last month and have asked to cancel. The stamp set is just not one I would use much. I also didn't like the papers...just not my style. I think they were just too bright for me.
I also thought the class was a little weird but maybe there is more of a market for that type of thing than I realize.
I also was thinking about it and I really like how Hip Kit has a lot of CT that do process videos. Do many SC CT members do process videos? I haven't noticed many but maybe I just haven't come across them.
