So I just sent a convo to SC requesting they cancel my 'planner' kit. I was wondering, though, if they adjust for not shipping your remaining kits or just charge you 1/2 of 3x the cost of the kit?

I'll tell you what's sad. Remember back in March when they took two pieces of paper to give a specialty paper? And some they'd rather they take the cardstock and now, they've done it. Took two sheets of cardstock. For me that was what made me cancel my last sub and take the penalty. Two sheets of cardstock. This was what pushed me to hard feelings. That, and how no one addressed it. Not the company, nor the community. Honestly, after the fiasco of the 2 pieces of PP for 1 piece of specialty paper and then with all this other stuff that has gone down with the prices structure changes, commitment terms changing, card kit disappearing, TOU BS, website changes, etc., I think the community is at a "what's the point?" point. Any threads broaching the topic will just get locked and/or deleted. We all know that conversations just result in canned responses. And if you ARE able to get a reason out of the staff, you just get BS ( aggiebonfire00 asked in reveal chat last week and was told the cardstock was taken out to make up for the roller stamp which we all know is the biggest pile of poo ever). So the community has a choice: bend over and take it (which many still are) or get the eff out of there (which many more are finally figuring out is a better choice.

I would be calling my bank about an unauthorized charge in that case. I'm no authority by any means, but that seems like it's entering dangerous territory legally - if multiple people are disputing charges from one vendor, won't that trigger an investigation of some sort, possibly by the BBB ? Or am I completely wrong here? Not sure if the BBB would look into the issue without a complaint to them? According to this it's also possible to file a complaint with the office of the Attorney-General of Kentucky ag.ky.gov/civil/consumerprotection/complaints/Pages/default.aspx

Without naming names, because I don't want to dis the CT, (I know they work hard with what they are given and we all know that ain't much) but I found the Gallery very uninspiring for much of this year. So many of the CT have a very specific style, and their projects month after month look exactly the same. Same design, same colours, same white cardstock, etc. I really miss seeing people like Gillian Nelson and Sasha Farina on the CT. They always had such fun, eclectic projects that would make me look at the products in a new way. (I would agree that Welobellie is the best part of the team this year; they should have added her permanently instead of guesting).

Or am I completely wrong here? I'm not damning the whole BBB, but they themselves (local branch) were under investigation for giving high ratings to businesses that paid dues to them. An avalanche of complaints may trigger a report, they then send inquiries to the company, then possibly issue a downgrade in rating if no response is received. I don't believe they have the manpower to actually "investigate" to the degree most people think they do.

Were you on a 6-month or 12-month commitment? You'll be charged for 1/2 of your remaining commitment. So, if you have 3 months left on your commitment, you'll be charged 3 months at whatever price tier you're at divided in half. Hope that makes sense...

Well my September PL kit and other purchases have shipped and my 6 months fulfilled. Now I have to decide whether to cancel now or wait until after December so I have all the 2015 PL sin kits. I am really torn right now. I have been there a long time. I also have a huge number of classes there that I want to work through. But I really want to have a no spend 2016. My stash is ginormous.

I remember being disappointed when she dropped her DTs. I still have print-outs of her older layouts from years ago that continue to inspire me. I think the white background is a trend now (?) because I see it used a lot on YouTube. When I subbed way back when I used to follow all the SC DT members and they were all fabulous, imho. When Celine Navarro first joined I was also into her style and I can even look at my albums and pinpoint exactly those that were inspired by her. However, recently, not so much, again probably due to the paucity of product more so than anything else.

I'll fulfil my SB commitment in Nov so will cancel after shipping. I figure that lets me finish my 2015 PL album with SC kits and close that off. Not prepared to sign up with the new commitment policy and since I'm going with a thematic approach to PL next year I don't need any Jan 2016 stuff. Plus don't want to leave cancelling till the last minute because I predict there will be a lot of people exiting in Dec and probably delays in processing all the cancellations.

I agree that the BBB doesn't really have much in the way of power. Credit card disputes, however, do.
Also, I think if one was to contact the KY AG, or some other government entity that protects consumer rights, that may go farther than the BBB.

I was on a 6 month so my monthly was 22.99 but that INCLUDES shipping so do they adjust for shipping? I basically am paying 35 bucks to save 35 bucks.

There was a period of time when I would have just posted a thread asking if it was correct that there were only two pieces of cardstock in the main, but, at this point, I was (absurdly) afraid to make any inquiries on the messageboards. I'd just seen a thread alluding to 'the thread which won't be named' or some such, which was subsequently deleted. It seemed likely that a negative backlash would ensue if I did make inquiries about kit contents, and I was unsure if it had already been discussed and I just missed it.

I'm not purchasing the extra cardstock and I was already dipping into my SB cardstock for cards because they were sending two prefolded cards in the cardkits. I'm sorrynotsorry but for $25 I needed to get more than 2 cards out! Take away my card kit and then half my cardstock and what's the point of even sticking around?

That's already built in to the base charge of the kit. Lovely, ain't it -- you're paying 1/2 for 3 months worth of goods you'll never see and paying 1/2 for 3 months worth of shipping that'll never happen.

That's a really good point about not waiting until December to cancel. I wanted to wait until November because, after a really disappointingly thin kit, SC usually does a great one. However, relying on precedent right now seems likely to engender disappointment, too. I am ambivalent.

Out of curiousity - and only because you're not the only one to make that statement - why is it important to have a full years worth of the 2015 kits? Each month's kit is so distinctly different so it's not like using the kits each month is necessarily cohesive within your album. So I'm just wondering why having 12 months of kits from the same company is so important. I've been adding in core kit cards within my cards and they look just fine. I mean, it's fine whatever you decide to do but I've just always been curious about that reason. Also, for whatever it's worth, even if you cancel your subscription, you will still have access to all your classes. Those don't go away when you cancel.

I'm pinning/adding less and less which I think is a sure sign it's time for me to cancel. I may go early since Dec is all about DD (and I've got products coming for that). I really don't need a traditional PL kit that month. The preview next month will determine if I stick around until Nov.

aggiebonfire00 yup, looks like both of your comments on there are gone. I responded to the one about your rewards discount (said that I was able to use remaining calico points so you would think you could get your discount). Hilarious.

These people need to contact their credit card cos and contest the charge. Per FTC rules on unordered merchandise, you don't pay for something you didn't order and you keep what was sent. If the SC customers had given fair notice of cancelling then they did NOT order the merchandise they received. people need to report this crap! I'm not in that PL FB group, but PLEASE tell people it's easy to report this kind of crap. Go to www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov and click through the prompts. Takes about 5 minutes.

That makes sense. I bought Jasmine's months of the year set so I'll have a cohesive look next year without using 12 kits from any one company. Plus, they're silver.

IMO a CT needs to be diverse so no matter what your style is, you can see how you can use a kit or product. I do appreciate the CT and their hard work each month, but it's all got too 'samey' for me.

Also, anyone taking bets on how long the Shopping Cart Time Out Management thread lasts? Seriously, what a better example of how not to run a business..... How many people need to comment that it makes them spend less and not want to shop there period before you realize that it is a bad idea?! It almost seems like they aren't willing to make any changes based on customer feedback now just to prove some kind of point. Kind of like when your parents wanted to show you who was boss as a teenager! While I hate the new sub terms and won't go along with it, I could understand them "having" to institute something like that to ensure cash flow but the cart timer... That is just dumb.

Post by mdith4him on Sept 10, 2015 10:23:39 GMT
Yeah, I really don't get the shortened timer either. It used to make sense when things were gone in seconds just to be sure people didn't hoard stuff in their carts, but now? There's no reason for it. I wish they would explain their reasoning behind some of this...
