I don't know if you can change your username in a different way, but I can tell who the two of you are by hovering. Yeah, I just realized that. I think it's best if a brand new account was created here.

I just checked and I am not getting a duplicate. I wish I was! Mostly because I have a PO Box how would they get it back from me?
What kit were the pouches supposed to start with for the PL kit? I know that the last SB kit I got came in one, but I don't think that any of the PL kits I have gotten have come with one. I am also worried that I now need to go back through all my old kids to make sure I am not missing anything. I haven't opened most of my stuff in a while.

Maybe I'm naive, but so far, they've only kicked off 2 people (that we know of.)

OK, I think I'm caught up. 1. If you don't return your duplicate, I can see SC charging the customer for the 2nd shipment. Then if the customer has any sense, they would dispute this and it would probably end badly. 2. If you get a duplicate, SC tells you NOT to open it. But given how they have made many mistakes in not sending everything in a kit and/or sending damaged item PLUS the size discrepancy, the customer would be foolish NOT to open it. That would mean that SC would have to rely on the honesty of the customer to return everything that was supposed to be in the box and not take something extra. (And I think most people would be honest.) BUT if the box had yet another error....what would SC do to the customer who returned their duplicate missing anything, even a 25 cent tag? I don't see forgiveness from Bowling Green. 3. People who were supposed to get a stamp, etc. and charged for it are under the impression that SC will send them a replacement once the duplicates come back. Is there anything written down and sent that said this? If not, and to be honest, even if they did, I can see the temptation of SC to say, "Sorry, not sorry" and put them out on the marketplace and let people fight for it. 4. If you are on the banned list, how would you contact SC to straighten out missing pieces, refunds due to you, etc.? 5. How does SC treat people who own LSS? Do they make these kinds of mistakes with quantity and quality? Seven Papers is selling paper to LSS and so I'm curious. I'm sure I have more questions and ugly scenarios because it's such an epic clustercuss which no real end in sight. (1) I think I'll just call the FTC tomorrow and get a straight answer - does this situation fall under Unordered Merchandise or Shipping Error? Because those 2 situations have rules of their own. I'll post here whatever answers I get from them. (2) I doubt SC would even know what's missing! They don't even seem to thoroughly check what goes in boxes to begin with. (3) I'm guessing they'll have to send those oversold items to those who've already paid. If they don't they'll have to issue refunds or store credits, and I'm thinking they wouldn't want to do that! (4) You can use Contact Us. (5) No clue.

That's interesting about the SC kits feeling like "me" because I used to feel that way too. I loved that they seemed more sophisticated and not so themey but lately they have been off. With the specialty papers that are hard to miss and this last month with the circus themed acetate pieces. It was honestly easier to cancel than I thought. Then after getting my last kit and all the drama and changes working with my last kits basically sucked. The MB doesn't even have the same feel. Happy to be here! I feel the same way - I used to love most everything in my kits - the colors, the mix of patterns, the fun embellies - I thought of the kits as classic with a modern twist. But I have struggled with most of the kits this calendar year. Though I have to say that I am loving Brimfield - especially mixing it with some of the bits from Clara that were in my box. Most of the papers feel like the old SC to me. But it does seem light - especially when it comes to embellies Yeah that's my feeling too, particularly with the SB kit. I was so excited to start my sub (PL) last year, and I still mostly like the PL kits but the papers in the main are getting harder and harder to work with. Plus with the new subscription model including postage around $8 of the price must be covering shipping costs hence less product included.

Maybe I'm naive, but so far, they've only kicked off 2 people (that we know of.) Anything is possible. This is a public board so there shouldn't be any expectation of privacy. There have been many threads in this board about SC since last year; it's just that this one has been the biggest and most controversial thus far.

Does anybody find it hilarious that this whole fiasco is about a scrapbooking subscription site? lol
My husband is like, "I would never imagine this happening to a scrapbook site... who would have thought they had it in them?"
You would think the people over at SC would be sweet... but really they just come across as cold and callous. I hate when April says something along the lines of, "hurry up, scroll down and shop!".

Wow, I leave for a weekend and all hell breaks loose.
I would like to believe that they didn't kick people out based on this board, that would be sad. Besides the joke is on them since they kicked out two very dynamic members who added so much to the boards. That can't be replaced easily..

I just reread the tou. I realized that even copying a thread to here, from there, is against it. Not sure how they could control. But holy mackerel..... Wait, is it against the TOU to post a link to a layout in the SC gallery, too? Or just a link to a messageboard topic? Yes, it is...not just what you mentioned but ALL. "Except as expressly provided in these Terms of Use, no part of the Site and no Content may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, publicly displayed, encoded, translated, transmitted, or distributed in any way (including “mirroring”) to any other computer, server, Website or other medium, for publication or distribution or for any commercial enterprise, without Studio Calico’s express prior written consent."

Holy crap! Is that normal TOU stuff or is that exclusive to SC (see what I did there?). And how would they police that? With legal action? They can't effectively control their own message boards.

Yes, that's fairly common legalese, and you can't police the entire Internet looking for negative posts about your company. You wouldn't have time to run your business. The only time cos invoke things like that is when they have a legal disputes.

He also really, really enjoys appearing or being mentioned in my scrapbook, which I find delightful! For what it's worth, I interpret the "Hurry up, scroll down and shop!" statement as being a the sort of thing I might say to a friend who has been eagerly awaiting a sale that's just started, BUT I can also totally see that it could be construed as a command, too. (I am also fairly naive at times, so maybe I just WANT to construe it more positively.)

I really hate conflict, and don't want to be kicked off the site, as 25 Days is a class I REALLY look forward to every year. I'd also really hate to not be able to "like" other people's layouts. And I've purchased class bundles with content that has yet to go live.

I get that as of late, I had been frustrated on the boards over there. But over 8 years, I have posted a million positive things on the boards and in the gallery. If I was running SC and a long term member seemed to be disgruntled with my company, I would personally reach out to see what the company was missing the mark on. I love how they put the downfall of their message board on me and abr99. I guess we could take that as a compliment?!?!? I can't believe that they are saying that two people have that much influence! Ha!!!

I wonder how intellectual property law about "fair use" applies here - one of the protected uses is engaging in criticism or analysis. Ralph Lauren's legal dept sent a cease-and-desist letter to boing-boing for posting a promotional image from an as campaign with a caption commenting on the photoshop fail, remarking that the photoshopper's instructions must have been to make the model's head appear larger than her pelvis. The Boing-boing site creator happens to be one of the foremost experts on intellectual property and copyright laws as they apply to cyberspace, and pretty handily dispensed with a giant corporation's attempt to intimidate a blogger out of posting anything other than effusive praise for their ad campaigns, products, ect.
