Wait, is it against the TOU to post a link to a layout in the SC gallery, too? Or just a link to a messageboard topic? Yes, it is...not just what you mentioned but ALL. "Except as expressly provided in these Terms of Use, no part of the Site and no Content may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, publicly displayed, encoded, translated, transmitted, or distributed in any way (including “mirroring”) to any other computer, server, Website or other medium, for publication or distribution or for any commercial enterprise, without Studio Calico’s express prior written consent."Thanks for copying for me.....you'd think with all the legalese, that their lawyer (s) wrote, they would know how to run a legal contest......lol

In academia, criticism is regarded as fair use of copyrighted works. That's actually fairly common, isn't it? Professors distribute copyrighted works as part of their teaching arsenal. BUT, I don't know how that would apply to the fashion industry, though. PM me, please, when you find out because I'm curious. What is Boing-boing's site all about.

I doubt she ran that by their legal counsel; sort of running off with an idea because it seemed "cool" at the moment.

I really wish that I had ordered as a result of that contest so I could stir the pot a little. I'd get it refunded in a minute and report them to the FTC for running the stupid contest in the first place, then bait and switching me and cancelling it after the fact.

Wow, I leave for a weekend and all hell breaks loose. I would like to believe that they didn't kick people out based on this board, that would be sad. Besides the joke is on them since they kicked out two very dynamic members who added so much to the boards. That can't be replaced easily.. Thank you. Seriously, this made me teary eyed. I get that as of late, I had been frustrated on the boards over there. But over 8 years, I have posted a million positive things on the boards and in the gallery. If I was running SC and a long term member seemed to be disgruntled with my company, I would personally reach out to see what the company was missing the mark on. I love how they put the downfall of their message board on me and abr99. I guess we could take that as a compliment?!?!? I can't believe that they are saying that two people have that much influence! Ha!!! maybe you will make their ever popular 'timeline' on the website!

There's a cheerleader on the SC board replying to juliee thread about the lottery/contest. Wonder if it's someone in headquarters.

I asked earlier if those people who received doubles were charged twice on their cc. They said no. If UPS comes to my house 3x and I'm at work, that would mean I'd get charged for that double because it wasn't returned. There are many people who work. I foresee a huge kerfuffle coming. I checked UPS - the company does NOT even have to send emails to their customers. UPS would even do that for the company - send emails to your customers with the prepaid return label already attached. Well, that's a no-brainer, wouldn't you think. It begs the question "WHY DO IT THE HARD WAY?" (Btw, 3 times is the limit, after that UPS will charge the company extra.) Why do it the hard way? Because they are reactive rather than proactive. Someone freaked out and reacted rather than doing a little homework to find the best solution for everyone. This is what happens when inexperienced people are in charge.

We recently had a charge on our CC that I disputed. The CC company took it off ($300) and didn't ask twice. I told them we did not authorize that charge. Billing you twice for something isn't okay. I would imagine different states have different laws, but most CC companies are for the customer.

Oh, dear...the new member. I hope, for her own good, that she read the subscription terms carefully. (Ladies or whoever is reading this, this is just friendly advice, alright? Even if you are convinced that what SC did with that contest is wrong, STOP using the word "illegal" on their website. You might land yourself in more trouble than you bargained for and banning may be the least of what might happen. Just temper your dissatisfaction with some caution.)

There's a cheerleader on the SC board replying to juliee thread about the lottery/contest. Wonder if it's someone in headquarters. Gotta be someone they have rallied to start posting 'shiny happy' posts. Not really working is it? I barely recognise anyone posting now - although I suppose if you were new, all the negative (factual!) stuff is deleted. If you didn't read here, you would have no idea about the double shipping fiasco. That woman will find Google one day and find out the truth, and will get a big surprise when she tries to get out of her sub.

Hmm... "Wouldn't have time to run (their) business" you say... Have you just accidentally discovered what's been going on?! I'm not a subscriber, but have shopped from their site... I've read a lot of this thread and as an 'outsider', I'm impressed with how everyone here is conducting themselves... Your concerns are legit and are not one-off oopsies... You're complaining, but in what's maybe the most reasonable, polite, controlled, articulate way... Considering that it's easy for things to go sideways online/in forums, and especially in such a long thread - you guys are class Really glad you've found your way over here

Hopefully she can read it before the thread is undoubtedly deleted today. Here's my response: "Yes, some people are not exactly giving SC the benefit of the doubt. That's because they've lost the trust of SO.MANY.PEOPLE. over the last several months to a year. As a newbie, I totally hope your experience here is awesome and you're treated right by the company. Just keep your eyes open."

Maybe it's disappeared because you discovered their cunning plan (that the new user was, in fact, a plant).

Just received an exception notice from UPS - they are going to be in my area today so they are going to just deliver my packages directly today.
My packages also have a full pound discrepancy. While I am sure they are duplicates, I will be opening both to check and make sure I'm not shorted anything. I will return it but only if they send me a label. Plus, I haven't even received an email from SC about the dupe. The last I've heard from them.on this issue was to tell me I was only receiving one package. But, I don't need or want doubles of these kits and I would rather SC spend more money trying to get it back than keep them. And they thought shipping was killing them before.

You can stop with the scaremongering. What exactly do you think they are going to do? Hire a lawyer to police an internet message board at $500 an hour? Send out cease and desist letters after "opening" individual "cases" for every problematic post on an internet message board at $250 each? Patently ridiculous. Armchair legal experts are so funny.
