Agree about the packaging. A kraft paper bag with washi closing it is just as cute and way, way cheaper. I can see the appeal of the bags and could certainly use a couple for other projects. However after 6-12 months and at least that many bags (more if you're a multi-subber), what the heck are you going to do with them?? I bet a bunch get tossed after they pile up, which is just a big waste of money. Plus, brown paper bags *can* be used in layouts - I used the more patterned paper add-on bag on the first layout I made with the Brimfield kit this month. I also like that they double as a mixing palette, misting test patch, or stamping test patch.

I don't understand why they are making this such a hassle! They must not trust me because when I contacted them yesterday asking about the duplicate package (which, I still never did receive an official notification from SC about) I told them I would gladly send the duplicate package back if they sent me a label. The told me to go ahead and keep the duplicate package. They must be afraid of retaliation or something. LOL. Either that or since my order was just 2 older add-on kits, that weren't sold out, they figured it would be easier to just have me keep them. Also, huge relief, my account with Ali will stay intact. I am very happy about that and what I was most worried about (especially since I have a $120+ DD preorder out there). document, document, document.

Well, I hope that means they are going to make amends and do the right thing. I never heard anything yet so I just contacted them again, telling them that the packages were opened and I would gladly drop in a UPS box at my work complex if they sent me a prepaid label. I just don't understand why things seem to go from bad to worse. SC really, really should get a customer service department, with real people that answer phones, and can work on each issue directly talking to the customer. This email crap, taking days back and forth is a joke. Agreed! Some things are just too complicated to describe in an email. Plus, what company does not?! I have talked to humans at large and small companies so there is no excuse.

I actually weighed my box last month because it said it was only like 3 pounds...it was 5+ pounds. I don't know if I believe the anon person on the smack blog. They could be anyone just stirring up trouble. I am pretty sure they have at least 2 manifests: one for subbers and one for non subbers. Subbers get a built in shipping discount... That would make a great deal of sense, and could explain (some) of the duplicates/weight dispairities - the computure duplicated the subber's manifest as though they were non-subscribers. I genuinely hope the entirity of the smack blog post is based on false or misunderstood information. I seriously doubt that dishonest shipping practices could happen on such a large scale without any suspicions being raised before now, like most of the posters on this thread. I especially hope the assertion that the SC warehouse is an awful place to work is untrue. I live not far from Bowling Green, and my hope with increased shipping & handling fees was that *some* of it was going to warehouse staff.

I'm glad that your Ali account is safe, @abr79. That must be a huge relief. I still can't believe they banned you and @aggiebonfire though.

Yes. This. The company I work for sells office supplies. We do a lot of business with federal and state government workers. We actually recently won a special contract that even Staples didn't get. We have 2 sales reps, a bookkeepper, a full time CS rep (me), and a part time CS rep. We get phone calls and emails all day and we can handle it. I get back to customers generally within a few hours, but almost always within 24 hours. SC really doesn't have an excuse.

I honestly can't imagine that that smack blog post is based on fact. At first, it was definitely intriguing and made you wonder but the more I thought about it, the more I just couldn't believe that SC would not only put their own business in danger but all the others that rely on them for manufacturing, shipping and web hosting to try a shipping scam. I'm hopeful it's just a drama-monger looking to stir the pot. Don't get me wrong - I'm not SC's #1 fan anymore and I truly believe that they have made many irreparable mistakes but I still don't want them to go out of business. It's not good at all for this industry to lose any companies right now. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing certain people within SC go. :/

I just got off the phone with my cc company and explained the whole situation to the rep – got duplicate shipment, vendor will not issue return label, I cannot be at home waiting for UPS, I opened the box, etc.
She said that if I contacted the vendor and asked for a return shipping label and the vendor refused to issue it, I am under NO obligation to pay any future add’l charge to my credit card. If the vendor charges my cc for the merchandise I can just call and dispute the charge and cc company will remove it.
Obviously, not all cc cos are the same. For those in this situation (you opened the box, etc.) contact your cc, tell them what’s going on so you’re prepared for any possible problems.

I must give a shout out. During the year with SC, I started up a sub to SSS. I just saw this month's release and I have to say, WOW!, for about the same price I feel the kit is a lot fuller. It does not come in a flashy bag and there is not personal packing tape on the box but I feel the kit is packed with a lot of goodness and not just some doily cut outs. I get a whole thing of string and not just a few yards. Plus, I don't have to buy the add on die to go with my stamp set. I am happy I started this kit when I did because it has helped fill the void off losing my SC card kit. And I loved my SC card kits but the value does not seem to compare to me.

I respect that you like and respect her (lol), but I've seen some pretty nasty comments from her along the same lines of today's. I'm pretty sure shes been called out, but that's her delivery. Ironically, she's doing the exact same thing she's accusing others of.

They interpret a post as "rude" so then they post an equally, if not more, rude post in response. But because they are pro-SC, it's overlooked where someone who is being critical comes off as the bad guy. It's one thing that has always rubbed me wrong about any message board and why I sometimes have a hard time with them and try and stay away from them certain times of the month. My dander gets all afluff and I then feel like I have to point out the irony and then it turns into some crazy back and forth and I just get even more angry. But double standards have always bothered me.

I think SC's boards are particularly bad for the double standards, abr79. That is such a well-written post though. I hope it stays. - the OP of that thread, that is.

A few of the SB pouches will be useful to hold kits or pages in progress but I wouldn't want to end up with dozens of them and the cost must account for contents declining further. A clear plastic bag would be fine and then at least you can see the contents easily.

They could also have done the pouches as a limited edition type thing. Something where kits were shipping in them for say, 3 months. Then people could have gotten them "free" with their kit orders, but then put them in the shop for sale. Or even had them as an upgrade option for the kits (pay an extra $2-3 and get your kit packaged in the pouch). Are they really that much lighter than the boxes? The boxes were pretty flimsy. Maybe shipping those envelope style mailers is cheaper than the boxes? Although, again, with company discounts, UPS often just charges based on weight. When I mail things, I can put a pack of pens in a small, padded mailer or I could put them in a huge box. Either way, I'm paying the same price since the weight is the same. I received just my PL sub in the pouch that was in a bubble mailer. That has to be cheaper than shipping the boxes that were inside another box. I'm actually trying to get into a couple of Facebook SC groups so that maybe I can buy a couple of the scrapbook pouches (I don't sub to that anymore) and maybe two more of the PL pouches. Then I would be comfortable canceling my sub. Does anyone know much about Pinkfresh kits? I love their Instagram feed. And I still have not been able to get on Scraptastics site unfortunately. Pinkfresh have just announced they're stopping the monthly kits but will be doing occasional limited edition kits instead and more retail lines.

mama2bailey and macaddict: Did you open the duplicate box? Here's the reason I ask: I called UPS and explained everything that happened in this SC situation, including SC’s refusal to email a return shipping label. This is what the rep said: --If the customer does not open the box, she can just call UPS and specify a pick-up date, or give it to any UPS driver, or UPS delivery person at work, as long as the original date of receipt is no longer than 5 business days and she marks the box “Refused” or “Return to Sender”; she doesn’t have to wait at home not knowing when UPS will come. (Why SC did not tell their customers this is a mystery to me.) --If the customer opened the box, she can call UPS and specify a pick-up date BUT she would have to pay the pick-up fee and shipping charge (I don’t know why anyone would want to do that). If I were in the situation where I opened the duplicate box I would keep contacting SC until they send a return shipping label. This is a huge hassle for customers. Added to that is UPS will only make 3 attempts to pick up. Some customers, I’m sure, live in urban areas where leaving the package on the porch or stoop is not a good idea. I don’t know, but if every customer in this situation would contact SC and DEMAND an electronic return shipping label they might just figure out that it’s the easiest way! If I find anything helpful, I'll come back and post. Wow! Thank you for this info! I didn't get SC's email until after all packages were gone through so I didn't know there were dupe orders. Even if I did get there email in time how would I know which orders were the dupes. I got one envelope and 3 boxes (stupid, huh?). Two boxes had 7 kits in (these were dupes of each other), the other box had a 6x6 paper pad and journal cards with a note that 2 items were oversold, and the envelope had journal cards with a note that 3 items were oversold (these were the dupes of each other but missing different things). LOL! Crazy, right?! There is no way I will temporarily pay to have something shipped back that wasn't my error. I am trying to do the right thing so I will try to contact them again. Absolutely crazy. No wonder there were so many 'oversolds'!

You know, mdith4him…I’m not even an SC customer and this got my goat. I can only imagine what the affected customer is feeling! People are trying to do the right thing and SC won’t even cooperate! What kind of craziness is that? They would rather dig their heels in and make it harder, not only for the customer, but for THEMSELVES as well! If anyone can make sense of this, heaven bless her.
