Pjaye, Weren't you also a member of Sucks if memory serves me right? That board was/still is one of the most brutal boards I've ever been a member at. Makes here look like a nunnery. I never posted much except on the big brother threads years ago - think I stopped at season 8. I still go there to read Survivor shit though. Yes, in the early days I did used to post there, I was "nice big yellow kitty" (after Survivor Africa when a friend was making fun of me and said that I'd probably want to pat those nice big yellow kitties...lol). That place got totally out of hand, but it was fun back then...but I just watch the show now, not into spoilers etc any more. Last time I went there it was so such a jumbled mess, I couldn't even follow what was going on.
Then there was TWOP those posts were brutal too, but they were all directed at the TV people and not other posters, however the moderation there was harsh! You could swear in posts until the air around you turned blue, but if you asked a similar question to one asked 100 pages ago they'd delete your post, or you'd get mod PMs if you accidentally forgot a capital letter somewhere. Their moderation about "how" you write was insane, considering otherwise you could say anything you wanted (as long as it was grammatically correct and you'd read the last 10 pages of any topic). They had some crazy rules, but apart from getting notes about my writing, I never got into any trouble there otherwise
I just watch too. I don't spoil it anymore either. It was fun in the early days but got a bit old. I'm looking forward to the new redemption season this fall. I still go there to read Top Model and Project Runway threads because those die hards are so knowledgeable about it.

I go to a quilt board that's moderated into the ground. It sucks but it's the most active quilt board I know of so I suffer through it. lol. I moderate a shopping board and there are some pretty strict rules there, but there are still plenty of members posting. So it must not be too boring. It's definitely more interesting here though. That's exactly how the RV message board is. I thought it would be more interesting because there would be a mix of male and female voices and opinions but with the heavy hand it's not at all

Are there alters that do that? I've never noticed anything like that going on. The only one that I can think of is the alter that was created specifically to "out" scrappower during the fake picture debacle.

But that's all beside the point, because I don't think this admin wants this site to run like mine. I think she wants to find another place along the moderation continuum. With all due respect to you, if that's the way you feel, why do you constantly post about how you run your site? I've seen so many posts by you that I can't help but wonder why you keep on doing it. I was a long-time mod on two separate (and very different) boards and wouldn't continue to give unsolicited advice on an open thread over such a period of time. Generally, I have enjoyed and agreed with many of your thoughts and posts, but I can't help but notice this trend of yours!

Well crap, I'm soooooo screwed I'm more screwed than you. I attempted HP and really hated it. I thought it was unspeakably dull. Y'all can pile on me now if you want. The first 2 books are a wee bit slow IMO (don't slay me!!) but are VERY IMPORTANT to the storyline. Plus they were written for young kids. Once you hit the 3rd book it's much more interesting and by 7 you're reading under your blankets with a flashlight at 4 a.m.

I only have tried the first book. I think I got about half way. I keep thinking what am I missing? I've decided I'll eventually at least read the whole first book and possibly the second. I'll give up after that if I don't find it interesting.

Just one example: Somewhere around the beginning of the year there was a new log-in created the day before a well known Pea announced she was taking a break from here. She took her break and the new login participated in many threads. Several Peas were very vocal about the similarities between the two, including posting styles, identical phrases used, reactions to certain topics, similar reactions in general, professions, etc. When the well known Pea came back from her break, the new log-in stopped posting and hasn't posted since. Of course, it could all be coincidence, but that's a lot of coincidence in one place. I'm not seeing how that was an alter created to attack people. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean? I'm just basing it on a line I believe (based on my own experiences and things I've witnessed) I believe leads to the troll like log-ins. It's just my own experiences, but of course, I could be interpreting them all wrong. So that's why I suggested deleting and announcing alters that are here to troll and are linked to other log-ins. If there aren't any, then okay. But if there are, they serve no good purpose here and should be deleted and exposed.

I'm terribly worried about some of you. I will let my freaky nerd flag fly, right now.
Yes, Lainey, I'm talking to you. More Star Wars movies are needed, for shame thinking that question, for shame woman.
I've read all of Game of Thrones, but I started way back at the beginning (in the 1990's), so when I tell people they should have read the books (ahem...Red Wedding), I can be all uppity about it.
Can't say the same for Walking Dead, started watching it, then read all the comics, so I keep my uppity under control. Read & seen all Harry Potter. Added bonus of my DD being just the right age when we lived in England, so we went to locations where they filmed.
Unfortunately for me, I did see the first Twi-Light movie. Pretty sure I'm still missing brain cells from that venture. Thank goodness DD outgrew that quick.
But my favorite movies of all time are as follows. 1. The Matrix 2. Terminator 3. Die Hard 4. Jaws 5. Star Wars.

I was a huge lurker on TWOP back in the day. The boards for House Hunters, Buy Me, and Sandra Lee were amazing.

I only have one name. I personally don't care who loves and hates which books/movies, but kind of had a crush on Sirius and Snape. I really just want to know what happened to the $600 plaid chair.

There was an update, the chair left their house, and if I'm remembering correctly, they got $400 for it.

They went & loved it, & I loved that I could stay home for once!!

To those of you who are Potter fans, I trust you remembered that today, 1st September 2015, is the day James Sirius Potter takes the Hogwarts express from platform 9 and three quarters? Any Brits at King's Cross? Please give him a wave for us.
ETA: I was quoting from Twitter. Surely that should be James Severus Potter? Please help, I can't look it up right now.

No I think you were right the first time - it must be James Sirius Potter, although it doesn't say that at the end of Deathly Hallows. But Albus is Albus Severus, "named for two headmasters of Hogwarts".

Does the fact that my son owns all the HP books in hard cover and has read them so often that the bindings are broken get me any points? And will the fact that I like Twilight & 50 Shades take them all away?
