Hey everyone! Wifi is working here tonight so I thought I'd pop in and say "hey" and a huge THANK YOU to all of you. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm hoping I only have a week or two left here. I finished a full week of chemo on Friday and now is the waiting game as we wait for the white blood cells to regenerate at a normal quantity (and at a normal rate). Then another biopsy to make sure my bone marrow is clear. My spirits have mostly been good - I have a wonderful support system. But I do have my moments...I have zero control and, for me, that really makes my anxiety amp up. Now that chemo is over, things seem to be harder. My mouth is giving me trouble (don't forget...it was already giving me issue and I had my wisdom teeth out the day before I was rushed to the ER but now I have chemo related pain), I'm having GI troubles, I have a weird rash all over my body and I'm probably going to lose my hair. Though, to be honest, that bothers me less than the other stuff - I'd rather be able to go to the bathroom without doubling over in pain than have a full head of hair. LOL. The prognosis for this kind of leukemia is really good for someone of my age and health (aside from my weight, I'm very healthy...normally). And, everyone keeps encouraging me to "be active"...so I've made myself a schedule/plan...getting up and dressed every day, walks around the floor, and activities....reading, crocheting, crafting. And naps...definitely naps. Fatigue sucks. Hopefully this will help get me out of here faster. So, that's what's going on! I hope to pop in again later this week. Thanks again for all your support! You guys are the best! Talk to you all soon!

I hope those go away quickly. Do they know why your mouth is affected? Is it an infection acerbated by the leukemia? And I'm glad you feel like doing a few things and feel like getting up and around. Get enough rest, though. This is your time to heal without the distractions of family and home. We miss you! So glad you're back, even if it isn't as often as before!

I don't know a whole lot about chemo but a friend of a friend had a bunch of chemo a year or so ago and I think it just makes everything taste metallic and maybe hurt? Maybe someone that knows more than me can pop in- but anyways thinking it is just a side effect of the chemo and I agree with you both... Losing my hair would be easier than the others.

Awwww, happy birthday abr79. I hope it is filled with love. I have been through chemo myself, and I know how hard it is. But you WILL get through it and you will be ok. Be kind to yourself - if you don't feel like following your plan every day, you don't have to. Fatigue is tough. Thinking of you.xx

So glad to hear you're in good spirits and that your treatment is moving along smoothly. I wanted to pop in here and wish you a happy birthday! It sucks you have to spend it in the hospital, but it sounds like you've got your people there with you, and that's all you need really. And never forget that we're with you in spirit!
