Thanks for the update, abr79! Hope you have a great birthday and are feeling better soon. You know we're here, cheering you on! BTW- be sure to schedule in some time for peaing- have you caught up on all 132 pages of the SC thread here? Seriously, there's been no end to the drama going on. You don't want to get too far behind! (and in case you couldn't tell, the Fairy Podmother gave us a bunch of new smilies!)

Hey everyone! Wifi is working here tonight so I thought I'd pop in and say "hey" and a huge THANK YOU to all of you. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm hoping I only have a week or two left here. I finished a full week of chemo on Friday and now is the waiting game as we wait for the white blood cells to regenerate at a normal quantity (and at a normal rate). Then another biopsy to make sure my bone marrow is clear. My spirits have mostly been good - I have a wonderful support system. But I do have my moments...I have zero control and, for me, that really makes my anxiety amp up. Now that chemo is over, things seem to be harder. My mouth is giving me trouble (don't forget...it was already giving me issue and I had my wisdom teeth out the day before I was rushed to the ER but now I have chemo related pain), I'm having GI troubles, I have a weird rash all over my body and I'm probably going to lose my hair. Though, to be honest, that bothers me less than the other stuff - I'd rather be able to go to the bathroom without doubling over in pain than have a full head of hair. LOL. The prognosis for this kind of leukemia is really good for someone of my age and health (aside from my weight, I'm very healthy...normally). And, everyone keeps encouraging me to "be active"...so I've made myself a schedule/plan...getting up and dressed every day, walks around the floor, and activities....reading, crocheting, crafting. And naps...definitely naps. Fatigue sucks. Hopefully this will help get me out of here faster. So, that's what's going on! I hope to pop in again later this week. Thanks again for all your support! You guys are the best! Talk to you all soon! Thank you so much Amanda for popping in, I can't even imagine what you're going through. You are missed and we are all thinking about you.

Hi Amanda - Happy Birthday!
It's good to hear from you and that the prognosis is positive! I was so worried about how quickly this happened. I can't help but think of the Hunger Games - may the odds be ever in your favor....I'm looking forward to seeing what you are creating if and when you are ready to share! I am horrible at crochet! I'm missing your Avatar on the boards here. Rest up . Hugs.

We're so glad to hear from you! Thanks for taking time to let us know that you still sound like you! I'll bet you are so ready to get out of that hospital room/wing and get home! Make sure someone brings in a nice soft pillow that you like. Hospital pillows make your head so sweaty. Happy birthday and I hope someone is bringing a favorite meal to you there. We are still sending positive thoughts and internet hugs everyday.

Happy Birthday Amanda! I hope you're doing well. If I've learned anything from reading your posts, is that, you're a strong person who stands up and fights back! I'm pretty sure having this kind of attitude is going to be a huge benefit in your treatment. Hugs to you and hoping you get back on your feet real soon.

A belated happy birthday! Glad to hear your treatment is going according to plan. Hope you will be out of the hospital and home soon. Your positive attitude will serve you well. Let us know if you would like a box of paperclips - with all that downtime you have, you could be cranking out necklaces by the dozen.
Miss you on the boards! Giant gentle hugs.

Hey all! Still in the hospital...:/ My white count has to get to a certain level before I can leave...and the oncologists are waiting for a bit more info from my latest bone marrow biopsy. I'm hoping I only have a week and a half left but I don't know. I had a pity party this morning. Was so frustrated because I woke up yesterday with a horrible pain in my side - couldn't take a deep breath without a horrible pain. Turns out my spleen is enlarged. Just part of the whole leukemia package. But I was frustrated because not only does it hurt like hell, my white count actually went down a bit today. It's all normal and nothing to be worried about but I was still upset. It's hard because there is nothing I can DO...I just have to wait and that's hard for me. This control freak has zero control and it sucks. But I rebounded this afternoon...sat in the sun and had a nice visit with my parents this evening. And the pain isn't as bad as it was last night, so that's good. Oh, and I'm bald now. My hair was falling out in much too high of a quantity (I would have a handful of hair after barely running my hand through it and my pillow was covered every morning). So my mom came to the hospital on Saturday and buzzed it for me. Now I just have a little fuzz on my head to fall out instead of long hair. I feel pretty good with it gone and I have really cute hats and scarves to wear. And when I'm completely bald, I like to think I'm Sigourney Weaver from Alien 3. I'm most excited about my leg hair falling out, though...that can go anytime. LOL. Anyway, I hope you all are well. Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a good one - weird since I was in a hospital but received lots of love. Which is awesome. I'll try and pop in again later this week! Take care!

So glad to hear from you! I was thinking about you yesterday. My Mom is presently going through chemo so I get to see this horrible disease up close. It sucks. But everyone keeps assuring us that cancer treatment has come a long way. Keeping you in my prayers.
